Silence and the smell of coffee were filling the dark room with almost no one in sight, the only thing that could be heard was the sound of the keyboard keys being pressed by the border collie. The only sources of light that there were where the sunlight trying to enter thru the small gaps between the blinds and the screen of the computer
The dog was Trying to finish one of his books about wildlife and nature in Australia. He was almost done with his writing, or at least that's what he always says, it's pretty common for him to get stuck in his work, the part which he struggles the most with are the cheetah facts…..cheetahs
Gloomy memories always come to him whenever he tries to think about cheetahs, Mackenzie always tries to ignore the problem but deep down He always remembers that day.
The dog shook his head and tried to forget about it, he gave himself some light slaps for concentration and tried to go on with his work “Come on mackenzie, the deadline is close” he told himself to get some energy
Mackenzie skipped the cheetahs and went right to the fruit bats, which also gave him some pretty sad memories
“Ugh bluey! why do you have so many favorite animals…” The room was filled with silence one more time, the border collie took notice of what he said and tried to brush it off to continue with his work, but his thoughts were suddenly interrupted by the sudden ringing of his mobile phone
Mackenzie grabbed the phone and looked at the screen to see who was calling him
He showed a small smile when he realized that Jack and Rusty, two of his best friends, were trying to contact him, it's been a while since they talked to each other, while not years, Mackenzie tends to disappear for a long span of time
Mackenzie entered the call and greeted his friends with happiness “Hi guys, how are you doing?”
Just when Mackenzie said hi a cheerful greeting was heard from the other side of the phone
“Hi Mack!” it was jack Russel “It's been so long since we last talked”
“Yeah mate, how have you been doing lately? we haven't heard from you for a long time” said Rusty
Mackenzie had a concerned look when he heard Rustys question”You know….the usual, just working”
“You are still working on that book? When are you going to finish it?” Jack asked
“Don't you want to take a break? we could go somewhere”
“No thanks, i'm not really in the mood” the border collie declined the kelpies offer
“Come on, we haven't gone out since what feels like forever, we are worried for you mate, have you been going out?”Rusty asked
Mackenzie started to think about the last time he actually saw his friends, it was pretty a pretty long time actually, he always denied to go out just to get his work done, but even then he always feels like he has done no progress at all, making it a cicle without an end “Well….i go out to take pictures for my book, and i do go out to get groceries…does that count?”
“no” both of his friends replied “You need to relax, take a break”
Mackenzie started to think about what rusty told “I'm not sure, i'm almost done with this book, it should be finished by next week” He lied to change the subject
“Hey is this because of bluey?” mackenzie gagged with his coffee when Jack asked him that
The Border collie swallowed the coffee all at once and sighed as a sign of fatigue “No jack, im fine, really”
“Are you sure you have been acting pretty different since bluey left and haven't been the same since then….”Mackenzie was quiet, he didn't know how to respond to that statement
while it's true that he was filling pretty blue lately, he didn't wanted to admit his feelings towards that situation, but even tho he wanted to keep quiet he needed to give a reply “Yeah i'm fine, that was long time ago, already got over it”
“Don't worry mate, we can help on you on finding someone else”
“what are you talking about” mackenzie had a weirded out look while blushing
“You know, like meeting new people and finding someone to go out with” mackenzie madly blushed at his friends request and started to change the subject again
”Look I don't want to be mean but I have a lot of work to do, so if that's all you wanted to say-”
“Oh we were not calling for that reason, we were calling you to tell you the good news!”Jack interrupted Mackenzie, making him confused on what other reason could there possibly be
Both Jack and Rusty were quiet for a short amount of time until they both revealed the grand surprise “Bluey is coming to australia!”
