New years gone wrong, except there was no prank

Summary:

But it was fine, now that they were finally finished with it all, they could take down the tree after new years and everything would be fine.

And then he got a call from Xiao.

Notes:

Last day, and my last week... damn was I late to a lot of them.

But anyway, this is the last fic!! I'll be explaining my plans for all of these fics in the end notes, so just enjoy this dumpster fire!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Maybe it was the loud children's christmas music blaring from the TV in their dorm, or the fact that Scaramouche and Heizou were currently beating the ever loving shit out of each other, but Venti couldn't help but feel relaxed (though, he should probably get Heizou to stop pulling Scaramouche's hair like it was a christmas present that he couldn't wait to open.)

Nothing could stop him from laughing at every single wall while drinking two bottles of wine at the same time, although somebody really should've been counting the amount of alcohol intake he had in his system, although, everybody else was off far much worse then he was at the moment, so that was probably the reason.

Sitting comfortably on the huge couch with the large tree they had kept for New Years, It was certainly an interesting experience to explain to any other college classmates that the reason they still haven't taken off the christmas tree was because they were saving it for new years.

But it was fine, now that they were finally finished with it all, they could take down the tree after new years and everything would be fine.

And then he got a call from Xiao.

Ignoring the two overgrown college toddlers at the moment, he places the three.. (or two?) Bottles on the coffee table, before answering the phone.

"Hello? Xiao?"

"Venti."

Not liking the sound of his boyfriends' rushed words and stumbles, he leans further and tightens his grip on the phone, "Xiao!? What happened?"

"Kazuha's high."

"What."

"I said that Kazuha's high off his mind!" His partner screams a second time, his voice sounding distant throughout, almost as if he couldn't get any closer to the phone. "I don't know how the hell he got his hands on drugs, but he's hitting curbs left and right! We're gonna fucking die!"

Currently much more sober then he was since the beginning of the party, he pinches his nose briefly and sighs, of all times for him to become the once-in-a-lifetime responsible one of the group.

"Just switch seats! You're there, aren't you? Why do you need to let Kazuha drive?!"

"Why do you think I never got a license, Venti?! I can't reach the fucking pedals!" That seems to get the attention of Scaramouche, who stops slapping Heizou and laughs when he hears it, only to let out a scream that would have the dead waking up once the maroon haired boy punched him in the stomach.

If he could murder four people in seperate places, he would do so without hesitation.

"Wait, Xiao, where even are you two?"

"...Taco Bell." He hears his partner murmur, before a loud crash on the phone disrupts anything he says next.

"Why are you two at Taco Bell?! Aren't you supposed to be at Good Hunters getting the custom orders we spent all of our wages on!"

"Yeah, but I wasn't expecting a Kazuha high out of his mind to drive us! Wait, Kazuha that's a metal pole, Kazuha, no no NO-" The call cuts off and the three of them sit in silence.

Venti gets off the stool he was sitting and drags his feet to the corridor, grabbing his keys and opening the door, "If you two burn down the apartment while I'm away, then you both better prepare for take off." He threatens, before slamming the door shut and running as quickly as he could to the nearest Taco Bell he could remember.

So much for lazing about at a home-party.

Notes:

Wooo, last fic!! Hope you guys liked this journey with me and Mira :)

I am so glad a lot of you sticked around and read our fics, you mean the world to me! I'll be replying to all comments I've gotten now that I dont have a fuck ton of work stacked on top of me like dominos.

As for the fics, I'll be beta-reading them all, fixing the fics that were really short (aka adding just a few descriptions) and then making a new series where I re write all these fics! (Except for most of my first week fics, those were actually some I was satisfied with)

The reason I'm leaving all these fics is so that readers who weren't present for these 30 days could read the original fics in all their trashy glory. And also because a reader suggested that, and it sounded like a really good idea.

Some of the fics will just be extra scenes added, others will be full on reworks (one such example being the day 25 fic, since it was actually supposed to be around 10k words and a lot more plot and different changes!) But I'll be able to actually put quality in all the fics I'll be writing in the future, so it'll be a lot more enjoyable then.

Again, thank you all so much for accompanying me on this journey, and I honestly could never be able to thank all of you guys enough!

But now, I'm gonna be taking a small break and focusing on a lot more things I have planned outside of fics (including a discord writing server for podfics and fic sneak-peeks and a voice acting ao3 account for podfics).

I promise I won't die for 6 months again, I think I'll just dissappear for at least a month or two at best.

Okay, and last but not least, be sure to check out my best friend's account, since they also did this 30 day promptcember challenge with me, and also has 10 other really really well written fics! Their works are literally magnificent and I beg you to go read them, they are literally so good!

Their account:
MiracleWave

And... that's it. Man, realization really hits you right in the balls sometimes, huh? Funny, cause I don't have any.

I remember being terrified with Mira for writing 30 days in a row, but I'm glad I got to do it with my best friend! And to give all the starving VenXiao fans something to read for 30 days, even if the diminishing quality during all weeks... was questionable. Although, that's not the point anymore.

Well, see you all next year! Happy new years!
