Work Text:
Jungwon likes taking walks. Especially at night. He enjoys the cool breeze, he enjoys the presence of having barely any people around him.
It helps take his mind off of the mess of the boy that is Park Sunghoon, a frat boy who fucks around with anyone that he deems as attractive enough for his standards. He's mostly only sought after for his looks and Sunghoon himself knows that, causing him to develop a cocky, almost toxic personality that only adds on to his fateful reputation.
In other words, what most parents tell their kids to stay away from.
But Sunghoon still has admirers, there are still people who like him despite knowing who he is, what he's done.
Jungwon was unfortunate enough to be one of those people, but he swears he has a reason.
Sunghoon wasn't always a fuck boy who hooked up any chance he got. He used to be Jungwon's best friend, they were so, so close. Jungwon thought his beauty was insane and steadily grew feelings during that first year with Sunghoon.
Then there was summer break, and it if was as if Sunghoon wasn't Sunghoon anymore. He joined a fraternity, started screwing around and gained his character known as who he is today. He grew distant with Jungwon, who would never speak to Sunghoon again. He didn't reach out, he didn't ask. He knew it would involve him in things he didn't need to be involved in. It was none of his business.
Jungwon knew his questions were better off left unanswered.
But he still likes Sunghoon, even after all he's heard, after everything that's been spread. Jungwon still likes Sunghoon. He could've tried to do something about his feelings, he could've been like everyone else and hook up with the guy. But that could've lead to a proper, final conversation about the two, and Jungwon was scared. He was scared to talk to Sunghoon again after everything.
And yet, the last thing Jungwon expected to see tonight was Sunghoon and some random girl he didn't know making out in the alleyway outside of a club.
He stopped at the sight. It was dark, and you could barely even make out their faces, but Jungwon knew it was Sunghoon. He didn't know what to do.
It wasn't like Jungwon hadn't seen Sunghoon making out with a person before, he's seen it more than he probably should've during parties with him on his own fraternity's couch. But that was at frat parties, in the middle of the house, not even a room, with a shit ton of drunk students around them for everyone to see. This is different. This is a more intimate setting during the dead of night, in a dim alleyway with a broken streetlamp with absolutely no one around. Except for Jungwon, who feels as if he's disturbed something oddly private, no matter how open and public Sunghoon has gotten.
Jungwon should've walked away, let them be. Yet still, he can't look away. There's something that stirs inside of him, something that subtly makes Jungwon wants to push that girl away from Sunghoon immediately.
Jungwon knew him first.
Jungwon became friends with him first.
Jungwon liked Park Sunghoon before Park Sunghoon was the Park Sunghoon.
Not anyone else, but Jungwon.
He watches the two kiss for what feels like hours before a faint ringtone could be heard to Jungwon's ears and the girl pulls away to pick it up. She says something to Sunghoon before going out the other end of the alleyway, and Jungwon slides behind a wall to hide himself.
He really, really should not be here right now. He hears the crumbling of some kind of wrapper and a chuckle.
"You can come out, Jungwon, I saw you a while ago."
Jungwon knows that voice anywhere, and so he hesitantly steps back into sight, and the lamp that seemed to be broken flickers to life. Sunghoon is in front of him at two in the morning. There's what Jungwon thinks is a lollipop in his mouth, and he's staring at Jungwon with a smirk with his hands in his jacket pockets.
"Had fun gawking at me making out with someone not at the house? You looked very... interested." Sunghoon says, stepping ever so closer to the younger boy.
"I- I stumbled onto it by accident. Don't think anything of it." Jungwon stammers, and he doesn't understand why he's the one flustered right now.
"Really? You weren't following me around or anything?" Jungwon widens his eyes at the question, why the hell would he be following Sunghoon around? "Maybe little Yang Jungwon could be stalking me, should I borrow one of Jay's bodyguards to give me safety? You looked oh so dangerous looking at us like that, like you're gonna kill that poor girl." Sunghoon mocks him.
Jungwon hates that he's somewhat kind of correct. He hates the tone Sunghoon uses, he hates the way he smiles so lazily at him, he hates the way he still looks breathtaking in the shitty light.
Sunghoon chuckles, "don't look at me like that, hm? What? Did you want it to be you, instead of her?" The glare Jungwon's giving him only sharpens further.
"I don't know what you fucking mean, Sunghoon." Jungwon feels defensive, because it feels like Sunghoon's already got him all figured out, while Jungwon knows next to nothing, he doesn't know what to expect.
"Oh, c'mon, Wonnie." Sunghoon uses the nickname he used to call Jungwon, and said boy feels a shiver down his spine at the memories flooding his mind. "Don't think I don't see those cat eyes of yours lasering holes into my head in class. Beats me, though. I wouldn't stop you."
Maybe Sunghoon does have Jungwon figured out, after all.
Jungwon hates the way he feels his cheeks heat up.
"Aw, look at you, all flushed. I guess it really is true, then. Darling, you have a crush on me." Sunghoon coos.
Jungwon hates the way he feels flustered at the pet name.
Sunghoon slowly drags the lollipop out of his mouth, and flashes it in front of Jungwon. "Still like these? Used to buy them for you a lot." And of course, it's Jungwon's favorite lollipop brand with his favorite flavor. Blue raspberry.
"I haven't had one in months." Jungwon mumbles, he refused to buy them anymore no matter how much he craved or wanted them because it constantly reminded him of Sunghoon.
Sunghoon seems to grin at his response, fangs peeking out. "Oh? You should take this one, then."
Oh my god, he's fucking talking about the lollipop. He wants me to taste his stupid lollipop that's been in his mouth.
Sunghoon holds it in front of Jungwon's mouth, so close that he can the smell the sugary scent diffusing from it, so close that Jungwon can see the glossy look on it from Sunghoon's spit.
Jungwon hates the way he wants to know how it tastes.
"What the hell are you- mmnn!" As soon as Jungwon opens his mouth to speak, Sunghoon pushes the candy past Jungwon's lips into his mouth, making the younger taste the sweet and sour mix of artifical blue raspberry and Sunghoon.
Jungwon hates the way he closes his mouth around it, he hates the way Sunghoon smiles in cruel victory, he hates the way he's wrapped around Sunghoon's finger.
"Good, right? You always used to practically beg me to buy you a pack, do you like the taste?" Sunghoon asks, and Jungwon nods, silently trying to suck Sunghoon's saliva off of the candy.
He doesn't have room to be embarrassed right now, all he wants is Sunghoon, Sunghoon, Sunghoon.
"Words, sweetheart." Sunghoon pulls the lollipop out of Jungwon's mouth, and he almost ignores the second pet name come out. Almost.
Jungwon wishes he hated the way his head went forward to grab it again, and he forgets Sunghoon's question. But Sunghoon has already noticed.
"Did you like the taste?" Sunghoon repeats, a lot slower this time.
"...Yes."
"What'd it taste like, Won?" His tone is almost sweet, honey-like. But Jungwon knows better than to believe the sweetness. Sunghoon hovers the sucker ever so closer to Jungwon's mouth, and it's taking all of Jungwon's willpower to not grab it himself and shove it back in.
"Blue raspberry.." He says, to which Sunghoon cocks an eyebrow, and Jungwon knows that wasn't the answer he wanted. "And.. you." Sunghoon seems to be satisfied now, but then he doesn't do anything else.
Jungwon wishes he hated the way he wants to ask for it back.
"...Sunghoon." He starts, and Sunghoon hums in response. "Can I... have the.. lollipop.. please?" Jungwon's face burns with horrid shame.
"Oh, this? Let me give you one more present before I go, 'kay?" (To Jungwon's excitement,) Sunghoon places it back in his mouth for another round, and Jungwon can already feel his lips parting to take it. When Sunghoon takes it out, there's a string of saliva connecting the candy and himself. He places it back into Jungwon's slightly open mouth, and lets it go.
"Enjoy it, because that's the closest thing you're gonna get to a kiss from me tonight, darling. Maybe next time." Sunghoon walks closer to Jungwon, pulls something out of his pocket and puts it into Jungwon's own pocket before walking straight past him.
Jungwon hesitantly takes it out, it's the lollipop's wrapper folded into a small square. He undoes it, and he can't tell if he scoffs or chuckles at the inside.
It's Sunghoon's number, written in blue pen inside of the wrapper with the message call me tomorrow night.
Jungwon is dazed. He can't stop thinking about Sunghoon's words.
Maybe next time.
He sighs, walking out of the alleyway just as Sunghoon did while sucking on Sunghoon's lollipop.
Jungwon wishes he hated the way he's looking forward to next time.
