Work Text:
Henry entered the Brownstone and dropped his bags. It had been a long week in London. Alex would not be home until later, he had sent a message saying that the professor had surprised them with a mock trial.
Henry was disappointed but he understood. They would have the whole weekend together. He reached down and scratched David behind his ears and rubbed his belly. Henry begins to make his way upstairs. Loneliness weighing on him, making his steps slower.
He was going to go upstairs, take a hot shower, order in and crash on the couch with David and Bake Off. If he fell asleep, then Alex would have no choice but to wake him up when he got home.
He reached the room he shared with Alex and took off his jacket. He threw it in the general direction on the closet and started to take off his tie as he headed for the ensuite.
He stopped when he reached the door.
His favorite candles were all covering every surface in the bathroom from the counters to the tub to the top of the toilet. Their clean scent filling the air and the tension that has been there since he left began to unwind.
The bathtub was filled, the scent of his favorite bergamot and lavender bubble bath rising on the steam.
His favorite playlist of soothing piano music was playing over the Bluetooth.
Two arms wrapped around him and a kiss was pressed to the back of his neck.
“Welcome home baby,” Tears filled Henry’s eyes as love filled his heart. He turned and pressed his lips to Alex’s. It was a kiss filled with a week’s worth of longing, passion, missing each other. It was a kiss filled with a love that couldn’t be measured.
They pulled back and pressed their foreheads together.
“You said that you would be late, love.”
“I needed to say something to surprise you baby.”
Henry had never had someone go out of their way to surprise him, to take care of him like Alex did.
“I will never know what I did to deserve you. Thank you for this my love.”
“You deserve the world baby,”
Alex reached over and finished undressing Henry.
“Will you join me, love?”
Alex smiled and took off his sweats. He led Henry over to the tub. He climbed in and helped Henry in and they settled down into the water. Henry leaned back against Alex, settling into his chest. Alex wrapped his arms around Henry and pulled him closer.
Henry tipped his head back, nuzzling into Alex’s neck.
“I missed you.”
“Missed you too baby. I am glad you are back.”
Their lips met again. They relaxed into each other. The candles lights dancing on the walls, the scents of the bubble bath mixing with that of the candles, the warmth of the water helped melt the stress of the week away.
But it was being back in Alex’s arms, feeling his heartbeat, his breath tickling his neck that truly made Henry feel at home. He closed his eyes and snuggled closer to Alex.
It was good to be home.
