The man was known as Centross.
Centross was proud. Centross was powerful. He had a family who loves him and who he loves too. Centross had fun. Centross had a home. Centross knew how to make people smile even when he could not himself.
The man was known as The Reaper.
The Reaper was strong. The Reaper was powerful. He took lives like it was nothing and learned to spare them too. The Reaper had understanding. The Reaper had a role. The Reaper knew what he would have to do when the time came.
The man was called David.
David was damaged. David was powerless. But he pushed his pain down and kept going. David had determination. David seeked out meaning. And David learned to let others see and guide him.
There were 3 times Icarus had called the man David.
The first was the time before the rain. The time when questions had answers and the land was peaceful. Icarus asked to see inside him, and they did. They didn’t understand how or why, but the two understood each other. And Icarus referred to him respectively.
The second was the times of pain. The times when anger burned hot and pain was meant to leave scars. The name was an insult. The name was a reminder. What was once a gate to inside him now stood as a painful reference to what once was.
The third was the end of times. A desperate plea to hang on. A last chance to reach him in the rawest form, the one they had seen, the one they yearned for and loved.
But this was the end of times. There would be no answer.
