The others asked Joe and Nicky to take the night off before a mission, so they found a restaurant nearby.
Joe: "Hello, most handsome man in the world."
Joe kissed Nicky. It was one of the best things about Norway in the year 2025. No one would burn you at the stake anymore or try to kill you for kissing your husband in public.
Nicky: "Hi you. Where did you go?"
Joe: "I just wanted to get you something."
Joe, who had his hands behind his back, produced a big bouquet of red roses with a big smile.
Nicky: "Oh, Yusuf. They are beautiful."
Joe gave Nicky the roses, who took a sniff at them before he smiled at Joe.
Nicky: "And the smell. They smell divine."
Joe: "Glad you like them. I can't remember the last time I gave you flowers."
Joe sat down and took Nicky's hands in his.
Nicky: "I think it was back in Prague, or was it Singapore?"
Joe: "I don't think it was Singapore because all I remember from that place is the angry woman who hit me with a broom."
Nicky laughed.
Joe: "Yeah, you're laughing, which you also did back then instead of saving me."
Nicky: "It was really your own fault. If you hadn't taken a shortcut through her spice shop and knocked over a jar with saffron, then you wouldn't have ended up in trouble."
The Waitress: "Are you ready to order, or do you need five minutes more?"
They ordered the food and a good bottle of wine. The Waitress promised to find a vase for the roses and took them.
Joe: "About that spice shop. If that idiot hadn't..."
Nicky took Joe's hand.
Nicky: "Could we not talk about work tonight? Who knows when we will have a moment to ourselves again?"
Joe kissed Nicky's hand.
Joe: "You're right as always, Hayati. Let's, instead, talk about how beautiful you look as always."
Nicky: "I think we can come up with something else as a subject."
Joe: "But you're my favourite subject to talk about. Have I ever told you that you're even more beautiful than the evening star in the night sky?"
It turned out to be yet a perfect date night, and when they returned to the others, they were more than ready to go on the mission. And as usual, Nicky would place the red roses on a young lovers' grave, who didn't get to have a whole life together like they got. It was something that Joe approved of.
