“Shit," she hears him say causing her to look back at him. He's looking up at the ceiling now. She can tell he's thinking.
"What? Did you miss book club or something?"
He huffs, almost sounding like a laugh or maybe a scoff that a tough guy like him could be interested in a book club. She could just imagine a group of inmates sitting around a circle discussing the latest trendy romcom.
"You don't know who I am, do you?"
Lucy squints her eyes at him. Was she supposed to be impressed? Sergeant Grey had been vague with the details. Just that he was a high-profile inmate who had been attacked on the yard. She had not been watching the news, she was watching out for him. Reading a book to help the time pass between doctor check-ins. "Am I supposed to?"
