Work Text:
Jungkook parked his motorcycle on the sandy path leading towards the main house, foot scraping the rocks below sending small puffs of dust all over his grungy ripped jeans, he removed his helmet placing it in front of him on the bike’s tank and unruffled hairs that had been sticking too flat on his head.
The sight of his old home empty was not easy to digest, though he could see people running around through large windows, he knew they were there just preparing the place for them it wasn’t the same as when his precious family resided inside bringing happiness and love to his now broken heart.
He had sweaty hands on his pockets, uncertain if he should be the first one to walk in, he was shaken and fidgety, heat pooling on his chest. Jungkook pressed his palm against the wet hair on the back of his neck and removed the black leather jacket from his shoulders throwing it on his bike, he then heard heavy tires marking the ground behind him, platinum SUV shining the sunlight into his eyes.
Yoongi climbed out of the driver’s side, hair so blonde it could blind him, he eyed him up and down before smiling and reaching for a most awaited hug. They say no words as it was not necessary, they knew how much they miss each other.
Next thing Jungkook sees are plump rose tinted lips curving into the most resplendent smile, his heart sinks at Jimin’s presence, legs feel limp and he’s almost sure his blood pressure was up the roof as he heard thumping sounds on his ears, he looked impossibly more beautiful than ever sending gushes of unresolved feelings all over Jungkook’s now frail body.
Jimin embraced him, nose pressing on the crook of his neck, he closed his eyes at the consuming sensation of the smaller warmer man surrounding his every thoughts. “I’ve missed you.” Jimin’s voiced echoed in his mind and he wanted to say he had too missed him more than any other thing. Would it be too terrible to say he had dreams of him every night?
“You have no idea.” Was the closer Jungkook could express. A yellow cab stopped across from them, they could see Hoseok’s head poking out the window, looking so happy to finally see his brothers again.
He stepped out running towards them followed by Taehyung, Yoongi was standing closer so he was the first to get both of their tight hugs, second was Jungkook overwhelmed with joy and sorrow at the same time, then Jimin was having cheeks pinched and arms holding him from all sides, Taehyung hugged him for a while longer crying how much he missed him even though they had talked on the phone almost every day.
A couple of minutes later and they could see the family lawyer, Mr. Chang, walking from the mansion to meet them at the entrance. They walked in, feeling ghoulish chills just to step in the same room where soul-destroying news were once given to them. They sat around the old man, being served tea by the staff keeping the place neat.
“I’m glad you could all join me today, as I’ve mentioned on our correspondence, I have received a letter a few days ago. It was sent to me from your father’s personal box at the Bank, carefully instructed to reach my hands in case anything was to happen to him.” The boys intently listen to what Mr. Chang had to say.
“As you know Mrs. Lang is taking over all responsibilities at the Company while you are having a most needed time to mourn, but your father’s empire was still left to a yet unidentified heir, who presumably will be written on his Testament, the letter content actually talks about this, let me read it for you.” He retrieved a paper from his briefcase by his side, unfolded it and started reading.
“Dear Mr. Chang, I trust you to kindly reach a helping hand to my boys in this terrible situation and bring them together to share my words on this letter I write you.
My loved sons, including my precious boy Jimin, it pains me to know when this ever reaches you I’ll be long gone, but I’m sure you can go through this as one, as the united family we have always been…”
Yoongi sighs, feeling ashamed of being the first to leave his brothers behind, turning his father’s honest wish into a lie.
“…Jin and I are so proud to have seen each of you grow up into wonderful, hardworking, integrate man, we have no doubt you will become the best at whatever your hearts desire to be, and just like your parents have found each other to love more than anything, we hope you will also have that perfect other piece of the puzzle, that special someone to shake your world, to share all life’s marvelous moments…”
Jungkook couldn’t help glancing at Jimin as he heard his father’s words on soulmates, understanding perfectly what they meant.
“…We love you so much, no matter what never give up on your dreams and never let the hardships on your paths put you down, my angelic Jin and I will be always watching over you, wherever we are. Care for one another, as we always cared for you…”
Hoseok dried tears rolling shyly from his eyes, as held his younger brother Taehyung, who not so different from him, was also crying.
“…In other words, I could not leave you without making sure you would have what it takes to rule tall in this world, all your answers will be answered on my Testament, and I sincerely hope your efforts will be greater as the team I’ve always wanted you to be.
Encased with this letter there’s a first clue to find what kind of destiny awaits you…”
“Wait, does this mean we have to go on a hunt for the Will?” Yoongi interrupted, not really believing in his last words.
“Yes, it seems like your father took care of hiding the documents away for all of you to find it somehow.” Mr. Chang confirmed.
“Unbelievable!” Yoongi pressed fingers on his forehead, very bothered by the situation.
“Ah, old Pa, playing games even after death, how I wish I could see his jokester face right now.” Hoseok laughed lightly, bittersweet feelings floating all around him.
“Should we read the clue?” Mr. Chang asked, turning all their attention back to him.
