AU – girl Heliona starts her studies in the Academy, only to find out that her whole class is enrolled in the newly established Mentor program. Everyone, her included, gets a mentor, who is supposed to support and guide their mentee through the academic year.
The student with the best performance wins at the end of the year, and both – a student and a mentor get equal monetary prizes, so essential for everyone in the after-war years. So, the competition is going to be rough.
On her first day, Heliona gets to know that her mentor is going to be a very ambitious student – a couple of years older than her – Coriolanus Snow. She doesn’t know what’s worse – the fact that while her mentor has the best grades in the whole Academy, she is not a great learner herself; or the fact that in order to achieve the best results mentors are legally allowed to discipline their mentees, including usage of corporal punishments.
