Summary
Chris has always been a little different to everyone else, and sometimes he still struggles to understand why. He struggles to understand why a lot of things happen to him, or why he does a lot of things — nobody gets it, really.
Growing up he was always the one to get in trouble with his parents and his teachers for being too loud, too handsy, too emotional, he never got it and it upset him. He hated being scolded and he hated having all the little things that kept him calm taken away because he’s being too distracting or not following rules like his brothers do. So why on earth would he do it on purpose? He knows he can’t blame them when truly no one, not even himself, knows why he is the way he is but surely they’d let him explain it to them. Maybe they could understand; they don’t try to though. Deep down Chris knows no amount of words could ever get him off the hook, no amount of tears or sorry letters could either. After so long you get used to being treated like the gum under someone’s shoe just for being yourself — he’s given up trying to be better for them.
