Summary
Vex usually tries to avoid contact with humans in all forms, keeping to areas of the ocean that have little to no human presence as much as she can. The exception to that rule is a section of grey, dead coral reef that calls out to her like a raised scar on otherwise unmarked flesh. She wouldn't have been able to put her finger on why if her life depended on it. She always brings Trinket with her, anyway, so anything that would be foolish or hungry enough to take on a full-grown merfolk might be deterred by her companion. Theoretically, the added support would keep her safe even here.
Or, Vex finds a siren and has to balance the risks of keeping him against how hopelessly drawn to him she is at first sight.
