Work Text:

1.

There’s a few things Minjeong hates.

She’s not the type to work with others, for say.

Her aunt has tried to convince her to join the avengers but truthfully, as much as she would like to, she wants to enjoy her life a bit more before throwing herself into that mess. She rather work by herself anyways, which quite frankly, has been going very well.

But it just so happens to be that a certain feline, likes making a mess all over her hard work. She’s not a brat, but it does annoy her seeing the feline approach her on her own motorcycle from behind.

Black cat’s not necessarily a ‘good girl’ either. She’s- quite the opposite of that.

On top of a building, Minjeong lets her eyes in her mask to zoom in and scope out the scene, noticing the trail of delinquents running from a group of cops. It’s mayhem in New York, another thing she dislikes—her peaceful time being disrupted.

A hand gently grabs at her neck, forcing her to look upwards. “Hey, hot stuff. What are you up to now?” A husky, deep voice seeps into Minjeong’s ears, claws digging into her throat.

The brunette opens her eyes, meeting a familiar gaze and sly smile. “Karina, I’m not in the mood to play games with you today.” She mutters lowly, removing the feline’s hand from her throat.

Turning around, she watches as Karina springs backwards, landing on her feet to cross her arms. “I thought we agreed to drop the professional names because that was not what and how you were calling me when we were-”

Minjeong swings her arms frantically in attempt to cut the latter off before pinching the bridge of her nose. “I really do not want to recall such a memory. That was a one time thing.” She sighs lowly, tuning back around to see that she’s lost sight of the men she was eyeing.

She promised not to get mad at Karina but that was a huge blow. Not wanting to trudge around any longer, Minjeong leaps off the building, diving downwards and extending her wings to change directions. As she shoots out webs to begin swinging, beside her, she sees Karina grappling and hopping from one building to another, following her.

Shaking her head, the brunette reminds herself to deal with the feline later. Right now, there’s some burglars she has to deal with.

Luckily for her, she manages to land on top of one of the stolen cars carefully. “Yizhuo, are they in here? I rather not hurt innocent people.” She quips, yet hears dead silence from her friend on the older end.

“Yes, sorry, sorry! Aeri texted me about getting food later. They’re in there. 4 of them.” Yizhuo responds and immediately Minjeong jumps in front of the car, using her strength to prevent it from moving any further.

The car comes to a dead stop in the middle of an empty road and as soon as it does, the brunette waits for the burglars to realize that she’s in front of them. They stumble out of the car, pointing guns at the brunette.

Minjeong lifts an eyebrow under mask, raising her hands up. “Guys, I don’t think you want to do-” Before they can shoot at her, the brunette shoots webs at their guns to bring them toward her. “-That.” She sighs, throwing the guns far, far, away.

Looking at their empty hands, one of the men lift a pocket knife—which Minjeong also takes away. “Seriously guys. No weapons.” The brunette warns them again.

She yelps when they all charge at her. They’re a little slow, their punches moving in slow motion but when they manage to land hits on her, Minjeong can admit they hurt. And she can’t tell if it’s her luck or not, but the rest of their goons come out to help, nearly catching her off guard while trying to fight them all.

It’s definitely her luck when Black Cat comes out of thin air and begins fighting the other half of the thieves. Under her mask, Minjeong is slightly relieved and also slightly annoyed that she realizes Karina is only helping her out to gather her attention. However, after a few minutes or so, the men are on the ground, groaning in pain.

Minjeong webs them together, leaving Karina without a goodbye just as soon as the police catch up to them. She knows Yunho wouldn’t want to see her around the city again knowing how much he hates her.

Her sense of direction always seems to work whenever she has to locate the shortcut of an alley to rush back home before her neighbor can make an inference that she’s gone. The other half is due to the feline never being able to follow her when she dropped the webs and walked on feet.

“Is that all? I only get to see you when you’re fighting crime?” A familiar voice surprises her, as a warm body presses her against the brick wall. Platinum hair manages to tickle her through her suit and she figures that the cat has caught the spider—again.

Breathing deeply, Minjeong patiently watches as a certain feline smiles widely while tugging her mask off. “Karina-” The brunette tries to speak but is soon cut off by soft lips pressing against her’s.

Minjeong despises how her body reacts to Karina’s touch like muscle memory, melting against her and pulling the feline closer by strongly tugging on her waist. The feline’s claws barely scratches at her neck, and Karina is smiling against her mouth, something Minjeong knows all too well.

Realizing what is going on, Minjeong gently pushes Karina away, attempting to catch her breath. “What are you doing?” She lifts her head to glare at the girl in front of her.

Removing her own mask, the brunette catches sight of Karina’s full face, piercing eyes boring into her own with mirth. “Well, we just kissed and you seemed to like it because you only pulled me closer.” She simply says, looking around, away from the brunette’s eyes.

In disbelief, Minjeong huffs lowly. She couldn’t believe the older girl sometimes. “Well, since you have nothing important to say to me, I’m leaving.” The brunette juts her thumb behind her, in the direction of her apartment—that Karina’s been too way to many times..

Always, always, Karina just happens to have a response to her words. Karina’s head faces the brunette’s body, runs a dangerous sly finger down her chest. “You know I have a suggestion. We could leave, together, since I missed you so much.” The feline offers and it makes Minjeong laugh in amuse.

The brunette crawls up the brick wall, pulling on her mask.

“In your dreams, Black Cat.” Minjeong scraps the plan to walk. No matter where she goes, she’s prey.

Karina watches from below as Minjeong swings away. She shakes her head before grinning and disappearing into the shadows.

Swinging with a sub in her hand isn’t the most practical way to spend her night. She should’ve been at home, eating that same sub in the kitchen, not barely holding it in her hand while swinging.

“There better be a good reason why I’m out here in this cold, Zhou.” She mutters under her breath, approaching the mess on the streets. “You’re kidding.”

The goblin just doesn’t leave her alone, does he?

Pissed, she throws the rest of her sandwich at Green Goblin’s head, diving off the building and catching the sandwich when it bounces of the villain’s head.

With half of her mask off, leaning on a lamppost, Minjeong chews on her sandwich while the goblin tries to scope her out.

“Come out, Spidey!” Green Goblin called out into the depths of the air, the citizens around him gaining enough time to escape the area.

Minjeong’s mask eyes slowly blink with curiosity, mouth stuffed with the remaining of her sandwich. “No hello, how are you, Spidey, Sooman? Just straight to being grouchy, okay!” Shooting a web at the Green Goblin up at the air, the webs attach to his hover board, Minjeong tugging harshly to bring him down.

He struggles to stay up, fighting against her strength. “Let go of me!” He screeches, shooting a blast at her from his blaster. She manages to dodge them, approaching the villain to engage in combat.

Minjeong tugs him down again, giving him a sucker punch across his mask. “Do stupid stuff, win stupid prizes.” She mumbles when he stumbles off his hoverboard, the brunette kicking it off somewhere.

When he orients himself, Minjeong notices him pull out his blaster to began shooting at her. She does a good job dodging them until she realizes what he was actually shooting at.

Behind her, was a large construction zone, and above her, a long metal slab was on the verge of breaking. If it fell, it’d fall on top of the pizza parlor, her favorite parlor which looked to still have people in it.

He keeps shooting at the metal, until it finally breaks, falling toward the parlor. Cursing, Minjeong runs over, shooting webs at the base of the slab to direct it from the parlor. However, the green goblin sends another blast toward her, causing Minjeong to pull the slab away from the parlor but it comes flying toward her way and lands on her stomach.

The brunette screams in agony, feeling the sharp edge of the slab dig painfully into her stomach. Knowing she couldn’t let Green Goblin go, she uses all her strength to push the slab off her, the metal clattering onto the concrete loudly.

Though in pain, she grabs the same metal slab to hurl it toward green goblin, finally knocking him off his hover board before he can escape. They both fall onto the ground, the brunette clutching her stomach in the pain and feeling blood pool from the wound.

Minjeong’s vision starts to blur, and she can see Green Goblin scrambling away. She’s too weak to chase after him anyways.

“Minjeong, are you okay?” She hears Yizhuo ask and truthfully, her head is ringing.

Suddenly, hands grab at her cheeks, frantically removing her mask. “Hey, Minjeong, baby, stay with me.” One hand presses against her stomach, causing the brunette to cry out in pain. “Shit, sorry. You’re bleeding a lot.”

Finding the strength to breathe and open her eyes, she meets familiar orbs that are—surprisingly filled with worry. “I’m fine, I just need to-”

Karina helps her up, throwing her arm around her shoulder. "No, you’re not. That might scar if you don’t get it sorted out soon. " The platinum haired girl begs, watching as Minjeong attempts to stand up by herself.

Arguing with the older girl usually ended up nowhere and she’s too tired to even do so. So she let the feline take her wherever, a level of trust sitting in her heart that Karina will take care of her.

She finds herself in Karina’s luxury penthouse, acquired from her father. Turning on the light, Karina led her over to the couch and helped her lay down. Her body was already healing, but it didn’t mean her wound wasn’t hurting. She has a few cuts on her lip and eyebrow, which don’t compare to the gaping laceration on her stomach. Her suit happened to take a knock in protecting her.

She takes a quick shower before heading back to her spot on the couch, her wound a bit cleaner but still bleeding a bit more than she would’ve liked.

While waiting for Karina, she sits up, looking around the cozy home. Beige and gray decorates most of the penthouse, with two cats roaming around. It isn’t the first time she’s visited, and everytime she does visit, she doesn’t miss the feeling of comfort she feels being here.

The feline eventually comes back with a few things in hand. She sits down beside the brunette, ushering for her to lay down again. “Take off your shirt. I need to inspect how bad this is.” Karina instructs.

Slightly hesitant, Minjeong reaches for the hem of her shirt, hoisting it over. The older girl helps her remove the shirt, seeing how the brunette is struggling. They take it off together, leaving Minjeong in her sports bra. Immediately, Karina reaches over to lightly graze the wound, apologizing when the brunette whines in pain.

“Sorry babe. Telling by the looks of it, your body is already working in repairing the wound so you’re in luck, no stitches. Although, I’ll still have to clean it so it doesn’t get affected. After that, we’ll wrap it up in guaze and have you stay the night. You need to rest.” Karina begins reaching for guaze pad, soaking it in saline solution.

Carefully, the platinum haired girl works in wiping the area, constantly glancing over toward the younger with soft eyes to make sure she’s okay. There’s a few times where the feline applies pressure on the wound, causing the brunette to bite her bottom lip to prevent herself from crying.

Karina uses one hand to stroke her messy brown hair from her face before wiping her tears. “You’re doing well, baby, I’m almost done.” She kisses Minjeong’s cheek and soon after goes back to tending to her wound.

After long minutes of agony, Karina takes out a few patches, setting them across her stomach. Minjeong guesses from the coolness she feels, that there’s medicated ointment under them. They soothe her wound and allow her to properly breathe for a moment.

Minjeong then has to sit up in order for the platinum haired girl to wrap the gauze around her stomach. “Where did you learn how to do all of this from?” She asks with sincerity.

Not removing her gaze from Minjeong’s stomach, Karina chuckles. “I’m interning at a hospital. These are stuff I have engraved in my head now.” The platinum haired girl explains, fixing out the guaze.

By now, the brunette’s zoned in on Karina’s beautiful face, so determined to tend to her wound when Minjeong probably would’ve wrapped it and called it a day. Instead, the feline knew she was in trouble and made it her mission to take care of. She knew Karina cared about her, but she didn’t know it was this much. It made her heart slightly flutter along with her brain filling up with stupid ideas.

Blinking dazedly, she remembers to show that she’s listening. “That’s great, Karina. I’m proud of you.” The brunette breathes out, fighting a smile.

The platinum haired girl freezes in her work, turning her head to look down at Minjeong. “You’re proud of me? Is something wrong? I hope Norman didn’t hit your head too.” Karina leans down to inspect the younger’s head, although, the brunette grabs her wrist and shakes her head.

“He didn’t. It’s actually me saying it. I’m happy for you, Karina. I’m glad you’ve found something you love.” Unable to take the gaze of sharp feline eyes, Minjeong stares up at the ceiling in attempt to hide.

A long silent moment passes before the brunette assumes the feline is done tending to her wound. She sits up and clears her throat, clutching her stomach. “Anyways, I’m going to go-” She doesn’t quite finish her sentence or even form a cohesive thought because the platinum haired girl kisses her.

Not a peck but a very long kiss; one that may as well possibly healed all the bruises and cuts on her body. Their lips fit perfectly in between each other’s like their lips are meant be puzzle pieces slotted into eachother. As much as Minjeong continues to push Karina away, ignores her, she’ll never be able to get over the fact that of everything crazy about them—being with the platinum haired girl is the one thing in this world that seems somewhat right.

Karina pulls away, leaving the brunette in daze. Her eyes still remain on Minjeong’s mouth as she inhales and exhales. “No, you’re staying the night. It’s not like you haven’t been here before. You know this place like the back of your hand. So stay, please.” The platinum haired girl’s chest falls, her shoulders slouching through the last of her resolves, in pleading.

The expression on the feline’s face gnaws at the brunette’s heart. She looks down at her lap before lifting her head in defeat. “Fine. I’ll stay. Doc’s orders.” Minjeong mocks with tints of sarcasm. Karina playfully shoves her, the brunette feigning a look of pain.

Eyes widening, the feline splutters out apologies, thinking she actually hurt the younger. She laughs when she notices the smug look on Minjeong’s face. Minjeong needs something to reassure the feline that’ll she turn out just fine.

It takes a little leap of faith to lean her forehead against Karina’s, staring into her pretty eyes. “I’ll be okay, we both know how strong I am.” She grins stupidly, pecking the feline’s lips gently.

Karina nods her head in agreement. “Yeah because someone wanted to play hero and saved innocent people’s lives. You’re a hero, Minjeong.” She pushes back stray strands of hair behind the brunette’s ear.

A hero.

There’s a lot of things Minjeong’s heard about being spider min, a hero is one thing and hearing it from a pretty girl’s mouth is another.

Two different worlds that always clash.

A type of bliss that only comes with being with Karina. She doesn’t mind savoring it for a bit longer.

3 in the afternoon.

No calls from her friends, no strange sightings and no black cat. A peaceful, peaceful day.

Nothing can go wrong. No work either. It’s as if it’s almost the perfect day.

That’s until she hears a knock on her window. When she turns around to look, she mutters curses under her breath. “What is she doing here?”

Minjeong walks over and reluctantly opens the window, letting Karina inside. “Okay, that really wasn’t the sign for you to invite yourself into my home.” She rolls her eyes as the feline fixes her clothes before shutting the window behind her.

It’s embarrassing to think that this is not the first time they’ve seen eachother without their suits, that they know eachother’s secrets. Sometimes, Minjeong gets scared as to how much the older girl knows about her and why she continues to let Karina play all these stupid games with her.

Pressing a kiss to her cheek, Karina hugs her tightly. “Good afternoon to you too, babe.” When she grasps the look on Minjeong’s unamused face, it’s a sign for the silver haired girl to hop onto her couch.

Following in her steps, Minjeong remembers to keep a gap between them on the couch. “Karina, what are you doing here?” She asks seriously, trying her best not to let her eyes drop to the feline’s plump lips.

The girl next to her crosses her legs, patting the brunette’s lap. “I was not lying that time when I said that I missed you. Why do you think it’s so hard for someone like me to admit that?” Karina questions with genuine curiosity, stern eyes glazing with an urge to find out the truth.

Minjeong thinks to herself. Why can’t she admit that Karina—might like her more than she should? That she might like Karina more than she knew she did?

And it’s not like the brunette doesn’t like the feline either, the responses to her kisses probably tells Karina every thing she knows. So what exactly is it?

Breathing in and out, she fights between lying and telling the truth. Does the black cat deserve any of that?

“I don’t know, Karina. We’re two different people. It’s not right.” Minjeong feels a sting, feels her wound bleed out at her lies.

But it’s true, because in new york’s eyes, Karina is a villain and Minjeong a hero. In Minjeong’s head, she knows the feline has changed because she pops in to help her sometimes, though, it doesn’t mean it’s accepted Karina. They were slowly trying to.

For a split second, the brunette nearly misses the twinkle of sadness in the silver haired girl’s eyes. It breaks her heart to say at least.

Although, the feline shifts closer, caressing Minjeong’s cheek ever so gently. “Kiss me like it’s your last time kissing me, and then look into my eyes whether or not you feel that…. all of this is wrong.” Karina searches her eyes desperately.

For some strange reason, Minjeong doesn’t even hesitate, cupping Karina’s cheek and bringing their lips together. This time, it’s not heated like all the secretive kisses outside, blink periods of time before they go their own separate. This time, it’s slow, sure, it makes the brunette’s heart flutter, feeling the feline melt into her and kiss her back with just as much passion as she does.

She practically engulfs Karina’s lips, brushing the baby hairs near the older’s ear carefully. In Karina, she seemingly is able to breathe. It’s a lot harder separating from eachother, a pull and tug, like they’re connected through magnets and struggle to pull away.

Her mind clicks awake from its daze and separates their lips slowly. They’re both breathing hard and Minjeong can practically feel her heart booming in her ears.

She keeps her hand on Karina’s cheek as she closes her eyes and realizes that she might be screwed. Big time.

When she opens them, she meets the feline’s eyes, sharp and knowing what she wants. “So? If you tell me to go, I will, Minjeong.” Karina searches her eyes once again, and tugs at her shirt.

Does she truly want to never see Karina again?

The thought of it makes Minjeong’s heart clench painfully. There’s no need to deny it, the height of her day consist of Karina. Her heart is practically singing at their close proximity.

It doesn’t feel wrong to admit that or kiss her.

Sneaking a peck onto her mouth, she can feel Karina’s lips widen.

“You can stay, Karina.” She breathes out in relief.

“You’re going to have to hold onto me very tightly if we want this to work.” On the edge of a building, with Karina pressed up against her front, Minjeong prepares to swing.

They have to move quickly or they’re going to lose hammerhead. She watches as Black cat wraps her arms around her shoulders tightly. “As long as you promise not to kill me, Jeong.” She narrows her eyes at a playful brunette.

The younger girl nearly laughs when she jumps off the building without warning and Karina’s screaming loud enough to awake the citizens of Brooklyn. Minjeong keeps her arm around the platinum haired girl’s waist right as she gets them across the city.

Being with Karina during a moment like this one, makes her grin like an idiot in love.

They follow hammerhead’s ride from the air, Yizhuo tracking his car from her room. They eventually land on top of his car, humorously staring at eachother as they remain on top of the large clunk of metal.

“Ready?” Minjeong asks, her spidey eyes raising. Black cat nods, her silver hair gleaming in the moonlight.

Karina walks over to the from window, bending down to knock on the glass. “Hi, boys!” She yells loudly, watching as Minjeong jumps in front of the car.

Using her strength in the middle of the empty road, the brunette stops the car by pushing against the bumper and putting it to a complete stop. She stands up straight, slamming the hood loudly, earning startled screams from the group of men inside the car.

Minjeong motions for them to get out of the car. “Get out. Come on.” She continues waving them out, hammerhead stepping down from the truck with his hands up.

Black cat finds her way beside the brunette, claws trailing up Minjeong’s back. “Boys, we can do this two ways. Either you surrender now and we’ll spare you a beating or you can do this the hard way.” Karina purrs slyly, knowing her voice will catch the men’s attention.

Eventually, a few of them falls for Karina’s tricks, which is understandable, Minjeong often fell into a lovesick daze whenever the feline wanted to seduce her who is way too often. She’s not complaining though!

One of the men end up approach Karina, reaching for her platinum hair. But before he can hold a strand in his hand, Karina drives a knee into his stomach and throws him to the side.

Black Cat is already diving into combat with the group of men, sweeping them off their feet. Minjeong watches by the car, crossing her arms as she leans back.

“You’re not gonna help her?” Yizhuo asks in her mask.

Minjeong shakes her help. “I don’t know, I don’t think she needs my help-” She becomes alert when Hammerhead sends Karina flying toward a wall. “Hey, Hammerhead, no touching my girlfriend!” The brunette jumps up into the air, kicking the large man with both feet with all her might away from Karina.

Whenever her and black cat fight together, there’s always a protective mode her body goes into when it comes to Karina. And it’s not like the older girl can’t take care of herself. She can, but of course she’s going to retaliate if she sees the platinum haired girl take a knock.

Luckily, Karina took care of Hammerhead’s goons, so all was left was the big guy himself. She’s learnt ways to hold advantage — like web his feet together and let gravity do its job of knocking him off balance. She does it every time and she’s starting to think the police need to do a better job keeping him contained.

“So you got the little kitty to help you now? You don’t know the true her, do you?” Hammerhead mutters as Minjeong webs his feet together. It nearly catches her off guard as she tries to understand what he meant.

If it meant how Karina used to be a burglar then Minjeong knew about it. She actually convinced the feline to give the life of crime up by agreeing to let her go on runs against crime with her. That way, it isn’t Black Cat she’s catching red handed anymore.

But when she looks at the platinum haired girl beside her, Karina’s eyes widens in fear. “Min-”

Minjeong’s heart drops to her stomach. “What is he talking about?” She stares at the feline trying to approach her.

Beside them, webbed to the truck, hammerhead laughs in amuse. “You haven’t told her how you’ve been leading her on to catch her off guard so kingpin could eventually defeat her? Getting you to let your guard down so she could strike at the right moment?” His grin is evil, slightly sending shivers down the brunette’s back.

Karina tries to speak, reaching over to Minjeong. Her spidey sense goes off, causing the brunette to hesitantly stumble backwards, her spidey eyes matching with the frown on her mouth under the mask. “Minjeong, please, just let me explain-” The feline’s bottom lip quivers.

Although, the brunette is already running the opposite direction, knowing their work is already done. Police sirens are becoming louder and louder as she swings away as fast as she can, not caring that she bumps into objects. She just wants to get out of here, before she breaks down on top of a random building.

Once she gets to the apartment, she removes her suit, throwing it off somewhere. She takes the longest shower she has ever taken, crying in the shower as she leans her head against the wall. The pain in her heart compared to every other injury she’s sustained is ten times more painful.

That’s what she gets for trusting a villain. Minjeong can’t believe she thought the feline had changed. It’s the reason why she didn’t fall for Karina’s sweet talk at first, it was never even supposed to get this far. She was never supposed to fall in love.

For the next few days, Minjeong has only been to two places. Home and work. She doesn’t have time to dwell on her love life, not when she’s the only hero this city has. During the things she did, all she could think about was Karina, how someone so dear to her never wanted her in the first place. Then why did Karina’s act of care seem so genuine? Did she truly go out of her way to reach her?

All those secret kisses they shared, all those times they stayed at eachother’s home, tracing each other’s features in the bed, sharing intimate moments, bumping their noses together or those fond gazes they shared. Was it all fake? For show?

Minjeong should’ve know what she was getting herself into. Karina was a sly cat, so capable of seducing others, gathering their attention. The usual habits the feline used on others didn’t work on the brunette at first. Their relationship grew through run ins, teasing banter and a patiently grown friendship.

Then they fell in love, or atleast she did.

She really liked being around Karina. She made her want to be a better person, be her normal nerdy shy self because the platinum haired girl seemed to adore it so much.

Now, on the edge of the bed, her hair is wet, from a long shower and she’s settled, getting consoled by Yizhuo over the phone for another day, until she hears a loud knock.

Startled, she lifts the phone to tell Yizhuo she’ll call her back and makes the move to head over to her door. When she opens the door, she meets a teary feline.

Truthfully, Minjeong thinks she has some guts to come all the way here and show up in front of her door. “What are you doing here?” She swallows as she struggles to keep her voice sharp.

As much as she hates to admit it, the fragile sight of Karina slightly makes her chest hurt. Like a sharp jolt to her heart. She hates herself for still caring about the platinum head after all this time.

“Please let me explain. You never gave me the chance to.” Karina breathes in, her body ever so shaking from choked sob.

Minjeong’s face screws with hurt, disappointment and disbelief. “How could I, when the look on your face told me all I needed to know? Forget it, Karina. I’m not going to fall for your stupid tricks anymore. You want me dead anyways.” She moves to close the door but of course, the older pushes it open.

The feline steps into Minjeong’s space, sending her heart in a tumble all over again that she nearly curses under her breath.

Karina searches her face, slowly reaching for her hand and tugging on it gently. “Just let me get this off my chest and I promise I’ll leave you alone after.” Her sharp eyes tear into Minjeong’s hazel orbs, and like all those times before, they soften under her gaze.

Biting the inside of her cheek, she sighs and moves out of the way to let the older in.

They sit on the couch, the gap in between more than needed. Minjeong is afraid they’ll do something they’re not meant to if they don’t have space.

The platinum haired girl’s tears are dry, however, her eyes are red from obviously crying. “I’m not going to lie and say what hammerhead said was wrong because it’s the truth. It was at first. He’s only halfway right.” She folds her hands in her lap, fiddling with her fingers.

Minjeong’s fingers twitches in response, muscle memory nearly throwing her resolve out the window.

Karina takes the younger’s silence as a sign to continue. “You knew me, what I did in the earlier days. Before I truly got to know you, that was my goal. To throw you off balance so kingpin could defeat you. But that plan was quickly and so easily thrown out of the window when we started talking, having teasing banters. You were just supposed to become another prey, I wasn’t supposed to fall in love with you.” The platinum haired girl’s voice lowers to a whisper.

The feline shifts further more in her seat, simply trying to find words to say. “We grew closer, and even if I was a villain, you took me in when nobody else would. I grew forward to catching you in the alley and feeling your lips, your body on mine. Then we truly got to know eachother and I agreed to give up the one thing that gave me thrill just so I could spend time with you. It was my fault for not telling you. I wanted to completely forget about even harming you because the sight of seeing you hurt gnawed at my heart. Minjeong, I mean it when I say that I would never want to hurt you. You mean the world to me and I can’t bear to spend another day without you.” She finally looks up, meeting the brunette’s eyes.

Pressing her lips in a thin line, the feline closes the gap between them. “I love you, Minjeong, and I hope you can forgive me. I don’t know what I have to do to earn your trust back but I can assure you that I don’t want to be your enemy anymore.” Her expression radiates hope, and it’s the key to Minjeong’s heart.

In Karina’s eyes, she sees that the older girl is telling the truth, because there’s hints of sincerity and fondness. The very brown eyes Minjeong fell in love with. It’s there, has always been and it never left. She couldn’t believe that for a second, she even doubted her.

If anything, if Karina wanted to give her way to her enemies, she probably would’ve done that a long ago, yet she didn’t.

Immediately, Minjeong hits her forehead with the palm of her head. “I’m so stupid. I didn’t even let you explain because I jumped to conclusions and I- and I doubted you. I’m so sorry, Karina. You didn’t deserve any of this, me shutting you out.” She continues hitting her forehead until another hand prevents her from making anymore painful contact with her head.

She doesn’t deserve Karina.

Karina grabs her hand, intertwining their fingers, finally closing the gap between them. “It’s okay. I forgave you a long time ago because I knew you had your reasons regarding our situation but you have to believe when I said I’ve changed. You changed me.” Her other hand caressing Minjeong’s cheek, thumb brushing gently over her skin.

The brunette nearly sobs at her though, squeezing the hand on her cheek. “I’m sorry, Karina. I’m so sorry. I don’t know how you can ever forgive me.” She leans in to rest their foreheads together and Minjeong feels a little relieved.

What surprises her is that the feline connects their lips together, already pulling Minjeong into a deep kiss. The brunette instantly reciprocates, not realizing how much she missed Karina’s lips in between her’s. Minjeong shifts, their lips moving together like they’ve never missed a beat.

Is she head over heels? Yes! Is black cat still really good at stealing stuff? Yes! Because she’s stolen Minjeong’s heart—maybe for good!

After a long moment, Minjeong pulls away to catch her breath. “I love you too and I’ve never gotten a chance to tell you that but now I don’t want another second where I don’t have you and you don’t know how much I love you.” She squeezes Karina’s hand on her cheek again, feeling the weight on her shoulders lift.

A deep exhale is released from the platinum haired girl, her body melting against Minjeong. “So we’re okay? I- I don’t want to stay away from you any longer. The only reason I did, was to give you time. Had I gone any earlier, I don’t think we’d be here.” She chuckles lowly, fighting the grin on her lips.

Minjeong’s glad she let the feline steal the key to her heart. “We’re okay. Thank you for forgiving me after….. all that.” Her head falls to Karina’s shoulder, snuggling into her warmth.

The feline only hugs her tighter. “Well, I can start to forgive you even more by you staying with me.” Karina strokes her brown hair softly, gives Minjeong more of a reason as to why she doesn’t deserve the older.

They don’t leave each other’s arms for the rest of the day.

Minjeong’s been a bit grumpy, a little upset. As grumpy as Karina’s cats.

She’s not one to be jealous about anything, but this is Karina she’s talking about. Everybody would kill to date her, let along spend some time with her.

It’s not like they hide their relationship either, the brunette gladly and proudly holds Karina’s hand when they’re walking through the city. She loves it when the feline links their fingers together, pointing out the beautiful nature of Brooklyn.

Karina’s open about their relationship too, she makes Minjeong feel loved, in every which way. Sometimes, on her way from work, she’d bring some of her favorite takeout if she has an early shift that doesn’t end too late. Minjeong loves her just as much, always buying the girl items that reminded her of the platinum haired girl, or her favorite things she likes.

They fit together like puzzle pieces despite being polar opposite in personality. But they don’t care, they love eachother. They’re perfect for eachother.

Again, Kim Minjeong never gets jealous, except if it’s about a person she loves so dearly.

Her girlfriend is just too good at telling when she’s bothered. “He’s just being friendly, love. If anything, I don’t like him, and I probably never will. I only have one type.” Karina tells her, patting her thigh under the table.

They’re eating lunch at a small quiet cafe, and the waiter has been being way overly friendly to Karina. He even pulled the ‘call me’ trick and wrote his number on the feline’s napkin! (Karina ripped it up as soon as she realized what it was.)

She can’t deny that the man is good looking. Anyone with eyes could see that. She’s not insecure, because she’s much more better looking than he is, so she’s not worried about that. Although, Karina loves people with sweet personalities, loves when they’re charming as well.

Minjeong crosses her legs and arms, reaching out the slice a piece of her pastry to lift it to her mouth. She’s been quiet, so highly aware of her surroundings.

Humming, she leans over to feed Karina a bite, which the older gladly accepts. “I know, you do love a sweet talker.” Her back reaches her seat, and she can see Karina rolling her eyes.

The guy comes by another time, too many times for their table with all the customers in the cafe. Seriously, she knows her girlfriend is beautiful, so of course, she’s going to gather attention. She just…… doesn’t like the feeling of knowing that other people have intentions.

“He can look all he wants but he can’t touch.” The platinum haired girl presses a kiss to the apple of her cheek, right in front of the waiter. Minjeong blushes, eyes on the man who frowns.

Jerking her head toward the feline, Minjeong pats the area where Karina placed her lips onto. “You did that on purpose, didn’t you?” She watches as Karina grins mischievously.

The older shrugs, eyes following the man as he walks away. “He doesn’t have a chance, and there’s no need to be jealous.” Then, Karina goes back to stealing bites from her pastry.

In front of her, Minjeong scoffs in disbelief. “I’m not jealous.” She crosses her arms again, which her girlfriend giggles in response to.

They eventually leave, and as Karina’s swinging their interlocked hands up and down excitedly, the brunette can’t help but smile knowing she loved the older a tremendous amount to admit nonverbally, that she was just a little jealous.

She trusts Karina, with all her being. She can’t imagine being with anyone else but her. Yeah, there’s little hints of fear that one day, they’ll part from eachother, yet, Minjeong’s love for the older only seems to grow tenfolds. She hopes it’s the same for Karina.

Her heart feels it everyday and it sings knowing that Karina loves her just as much.

“Babe, don’t break anything if you’re going to use webs in the house!” Minjeong hears Karina yell from their room.

She can’t do anything with her powers if her girlfriend has super good senses.

To be honest, she just wanted to get a snack from the fridge. She decided to use her webs across the living room from the couch to open the fridge and steal a bottle of water and an apple. But it seems she’s not being very quiet about it. Or maybe Karina has lived with her long enough to tell when she’s using webs inside.

Oh, yeah, she moved in with the feline after Karina complained that she was lonely in her large penthouse. It was a very cute way that her girlfriend asked too, so she couldn’t say no.

After successfully retrieving her wanted items without breaking anything, she turns around to jump over the couch but before she can, Karina approaches her and holds her firmly by her hips.

Minjeong jumps out of surprise as she feels a light peck against her neck. When she turns around, a smile is what she meets. “You scared me.” She holds her chest while her girlfriend laughs in response.

Leaning in to capture her lips in her’s, the platinum haired girl gently squeezes Minjeong’s hips. In response, the brunette moves her items to one hand, latching a hand by Karina’s neck and kissing her surely. It’s barely enough, something short of a few seconds. But it’s the evening, and there’s no need for them to rush.

When the older pulls away first, Minjeong smiles like a fool in love. “Instead of you making actual food, you’re eating an apple?” The feline moves her hands up her arms, over her shoulders before fully encircling her arms around Minjeong’s neck.

It gives the brunette a sign to place the items down to place her hands on Karina’s waist to near her. Karina’s hand digs into her hair, making her relax as she stares at her.

“I was really only grabbing stuff to watch a movie.” Minjeong replies with some teasing. She doesn’t know what she’s thinking trying to be sly with Black Cat out of all people.

Except, Karina doesn’t separate their lips, only pulling back slightly to continuously peck her lips. It’s so easy to be lulled when the feline does this. Minjeong simply melts against her, placing her on the edge of the counter, in between the platinum haired girl’s legs as the lock around her waist.

Then in between, their foreheads meet, and in a snap, the brunette thinks she rather stay in Karina’s embrace than watch the movie.

“How do you manage to always take my breath away and steal my heart, love?” Minjeong’s voice is a whisper against Karina’s lips.

The answer is obvious, inevitable. Karina is black cat, and the brunette thinks she should be arrested for such a crime.

Her girlfriend chuckles lowly, her fingers playing with brown hair. “You’re so undeniably corny that it’s kind of adorable. But, are you going to arrest me for committing this said crime?” Black cat’s eyebrow furrows in curiosity, waiting for Minjeong’s answer.

Stealing another long kiss, the brunette has the answer. “Your punishment is staying with me forever because I need my heart to live, don’t I?”

Karina playfully shoves her shoulder. “We’re both guilty, then!” She scowls when the brunette nods in agreement.

Yeah, maybe they both are guilty because Minjeong has also been handed the key to Karina’s heart. And, best of all, she’s learnt from the best.
