Dazai’s Boyfriend, Mister Fancy Hat

Summary:

Dazai and Chuuya’s relationship was not a secret. Both the Port Mafia and the ADA knew about it. At first there were a lot of doubts about the two being in a relationship, but over time people got used to seeing the duo always together.

In fact, Dazai’s own co-workers seemed to like Chuuya more than they liked him! What an insane thought!

Or: literally just Chuuya getting along with the ADA members and Dazai going bananas over it

Notes:

idk i was bored and read too mant angst fics. Decided I wanted to make something fluffy, and what better than chuuya bonding with the ada? I didn’t add the secretaries bc idk i didn’t think it’d be that important. Sorry if some of you guys were expecting them 😅

maybe i should focus more on my other neglected fics but oh well 😔

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Atsushi

Dazai and Chuuya’s relationship was not a secret. Both the Port Mafia and the ADA knew about it. At first there were a lot of doubts about the two being in a relationship, but over time people got used to seeing the duo always together.

In fact, Dazai’s own co-workers seemed to like Chuuya more than they liked him! What an insane thought! Which is absurd since Dazai is a wonderful person.

The first instance of this happening was with Atsushi. The two never really interacted before the whole Guild situation, but ever since he and Chuuya started dating, the younger boy immediately warmed up to him.

It was a slow day at the agency, and Dazai wanted nothing more than to pass out on his bed. The only thing that motivated him to get through the day was the little surprise visit from Chuuya. “Yo, Mackerel,” The redhead tosses him something. Dazai looks down at his lap to see a bento box. It still felt warm and Dazai was already licking his lips.

“Aw, Chuuya! I knew you loved me!” The bandaged man got up from his seat and ran over to the redhead, who was backing up at the sight of Dazai approaching him. Of course Chuuya loved him, they were dating. Dazai just likes repeating it.

“Eugh! G-Get your hands off me!” Chuuya swatted Dazai’s hands away, but it did not stop the brunette. Everyone working in the office doesn’t pay any attention to them, already used to the common sight.

From afar Kunikida groans, and the sound of a pen breaking could be heard. “Could you guys do this another time?” It was too bad Dazai and Chuuya were too busy with each other to hear what he said.

It wasn’t until Atsushi had called out his name that the redhead finally snapped out of it. “Wow! Chuuya-san, you cooked this? It looks so good!” Chuuya looks over to Atsushi who was pointing at Dazai’s bento. The white-haired boy looked like he was going to cry at the sight of the food…

“Yeah, are you hungry? I could cook you some too,” He offered. Atsushi then looked extremely guilty.

“N-No! It’s okay! I was just saying,” Atsushi waved his hands up, and in an extremely wrong timing, his stomach grumbled. Chuuya just sighed. The mafioso pulled away from Dazai’s embrace and marched over to Atsushi.

“In order to be strong, you must have a good diet. Come now, you’re on your break right? Can’t have you working on an empty stomach,” Chuuya gestures at Atsushi to follow him out.

“What! My protege is leaving me here! Come back, Atsushi-kun!” Dazai whines. Atsushi lets out a huff, he knows his mentor is only sulking because he won’t be in the office to do his paperwork for him…

Before Atsushi can say anything, Chuuya beats him to it. “Fuck off, Dazai. Do your own work,” Chuuya rolls his eyes before slinging an arm around Atsushi’s shoulder, dragging him away from Dazai.

Atsushi doesn’t look back, but he hears Dazai let out a dramatic sigh, “Ugh, being betrayed by my own student!”

Chuuya has to refrain from rolling his eyes again. Atsushi is kind of glad that he’s with Chuuya, he truly wanted a break from the office. “Thank you, Chuuya-san! I hope I can repay you someday!”

The older man gives Atsushi a smile, before he shakes his head. “No need for that kid. Come on, my apartment isn’t too far.”

Back in the agency office, Dazai is once again sulking. Yes, the meal Chuuya cooked for him was amazing, and yes, of course his lover never disappoints, but how could Atsushi leave with him! Does Atsushi like Chuuya better now?

Kunikida comes up from behind him and gives Dazai an annoyed look, “Did you actually do something today?”

Dazai doesn’t respond, and he can hear another pen break. Just as Kunikida was about to yell at Dazai for not doing any work, the sound of the agency door interrupts him, revealing both Chuuya and Atsushi. “Thank you again for the meal, Chuuya-san! It was so good! I could eat your food forever!” Atsushi was in fact stuffed. Chuuya had been too kind in feeding him, and he ended up eating 2 whole bowls.

“I told you kid, it’s no problem. Now go do your work and don’t let your Dazai-san bother you…” Chuuya told him. Atsushi just nodded along and sat down at his desk, happily satisfied. Of course he got another betrayed look from his mentor, but he didn’t mind it at all.

“Dazai-san you’re so lucky you have Chuuya-san. He’s such a nice guy.” Atsushi says, already getting started on his paperwork.

Dazai didn’t respond, only sulking even further.

Kunikida

Chuuya was over at the ADA again to hand in some files that they needed for a case. Dazai always looked forward to his visits, not that he would ever admit it! Sure, they were dating, but still!

The mafioso is right on time as always, and Kunikida nods at his punctuality. The two of them exchange pleasantries before Chuuya hands the files over to the other man. “Why can’t you follow Nakahara’s example, Dazai? You know it’s bad when someone from the Port Mafia is more reliable than you…” The blonde man glared at him, but Dazai just shrugged. Chuuya just sighed, already tired of Dazai’s bullshit.

“Chuuya was always the more stern one in our partnership. After all, he did all my paperwork for me!” Dazai proudly stated. Kunikida looked like he wanted to smack Dazai, and honestly, it didn’t sound like a bad idea.

“I’m not even surprised at the fact that you still don’t do paperwork.” Chuuya turns to Kunikida, chuckling slightly, “Does he still skip out on meetings pretending to be sick while in reality he’s at home having the time of his life?”

It was like Chuuya read his mind, because Kunikida frantically nodded his head. So Dazai has always been the same, huh. “Tell me about it! And at least once a month we get disturbances from all those women he asked to commit a double suicide with…” While yes, there hasn’t been any since Dazai and Chuuya got together, but Kunikida could still remember vividly the last time a woman came to the agency, complaining about Dazai. Kunikida had a migraine for the rest of that day.

“Hey! Don’t talk bad about me when I’m literally standing right here,” Dazai grumbled. Both his lover and his co-worker ignored him.

“Ugh, I remember having to deal with all those women too, back when he was still in the mafia…” Hearing that made Kunikida pity Chuuya even more. How could the other man tolerate Dazai so much?

“So he’s always been like that?”

“Yes! Ever since we met, he has been nothing but a pain in the ass!” Chuuya cried out, and Dazai felt even more offended.

“Of course I terrorized you, Chuuya! I confessed my love to you back then and all you did in response was gagged and called it gross!” That horrible memory from when they were 15 really stuck out to Dazai. Looking back at it now, it was so embarrassing…

“Obviously I responded like that! We knew each other for less than a day!” The mafioso gave him an incredulous look, and Kunikida to the side wrote down Chuuya’s name to the list of people he needed to give gift baskets to. He truly needs it.

The rant about Dazai didn’t stop there, and the bandaged man really wanted to shut Chuuya up. “Aside from Dazai being Dazai, he is so fucking gross! I mean he always leaves his trash everywhere, insisting that it’s important, in fact, his own work desk right now is so cluttered!” Chuuya groans, making his way over to Dazai’s desk. He began to tidy it up, throwing away the crumpled up pieces of paper and organizing everything on the surface. With the use of his ability, it made cleaning up easier and faster. Kunikida stared at Chuuya in awe and even Kenji who was in the office also watched in amazement.

The blonde man caught sight of a document that needed to be filled out a week ago. “Dazai! I thought I told you to do that! Urgh, I truly admire you, Nakahara. It amazes me how much you put up with this bastard…” Dazai flashed Kunikida a meek smile, one that meant he totally wasn’t sorry for not filling out the paperwork.

Then Chuuya was done. He wiped the dust off his hands and turned to Dazai, leaning in close and giving him a soft peck on the cheek. “Well, he is definitely an annoying asshole. I don’t know why I put up with him either, but I love this bastard.” The brunette looked down at Chuuya, smiling at him softly.

He truly loves Chuuya.

Nevermind! He truly hates Chuuya!

Just as Dazai was going to ask him out for a mini date, he says he already has plans! With his partner Kunikida out of all people!

“Hm? I’d love to have a small date with you, Dazai. But I promised Kunikida that I would hang out with him and help him buy a new notebook… We can go tomorrow, alright? I promise.” Chuuya gave him a sorry look and embraced Dazai.

The taller man huffed in disappointment. Seriously, he does not like the fact that his co-workers are getting so comfortable with his lover! Well Dazai is glad that his little family loves Chuuya so much, but that doesn’t mean they have to like Chuuya more than him! It’s a little insulting.

Of course when Chuuya and Kunikida go out for notebook shopping, there isn’t a bandaged man lurking in the shadows spying on them along with a troubled white-haired boy who looks like he’d rather be anywhere else.

Kenji

Even before they were dating, Kenji had always liked Chuuya. The two of them had engaged in a fight before, and the whole time the blonde boy was admiring the mafioso’s skills.

That admiration had kept up even until now, in fact, the admiration grew stronger. Dazai didn’t mind their friendship too much, it was cute seeing Chuuya acting like an older brother to Kenji. They were in a meeting discussing the future training for the students such as Atsushi and Akutagawa. Kenji was also a part of that.

The president had made a list of people who could possibly help train these students. Dazai raised his hand to contribute to the list. “I think Chuuya could help out a lot, after all, he is considered the best martial artist in the Port Mafia. Also now that nothing too major is going on, he has a lot of free time, so that wouldn’t be a problem.” Kenji immediately sprung up to the sound of Chuuya’s name being called out.

“Mister Fancy Hat! He is so cool! I’d love to be trained by him!” He expressed his excitement to the president, who didn’t look all too shocked hearing Kenji praising Chuuya. Atsushi, who was also in the meeting, agreed.

The president nodded, concluding the meeting. “Alright then. Dazai let me know when the training with Nakahara can start.”

“Will do, President!” Dazai was actually pretty pumped up about the whole training thing. He hasn’t seen Chuuya fight in a long time, and he really wants to see.

The first day of training hadn’t been too far away. Kenji had been bubbling all about it. They decided to take the training to a Port Mafia owned warehouse where they had plenty of space. So Dazai along with Atsushi, Kenji, and Kyouka drove over to the warehouse to meet up with Chuuya.

When they arrived, they saw Chuuya and Akutagawa already getting started. “Oh, there you guys are. Alright, let’s get right into it then,” They all gathered towards where Chuuya was standing. It was funny seeing them all lined up next to each other, how Chuuya was barely taller than Kenji… Dazai suppressed the urge to laugh.

Chuuya was doing most of the work, but every once in a while Dazai would chime in. Other than that though, he just stood back and watched everything unfold. Atsushi and Akutagawa worked really well together, it made Dazai happy seeing the Shin Soukoku duo truly in action. Despite the fact that the two of them continued to bicker and argue with each other, the two of them really complimented each other. Kyouka was sufficient as always, and Kenji was all too happy to be training under Chuuya.

Dazai was right about Chuuya being the perfect teacher, everyone had done really well on their first day. The brunette won’t even lie and say he enjoyed this very much. Especially seeing the way Chuuya fought…

The part when they all had to try and land a hit on Chuuya altogether gave Dazai chills. Even with four ability users charging at him, Chuuya was still unstoppable. The redhead was definitely not going easy on them, but he definitely wasn’t using all of his strength. Dazai will never get tired of watching Chuuya fight.

As the end of training draws near, something quite unexpected happens. Just as they were wrapping up with Atsushi and Akutagawa doing yet another activity to strengthen their trust in each other, Kenji collapses on the ground. Kyouka immediately rushes to him, propping the other boy up. “Ch-Chuuya-san! Dazai-san! Help!” She was frightened of the blonde boy.

Atsushi and Akutagawa stop whatever they were doing while Chuuya runs to the farmer boy. He knelt down to inspect his condition to see the boy slightly panting. The blonde boy gripped at his stomach. “Kenji? Can you tell me what’s hurting?” Chuuya calmly asked. Meanwhile Dazai got the car ready, phone in his hand, Yosano on the other end.

The boy said something, but it was far too quiet for Chuuya to hear. “Okay, let’s just bring you back to the agency,” He gestured over to Kyouka to let him go. The girl complied and Chuuya used his gravity to make carrying the blonde boy easier.

The ride to the Agency was short, and they all ran over to Yosano to heal the boy in pain. They left Kenji alone in the clinic as they waited. Chuuya put his head down in guilt. Dazai sat down next to him, scooting close. He put his hand on Chuuya’s back, moving his hand in a circular motion to soothe him. It did manage to get Chuuya to look up at him. “What’s wrong, love? Is this about Kenji getting hurt?” The mafioso stayed quiet, but nodded at Dazai.

“I’m worried that I hurt him… Do you think I overdid the training?” Chuuya’s eyebrows were furrowed and his voice slightly wavered.

Typical Chuuya, always looking out for other people. This was one of the things Dazai loved about him. The brunette pulled him close, hugging him to his chest and kissing the top of his head. “Kenji is strong. You didn’t do anything wrong, Chuuya.” He pressed a reassuring kiss to Chuuya’s forehead this time.

Shortly after, Yosano and a bright Kenji come out of the clinic room. Chuuya is up on his feet, going over to Kenji and bombarding him with questions. “Are you okay? What happened back there?” Chuuya knew how powerful the agency’s doctor was, so he should really stop worrying.

“I’m fine Mister Fancy Hat! Turns out I was starving!” Kenji had said that part a bit too happily, like that was a normal occurrence.

“You didn’t eat anything before the training?” Now Chuuya was more confused than ever.

“Nope! I didn’t eat for almost five days because I was so excited to fight you, and I’m stronger when I’m hungry! Yosano-sensei gave me a stern scolding about it…”

Chuuya sighed, patting Kenji’s head before giving him a soft look. “Yosano-sensei is right. Don’t do that again, Kenji… You really scared us back there… You shouldn’t be starving yourself to the point where you collapse. Listen, how about we go for some beef bowls? Does that sound good?” The blonde boy beamed at the suggestion of food, and followed after Chuuya.

Dazai, who was watching the whole ordeal, couldn’t help but smile as Kenji and Chuuya trotted away.

Kyouka

Everyone knew that Kyouka was under the care of Ozaki Kouyou in the Port Mafia. What they didn’t know was that Chuuya was too. In fact, back when Kyouka was in the Port Mafia, Chuuya would visit her sometimes. While they weren’t close-close, they knew each other.

So it had come as a surprise when the girl had asked him to go buy crepes with her. It was out of the blue, and she usually just talks with Atsushi. The mafioso himself hadn’t expected that. Chuuya was extremely nice about it though, and agreed.

It was calm and sunny, the perfect weather to go out. If Chuuya was going to be honest with himself however, it was very awkward between them. The walk to the crepe shop had been in silence, with an occasional word from Chuuya, to which Kyouka would nod along. Despite Chuuya constantly being at the ADA, the two of them actually haven’t had a conversation with each other in a very long time. The redhead had a tough time getting to know the girl, but he won’t give up.

When they finally reach the crepe shop, they stand in line and look at all the options on the menu. “Which one do you want, Kyouka?” He asks her. She points to the one on the very top, the strawberry crepe. He nods and they wait for the person in front of them to order.

Soon enough they get to the counter. Chuuya orders one crepe for Kyouka, and one for himself. Alongside some drinks in case they get thirsty. They find a cozy spot in the shop to sit, and they begin to dig into the crepes. It is still an uncomfortable silence, so Chuuya decided to be straight forward and ask Kyouka about the sudden hang out.

“Kyouka-chan?” She turned her head to face him. “I really do enjoy spending time with you, but is there a reason you asked to go out with me today?” She stopped eating her crepe, and Chuuya got worried he spoiled the mood with his question. Urgh, now he really regrets asking!

After a little while, she finally responds, “Well kind of… I did want to spend time with you, Chuuya-san! But there’s also something else I wanted to talk about…” The raven-haired girl was reticent, somehow self-conscious of herself. Chuuya listens to what she says.

“How is Kouyou-san? Does… Does she still talk about me? Is she mad that I’m with the agency?” She looked down at her lap, avoiding Chuuya’s gaze. Her voice was meek like a mouse. Ah, so that’s what this is about.

He sighs, patting her head. The gesture was sudden to Kyouka, and she looked back up to him. She expected to see a disappointed stare, but instead Chuuya had an understanding and kind look on his face. It made her feel a lot better. “Sometimes whenever I go to the agency she would ask me about you, how you were doing.” He pauses, thinking about his next set of words. “I know the Port Mafia was a bad place for you, but Ane-san really does care. So do I. She only wants what’s best for you, and yes, while your leaving has caused her some sadness, she only wants you to be happy. The ADA is truly where you belong.”

That was all she needed to know. Kyouka leapt across the table to hug Chuuya, and it startled him quite a bit. He tightened his arms around her and squeezed tight. For a moment it was all silence. Finally, she looked up at him with a buoyant smile, her eyes were shining as well. “Thank you, Chuuya-san… I don’t miss the mafia, but I do miss you and Kouyou-san…Please tell her that I’m doing good…”

“You can always talk to me about these things, and of course, I’ll tell her that tomorrow.” Chuuya smiled at her before checking the time on his phone. “Hm. It’s getting pretty late. How about we buy snacks for everyone at the agency and head back? I’m sure they’re all waiting for your return.” The girl nods vigorously, and rushes to the counter. Chuuya only laughs at her enthusiasm, following along.

All the crepes are worth seeing her smile.

Kyouka and Chuuya had been gone for a while. Atsushi didn’t think going out for crepes would take this long… As he was about to call Chuuya about Kyouka, the pair burst through the agency door, Chuuya holding a box full of crepes. Kyouka is all too excited to share it with everyone. They must hurry and eat their share before Ranpo comes and steals it all however.

Chuuya sighs and plops down next to Dazai on the couch, resting his head on the taller man’s shoulder. “How was it?” Dazai asked, clearly amused by how happy Kyouka had been. It must’ve gone well then.

“It was fun. I really enjoyed it.” Chuuya answered simply, smiling as well. Kyouka then walked up to him, now wearing a serious expression.

“Chuuya-san, can I please braid your hair? It’s very pretty,” She pointed to the long strand of hair flowing down.

“O-Oh. Yes, of course.” He sat down in front of the couch and Kyouka went behind him. Dazai liked watching this unfold, how Chuuya was blushing at everyone in the office staring at him while Kyouka braided his hair.

“Kouyou-san would do this for me all the time… I want to try it out,” She said plainly, tugging a stray piece of hair and putting it into place.

Chuuya sat still, patiently waiting for Kyouka to finish. Unbeknownst to him, Dazai was recording the entire time. After what felt like forever, Kyouka handed Chuuya a mirror. He looked at the beautifully made braid and smiled at Kyouka. “It’s very nice, Kyouka. Ane-san would be proud,” She was proud of the braid, and glad that Chuuya liked it also.

Meanwhile Dazai was having the time of his life tugging on the damn thing and taking photos. “Chuuya, you look so cute! Right guys, he’s like a doll!” The other agency members nodded along, although Chuuya thought the opposite.

“Quit it, Dazai!” The brunette did not stop, in fact he started taking even more photos and messing around with the braid harder.

Needless to say he was punched in the gut for humiliating Chuuya right in front of everyone else.

When Dazai managed to successfully ruin his braid, Chuuya knelt down in front of Kyouka to redo it. The girl won’t say, but she was truly having fun with the older man.

Tanizaki siblings

The two “siblings” were a weird pair. At first Junichirou truly hated Chuuya’s guts, remembering how the mafioso had hurt his sister. After some time however, the ginger armed up to him. They weren’t exactly as close as Chuuya and Yosano, or Chuuya and Kunikida, but they were on friendly terms.

Yet now he finds himself in an awkward position of being stuck with both siblings at the ADA! He only came here to talk with Kunikida about some files, but he appears to have arrived at a bad time. Dazai, Atsushi and Kunikida were on some mission at the moment, and Yosano and Ranpo were out busy doing something… Chuuya texted Dazai asking him what time they’ll arrive back, but that won’t be for another 30 minutes!

The executive has no idea how to start a conversation with Junichirou or his sister, worried he might say the wrong thing.

It’s not long after that the two of them begin their usual sibling bonding. “Oh brother! Today was quite tiring! I just can’t wait until we get home…” She says the last part with a purr, and it makes Chuuya’s skin crawl. He truly does not want to be here.

“N-Naomi!” Junichirou quickly became red, flushed all the way to his ears. The mafioso heard the sound of a body flopping onto another, and promptly turned away, focusing his attention back to his phone.

It’s not until Naomi herself calls over to Chuuya that he finally pays attention to whatever the hell the siblings are doing. “Chuuya-san! Do you think my brother is cute? I sure do!”

Chuuya’s face is strained. He doesn’t want to be rude, but he also does not want to be part of their whole little game. “I… I suppose so…” He answers very briskly, turning away from the pair. He hopes that Naomi has taken the hint.

She apparently hasn’t because she continues bombarding the mafioso with questions. Chuuya is counting down the minutes before the rest of the members arrive. “Chuuya-san! We want to get to know you more! Let’s start off with some simple questions, kay?” He supposes that it won’t be too bad… He sighs before facing the two siblings once more.

He’s having second thoughts after seeing that devious look on Naomi’s face. “What are your preferences in bed? Me and my brother are always up for something new!” Yeah, he definitely didn’t expect that one.

Chuuya’s face is full of shock, and he doesn’t even bother hiding it. “...Excuse me?”

“I mean, what are some of your hobbies? Like outside the Port Mafia?” Naomi looked up at him all innocently while her brother was just dying to get out of there. Chuuya feels the same way.

He tries his best to forget about the first question she asked him.“I write some poetry, and I guess I like cooking. What about you guys?” He has a small smile on, hopefully things turn around and he gets to actually learn more about the siblings.

Junichirou still has an uncomfortable look on his face, but Naomi continues to ramble. “Nothing much! We’re usually too busy being occupied with each other.” Right.

“Naomi! I’m sorry, please excuse my sister!” Junichirou hurriedly says to Chuuya. Honestly, the mafioso doesn’t even know what to say anymore. He’s just glad that finally Dazai and the others were back.

The executive quickly stands to greet them, awfully grateful to be away from the Tanizaki’s…

When Dazai asks him about what happened when they were out, Chuuya doesn’t answer.

Well at least they were nice the next time Chuuya got to chat with them.

He had returned to the agency the following day. The Tanizaki siblings were the first to approach him after Chuuya had talked to Dazai. “N-Nakahara! Again, I’m very sorry about the last time…” Junichirou looked pale, and Naomi had a weak smile on her face.

“Yep! Sorry! I forgot that not everyone is used to our lil thing… We truly want to get to know you! Naomi chuckles lightly, waiting for Chuuya’s response.

Needless to say, he’s quite astonished. He truly doesn’t know what to say. The short man doesn’t hate the siblings, of course not, he’s always wanted to learn more about them. So hearing a genuine apology really meant a lot.

Chuuya gave them a smile back, “It’s fine, and I’m free now so how about we talk in the cafe downstairs?” He suggested, to which the siblings nod.

At the start, it was just as awkward the first time, but after a while, Chuuya had grown more comfortable with them. He doesn’t ask about the whole siblings thing, (which he won’t ever ask about actually,) but they do engage in some interesting conversations.

Like how Naomi is actually into fashion and what’s happening in the media. Chuuya tries his best to stay up to date with everything going on around the world, but Naomi knows everything. She listed out random facts about celebrities that Chuuya definitely didn’t know about. It almost made his jaw drop discovering that one of his favorite music artists was problematic. Well, he is too, but never in a pedophile way!

He and Naomi talked a lot about different types of fashion, and he’s glad that they at least have that in common.

Junichirou on the other hand was vastly different from him. He was a bit quiet, letting Chuuya and Naomi talk, but every once in a while he would chime in.

He was a genuinely nice guy, putting aside his darker side. Naomi had whispered to Chuuya about how Junichirou had gone crazy over the Guild incident where the madioso had used her and the other secretary as bait… Chuuya just has a lot of respect for Junichirou for not killing him right then and there. If anyone were to harm his family, Chuuya would have gone mad too.

By the end of it, Chuuya was much more comfortable around the siblings, and this time he didn’t even have to complain to Dazai about anything.

Yosano

Yosano had been wanting to go out with Chuuya for a while. After learning about their shared love for wine, she immediately made plans to hang out at some bar. Without Dazai. The brunette had been whining, wanting to tag along but they both refused.

It’s nice talking with someone who shares the same interest as him. Also, the dirt Yosano had on people was insane. Apparently, her and Ranpo knew all the gossip, even outside the ADA.

The bar she chose was quite classy, and not too many people were there at the time they went, so they could be as loud as they could.

“Alright Miss Doctor… Tell me every piece of drama you know that I have no idea about,” He smirked at her, taking a sip from the wine Yosano chose. He raised an eyebrow in confirmation, appreciating her tastes in wine.

Yosano snorts, slapping his back. “So straightforward! Which category do you want? Drama about the ADA? The Port Mafia? Something about Dazai?” Chuuya’s ears perked up at hearing his lover’s name.

“Tell me about Dazai, I know he’s definitely keeping some things from me…” Chuuya turns his body towards Yosano and crosses his leg.

“There’s a lot of things… Like do you know just how pathetically in love he is for you? Whenever he would slack off, most of the time his attention would be drawn towards his phone. The second you text him something, he springs up but then acts all nonchalant about it, as if he wasn’t just beaming upon seeing your message.” Chuuya can’t say that he’s shocked, but it does make him raise both eyebrows.

Dazai always insulted him, making fun of his height and all that, so hearing this makes it all too ironic. “That’s interesting. I’ll be sure to use it against him. What else do you have?”

Yosano wags her finger at him, taking a big sip from her glass. “Nuh uh. Tell me some drama from the Port Mafia, you must know a lot.”

He nods in affirmation. As a Port Mafia executive, he tries his best to stay updated on everything happening around him. “I’ll tell you something about me. I’m quite… popular, I guess.” He pauses, thinking of the next words. “I also train a lot of my subordinates. I mean, I know I look good, but it’s surprising to see the amount of people confessing to me…” Yosano’s face contorts into a wide smile.

“No way! Keep going!” She urged him on.

“Yeah and these confessions dated all the way back to when Dazai was in the maria. Anyway, there was this one guy, I think his name was like Minato or something like that. This was back when I was 16, and he was quite handsome actually. He asked me out this one time and I said yes. Honestly, he wasn’t a bad date but after maybe a week or so, he vanished almost completely. I still don’t know what happened to him, but I remember Dazai conveniently disappearing the same time Minato did…” Yosano put her palm over her mouth, gasping at what Chuuya suggested.

“Oh, Dazai definitely did something to that man…”

Chuuya chuckles, swirling the wine around his glass. “Definitely. While the confessions didn’t exactly stop, it dwindled down soon after the disappearance of Minato. Dazai thinks I don’t know, but I’m well aware of the whole thing. Anyway, I just think it’s so cute how he gets so jealous.”

Chuuya then snaps his fingers. “That reminds me! I saw this tall dude in the agency before, he had like a raccoon with him. I saw both him and Ranpo like scurrying off into some supply closet. Wanna tell me what that’s about?”

Yosano laughs, but before she continues, she orders another round of drinks, seeing as they have both finished their glasses. “Yeah, that’s Poe, pretty much Ranpo’s boyfriend but he hasn’t told anyone yet, afraid that the President will disapprove. Of course the President won’t, but Ranpo is still unsure. Poe’s from the Guild. I’m pretty sure you guys already had a run in before though, no? He and Ranpo are quite the duo. You’ll probably see him more often though.”

“Ah, that makes sense. You know Miss Doctor, we’ve been talking about everyone else’s relationships, yet you haven’t said a single thing about yours!”

Yosano slaps him in the chest jokingly. “Don’t even start!”

Needless to say their night went extremely well. Dazai was tasked with picking the two of them up, and he’s delighted at the new blackmail material. The brunette absolutely makes sure to record and take photos of every single moment. Despite all the hits he sustained the following morning, it is all worth it.

As expected, after going out for drinks, Chuuya and Yosano grew very close. Close enough for her to invite him to do some shopping with her, insisting that he had “good fashion taste.” Dazai completely disagrees with that statement, but he’s glad that the two of them are getting along well.

The two of them are at the shopping mall inside a particularly popular store. There are many clothes slung over Yosanos’ arms, some of which are being thrown over to Chuuya, who happily carries the large lot.

When they came to the mall in search of new clothes, there wasn’t a specific type of style that they were aiming for. So the bundle of clothes strewn over Yosano and Chuuya were completely random, like a cozy sweater on top of a casual tank top.

Chuuya wouldn’t call himself a “fashion expert” but he does know a couple things about dressing up well. He’s glad Yosano asked him to go with her, instead of that other fishy bastard. “Chuuya, let’s try these on in the dressing room!” She drags him over towards the back of the store and shoves him into a changing room. He had so many to try on…

Slowly but surely, Chuuya was able to show off each and every piece of clothing. The first one he tried was a wine colored top. It was good quality, and was comfortable on Chuuya. He called Yosano over to rate it, and of course she approved.

“Oh. My. God. Chuuya, you look so fucking sexy! Turn around,” He sighed in embarrassment. He will never get used to people complimenting him.

“Get it. 100% get it. It looks so good paired up with your black pants. I’m sure if you show it off to Dazai, he’ll have a hard time looking away.” She winks at him and he nods, throwing her a thumbs up.

“Okay then. Show me something you grabbed.” He patiently waits outside her door, and a few moments later she exits, wearing a long, flowy dress that really made her look like an angel.

“What do you think?” She twirls around, really showing off the dress to Chuuya.

“You look really beautiful… I’m surprised you’re still single,” He jokes, but Yosano punches him in the arm for it. “Oh god, we’re gonna be buying out the whole store, aren’t we?”

The doctor lets out a boisterous laugh, before picking up the rest of the discarded clothes she had in the dressing room. “Well, you are an executive. I hear that devil Mori pays well,” She says his Boss’s name with a sneer.

“You aren’t wrong…” While yes, Chuuya is in fact rich, that doesn’t mean he can just burn through all his money… Now he’s suddenly hearing Ane-san in his ears berating him for wasting his hard-earned cash…

Well, it’s rare for him to treat himself anyway.

The pair arrived back at the agency almost 3 hours later. There were at least 5 bags in Yosano’s arms and 5 in Chuuya’s. They both came back in different outfits than when they left, and had drinks in their hands. “Damn, that’s a lot of stuff…” Ranpo says, stuffing a cookie in his mouth.

“Yup! Chuuya here is now my personal shopping buddy!” Yosano slings an arm around Chuuya before throwing all of her shopping bags to the ground. Kunikida is immediately summoned to the sound of ruckus and goes over to where she is to scold her about decency.

Chuuya laughs seeing Yosano whispering to him for help. As he was going to try and defend her, he gets snatched up by someone behind him.

To no one’s surprise, it was Dazai, and he had a lustful look on his face. Chuuya can see the brunette checking him out, and he smirks, showing off even more, even undoing a button on his shirt to expose more of his cleavage.

“You know, it’s getting pretty late now! See you guys!” No words are exchanged as Dazai grabs a hold of Chuuya’s hand and drags him out of the agency. Kunikida is yelling after him, but he doesn’t stop.

The raven-haired doctor waves him goodbye, smiling wide. “I had fun, Chuuya! Let’s do this again sometime.”

“Of course! I’ll text you later, Miss Doctor.”

Was buying all those clothes really necessary? Definitely not, but Chuuya got to spoil himself a bit, and maybe even Dazai too, seeing how the brunette was fawning over each and every accessory he bought…

Ranpo

Ranpo was quite the character. After the whole incident with him getting stuck in the book, Chuuya had a lot of bitter feelings towards him, but he can’t say he isn’t impressed by how smart the detective is.

Dazai had told him about Ranpo, saying that the raven-haired man didn’t even have an ability. That alone amazes Chuuya, just the amount of intelligence one man could have.

The mafioso had always thought of Dazai as the smartest, (not that he’ll ever admit it,) but after being put on a case with Ranpo? He immediately changed his mind.

Chuuya had worked with the other agency members, but never with Ranpo. The detective was always out doing something else, that or he was too lazy to take up any uninteresting cases…

Chuuya only got this chance to work with Ranpo because of a rise in crime. It all circled back to one specific hitman that seemed to be unregistered as an ability user. His name was Jack Lomise. The victims would always be brutally torn apart, leaving a distinct pattern. The man has taken many lives, some of which were subordinates from the Port Mafia. It got so bad that it had to be brought up in the joint meeting between the ADA and the other organization.

Well, he’s just glad that he has the smartest detective with him.

It was strange, because one of the reasons why Chuuya even had to work with Ranpo was solely for the fact that the other man couldn’t even use the train…

Essentially, Chuuya was his caretaker. The two of them sat down in the corner of the train, separated from the other passengers so that they could have their conversation peacefully. “Tell me more about the guy we’re after…” Chuuya says to him, getting serious for a second.

Ranpo smirked, looking at the redhead as if he were a little kid. “He’s the typical shady hitman, who’s only job is to carry out the orders of his customers. If we can successfully get into his hideout, we can easily end his whole career right then and there!” The older man says it with such energy, that it makes Chuuya raise an eyebrow. He’s never met a person who is that interested in murder cases before…

“Alright then. We should be getting off at the next stop.” Chuuya says.

It didn’t take very long for them to reach their destination. From then on, it was smooth sailing. All they had to do was take a taxi over to the location given to them from the info gathered. It was an old apartment building on the far edge of the city. The building itself looked worn down, as if it hasn’t been used in years. There was moss stuck to the outside walls and when stepping foot inside, Chuuya’s nose had been bombarded by a musty, damp smell.

The door they had entered through almost fell off its hinges, so the pair had to be careful walking around. “Where should we check first?” Chuuya glances towards the stairs, but Ranpo looks the other way, to the basement.

“Downstairs. I have a feeling we might find something…” The raven haired man says it with a grin, and Chuuya just follows along, letting him take the lead.

Apart from everything else in the building, the staircase leading down to the basement wasn’t old. There were obvious signs of it being used, but it wasn’t in a way where it was threatening to break with each step. Someone must frequent here often.

Inside the basement, lay only a computer monitor and a table. Almost immediately, Ranpo goes over towards the monitor, frowning when he sees the password screen. “Hey, Mister Fancy Hat, could you maybe check behind that air vent? I have another feeling that what we need is behind there.” Chuuya complies, whacking it off the wall. Ranpo was right, inside there was a small piece of paper with numbers that don’t have a pattern. He passes it over to Ranpo, and enters the code.

The computer lights up, and Ranpo’s frown changes into a wide grin almost instantly. While the detective looked through each file for clear evidence of the dealings, Chuuya took his time to look through the basement. It wouldn’t make sense if these were the only things the guy had in his basement…

Chuuya checked by the table, but there seemed to be nothing on it but a few brown stains. Stains of which he already knew was blood.

That was when he spotted a weirdly shaped outline on the dirty carpet. There seemed to be indents. The mafioso peeled back the carpet, and to his further inspection, found a hatch that seemed to lead somewhere deeper.

“Ranpo? Want to check this thing out?” They already have all the evidence they need, but what if there’s something more than what meets the eye?

“Why not? We have time.” Chuuya opens the hatch and climbs down the ladder. It was cold, and it seemed to go on forever and ever.

Finally, they reached the bottom to find a weird looking torture room. More importantly, there was a corpse right in the middle. The awful stench hit them hard.

No further scrutinizing was needed to know that the person laying there was dead. “Hm. Long wavy blonde hair, a mole in the shape of a balloon on the collarbone, about 5’6. Mary Herbert, it matches her description. I recognize her from one of the missing victims listed in our case. She was a foreigner who recently moved here with her husband from America. She was last seen leaving her work. It was one of our cold cases. I had suspicions, but I didn’t expect her to be related to this hitman case.”

Chuuya looks over at the body with hard eyes. He’s had his fair share of brutal cases, but it doesn’t make it any easier for the eyes. The woman’s body was completely mutilated and how Ranpo was able to figure out who this is, Chuuya has no idea.

“Why the hell is she special though? Why would a hitman strictly doing business keep her in this tacky room?” Chuuya wonders. Perhaps it was something personal.

The mafioso didn’t even notice when Ranpo had put on his glasses. He made everything extra dramatic, but Chuuya was used to it by now. “See those receipts on the wall with the extra big tips and notes of gratitude? Mary worked at a cafe and she was a waitress there. It seems that our hitman has fallen in love. I’m assuming that he asked her out, but since she already has a husband, rejected the confession. Because of that, he murdered her… How cruel.”

Chuuya can only nod in agreement.

They soon crawled out of the damn hatch, and were currently back in the basement. Ranpo had downloaded all the information about the hitman and his customers, so they were free to leave.

Of course though, the moment they climb up the stairs out of the basement, a large man opens the door from the other side and lunges at them. He was wearing all black and had a nasty beard.

Chuuya automatically pulls Ranpo to the side, protecting him from getting attacked. “Who the hell are you guys?!” Jack cries out, clearly intimidated by Chuuya, who is currently glaring at him.

“I think you already know. How about we make things easy for the both of us and you’ll surrender?” Chuuya prompts, staring at him with cold eyes, indicating that he definitely wasn’f fucking around.

Jack doesn’t comply, and he charges towards the redhead once more. Using his gravity, Chuuya was able to swiftly avoid it. Ranpo was safe and sound right behind him whilst calling the police over.

The hitman was intent on touching Chuuya, and now he’s starting to understand why. His unregistered ability had something to do with the way he kills, so all Chuuya had to do was avoid him.

It quickly turned into a heated one-sided fight, and Chuuya could tell that Jack was getting more and more frustrated. Finally, to end things off, the short man leaps at him, raising his leg to get a good kick at his face. The man is hit to the ground, and Chuuya has both his arms pinned. The kick seemed to knock him out, so he wasn’t worried about anything.

While the fight was going on, Ranpo stayed in the corner observing everything. “Dazai wasn’t lying when he said you were the best martial artist in the Port Mafia. The police are here, let’s go.” He gestures towards the exit and Chuuya heads out, dragging along the unconscious man.

Whatever happened after was easy. They sorted everything out with the police and were free to do whatever. Ranpo had filled the agency in with all the details, and he even beamed at the praise the President had given him.

Now to end off a perfect day, all they needed was a sweet treat.

That’s how they find themselves at a local ice cream shop, licking at 2 tier scoops. Ranpo got 3 actually, insisting that it was better than 2 scoops

“We should go on cases more often! I actually like working with you, Mister Fancy Hat!” Ranpo says, wiping off the ice cream dripping from his mouth.

Chuuya chuckles, handing him a napkin. ‘ A literal child,’ He thinks in his mind. “Yeah, we make a good team.”

They waited for their ride by the beach, pointing at people while also judging them.

Needless to say, Chuuya was bombarded by Dazai the moment he got back to his apartment. Whines about him being left out are left ignored by Chuuya.

Fukuzawa

The agency president was an odd man. Chuuya respected him, knowing that he is a capable leader. They’ve talked a couple of times, mostly for meeting information or case details but outside of that, they haven’t had a true conversation.

Not until now however.

Chuuya was walking to the agency to drop off some papers, when he heard a muffled, pained noise in an alleyway. Naturally, he investigates, as it sounded like it belonged to an animal, not a person.

He sees a small bundle of something, and he approaches slowly. The figure got clearer the more Chuuya stepped forward. Once he was close enough, he made it out to be a cat, or a kitten. The poor thing was shivering and seemed to be lost.

The cat looked young, probably not even one year old. It had murky black fur that was darker than gasoline. The cat’s eyes were large, and looked like it had seen things.

“C’mere kitty, pspspsps…” He brings out his hands and waits for the cat to come to him. It’s hesitant at first, but warms up to Chuuya, climbing into his palms.

The mafioso hugs the cat close to him, and decides to just bring it to the agency anyway. He knows that a certain someone is fond of cats. Besides, the kitten seemed to be lost, they could find the owner quicker with the help of the agency.

Once he stepped foot inside the office, he was immediately swarmed by everyone. Kenji was the first to notice, pointing it out and beaming. “You brought in your cat, Mister Fancy Hat?”

Chuuya just chuckled and corrected the boy. The rest of them weren’t phased anymore, and Kunikida just gave him a strict warning about bringing in pets.

Dazai just snickered, and Chuuya already knew an insult was coming not long after. “You’re always bringing in pests, Chuuya! It must be the natural dog instinct.” The mafioso doesn’t say anything, and only glares at the man. Dazai continues to laugh though, and Chuuya was very close to smacking him.

That was when the president stepped out of his own office. His eyes lit up, yet he managed to keep a stoic face. “Nakahara-san… Where did you find that cat?”

“Just call me Chuuya, sir. I found it in the alleyway, and it’s probably lost.” The redhead pet the kitten behind its ears and it purrs.

“That’s not good… The cat looks very sad. Alright, the rest of you, find out who the owner of this cat is! That is the top priority!” The president looks serious when he says this, and Kunikida’s mouth is agape.

“B-But sir?! Don’t we have other pressing matters to look over?” The blonde man is extremely confused, and it doesn’t help that Dazai is throwing crumpled up pieces of paper at him.

“It’s okay, Kunikida. Those can wait. I’m sure Ranpo can solve them all in 2 seconds anyway. Right now, I need you to scout the city for anyone who is missing a cat.”

The blonde man sighs in defeat, and drags along Kenji to help. The rest of them stay behind to play with the kitten, but one person is still being distant.

Chuuya notices, and picks up the cat, bringing it over to them. “Sir? Don’t you want to play with the cat?”

Fukuzawa tries to maintain the stoic act, but ultimately fails. Chuuya puts the cat into his grasp and the tiny thing practically melts in his arms. “It likes you.” Chuuya says, smiling.

“Ah, I suppose it does…” The cat meows more in Fukuzawa’s arms. The rest of the agency members are silently awing.

“I think it's hungry!” Atsushi crosses his arms, inspecting the cat. Everyone else hummed in agreement as Fukuzawa walked back to his office.

The older man soon came out with a bag of cat food, and why he even has one although he doesn’t own a cat, nobody knows…

Chuuya helps bring over a bowl while Fukuzawa pours the contents in. They all watch as the kitten begins to chow everything down in a matter of seconds.

Everyone cooed at the kitten, their hearts already won over.

Needless to say, no work was done in the ADA. The rest of the afternoon was spent playing with the kitten. When Kunikida and Kenji got back, they all got an earful from the blonde man about actually doing their work.

His remarks were ignored as even the President was playing with his new friend.

It was fun while it lasted, but the owner had shown up after a couple of hours. A middle aged woman had frantically thrown herself into the agency weeping for her cat.

They all said goodbyes to the little kitten, and Fukuzawa almost shed a tear.

That was when Chuuya realized he had spent an entire afternoon playing with a cat. He turns to leave, saying his goodbyes until someone stops him.

“Chuuya. Thank you for bringing in the cat. I enjoyed myself a lot today. I am very fond of cats…” Fukuzawa told him, the stoic look once again on his face.

The redhead gave him a small smile, “Well I couldn’t have just left it there… I also had fun. Perhaps one day I can adopt a cat of my own.”

The President chuckles, before turning away. Chuuya takes that as a sign to leave, but hears one last thing. “If you do adopt a cat, please make sure to visit often.”

The mafioso smiles at that, and whistles as he exits the building.

Dazai

Chuuya was doing too much with Dazai’s co-workers! He’s going shopping with Kunikida, drinking with Yosano, and having too many cases with Ranpo! It was driving Dazai crazy.

The redhead needed to pay attention to only him.

That proved to be quite a challenge however. Dazai knows his boyfriend is a likable man, (literally, he’s dating him,) but too much is just too much!

The brunette was lazing on the agency couch when he made an announcement. It was so out of nowhere, that Dazai, being an unpredictable person, managed to surprise a few of his colleagues. “Can you all back off my Chuuya? Seriously, he’s spending less, and less time with me!” He whines, and it gets a couple of eye rolls.

“I’m sure Chuuya-san still loves you, Dazai-san.” Atsushi is the only one trying to make him feel better. The rest of them? Ruthless.

“Ha. Someone’s getting too possessive over there.” Yosano teases. Dazai doesn’t deny nor confirm that statement.

Ranpo continues to munch on his snacks, not caring about a single thing the brunette has said. Kunikida was the opposite. “How about you spend less time worrying about that, and more time doing your paperwork!”

Dazai sighs, but continues to wallow in despair on the agency couch, not making any moves to do paperwork.

***

Later that night as he enters Chuuya’s apartment, he collapses on the redhead in bed. Chuuya was given the day off, so for once it’s Dazai coming home to him, not the other way around.

The mafioso silently smiles as he tugs on Dazai’s hair, bringing his head down to kiss him on the forehead. “What’s up with you, Mackerel?”

Dazai, being his usual self, responds in the most dramatic way possible. “Oh nothing much! Except that Chuuya likes my co-workers more than me!”

The redhead blinks in confusion, before he bursts out laughing at his boyfriend’s antics. “Are you seriously jealous of your own co-workers?”

Dazai doesn’t say anything, only burying his face in the crook of Chuuya’s neck, snuggling closer.

“Osamu, you know that I like you most…” Chuuya presses more kisses on Dazai’s forehead, and the brunette’s cheeks are warm.

“Of course… I like Chuuya the most also…” Dazai sighs as he pulls the two of them closer to each other, hugging Chuuya’s waist as the redhead continues giving him kisses.

“Goodnight, Dazai.”

“Goodnight, Chuuya.”
