It hasn't been more than three weeks since they started dating, but Minori has to admit that she still jumps everytime Kohane smiles at her.
It's not her fault! her girlfriend is absolutely amazing and she's just being totally right for being aware of that fact. Still...they haven't really done anything special yet apart from the shy smiles and tiny waves when they pass each other on their way to class. Or the sharing their lunch when they're eating together, if they're being brave then they'll try to spoon-feed the other, getting all giddy when doing it.
While that is honestly more than enough for her heart, when she told one of her groupmates, Airi, the girl insisted her to plan a proper date. Which...actually made sense, but managing to be brave enough to ask such thing was...a process.
Well, not really. The first moment she saw Kohane after that conversation with the pinkette, Minori immediately clasped her hands together and bowed, asking the blonde to please go on a date with her.
It was actually kind of a "please please please please please" rather than just a please...but that isn't really an important fact!
The street singer had jumped at first, surprised at the action. But quickly calmed down, after all it wasn't a weird request coming from someone she's in a relationship with. She smiled at Minori, asking her where the date would be...and that was what Minori was forgetting, of course, improvising is her thing and she managed to answer like a completely normal person.
Which is exactly why she's currently running with mild panic towards a park she tends to visit frequently. The thing is that she's ten minutes late! ten!!!
That's really not good...she knows Kohane is really sweet but that was not the impression she wanted to give for their first date!
So when she finally reaches her destination, it's no surprise that she frantically moves her head around to try and spot the blonde girl. It doesn't take her too long (bless her past self for learning how to easily spot idols in crowns!).
"Kohane-chan!"
The mentioned girl turns around, eyes widening immediately when her eyes find Minori.
The brunette doubles down to try and catch her breath, after a few seconds, she clasps her hands together in apology. "Waaaah Kohane-chan!!! I'm so so so sorryyy—" she cries out, shaking her head. "I'm sorry for being late! it's just that the lights turned red when I wanted to cross TWO times in a ROW!!! and then when I was about to cross the street I bumped into a girl and made her books fall to the ground!!!" Minori frantically explains, although it sounds more like babbling.
Kohane squeaks, hands hovering over the apologetic girl.
"Emm...—" the blonde starts, gaze moving away. "It's fine, Minori-chan. You're only two minutes late anyways..." she smiles softly, hand hesitantly being offered for her girlfriend.
Minori, without a doubt, immediately holds it. "...Only two? but my phone said that it was 2:10 pm?" she questions, tone filled with genuine confusion.
Kohane raises an eyebrow. "Erm...no? your phone must have the wrong time."
"Oh." Minori blinks, then gets a sudden realization. "W-wait!! is this why Haruka-chan and Airi-chan always chuckle when I go to practice always apologizing for being late?!" the idol jumps, wondering about how the many times she probably wasn't late and just embarrassed herself.
Kohane looks slightly surprised for her girlfriend's outburst for a second, but she ends up giggling, covering her mouth in the process. "Hehe- maybe?" she amuses, eyes softening.
That's when Minori realizes this is the first time today she thoroughly saw her girlfriend. She takes a look at the clothes she's wearing, it's a simple but beautiful dress with flowery patterns, contrasting the tiny flowers that grow on the grass of the park. The colors of her outfit are soft, but she still has her signature hot pink in the form of bracelets.
Minori's eyes move higher, Kohane has her normal hairstyle with her pigtails, but instead of her usual type of hat she's wearing a floppy hat. It covers her nicely from the sun, protecting her eyes from the brightness. As the brunette's gaze goes slightly downwards, she notices her girlfriend's brown eyes looking away.
"Minori-chan..." Kohane mumbles, hand moving to adjust her hat (Minori learned that it's Kohane's equivalent to playing with her hair!). "You're um- staring." she moves her hat to cover a part of her eyes, but failing to cover the faint blush creeping to her cheeks.
Oh right...! "Ah!- Sorry Kohane-chan!! you're just..." Minori tries to explain, tongue fumbling to choose a word to explain the bubbling warm feeling in her chest. "So beautiful...!" she blurts out, but she completely means it.
Kohane's eyes widen, the two girls stay blinking at each other for a few seconds, before Kohane giggles, prompting Minori to follow suit. As the pair erupts in giggles, they're sure they look sort of silly to the groups of people walking around the park, but that's completely fine.
Kohane is the first to calm down, she smiles one last time before her face turns serious. "Minori-chan...you also look really pretty!" her words come out shy and quiet, but her eyes hold a strong affection in them.
The sight is too much for her. "K-Kohane-chan!" the brunette feels small tears of happiness form in her eyes, so she immediately runs towards the blonde and traps her in an embrace. "You're so nice to me I love you so much!!" Minori is inclined to kiss the crown of her girlfriend's head, but the hat she's wearing makes it hard. Instead, she lightly presses her lips on her girlfriend's cheek, smiling at the way the skin there rapidly warms up.
Kohane squirms for a second but she giggles quietly, accepting her position of being in the receiving way of Kohane's affection. It used go overwhelm her at first, but now she's becoming accustomed to it. Still, she reminds herself that they're in public and softly taps Minori's shoulder.
The brunette slowly unwraps her arms from her girlfriend. Both of them smile at each other for a moment, then they look down.
Oh! Minori notices that there's a blanket already placed on the grass, but the only thing that's on top of it it's a basket. It looks like Kohane only started setting it a few moments ago.
Noticing Minori's stare, the blonde girl shrugs. "I got a bit nervous and prepared it already..." she murmurs apologetically.
Minori smiles, glad that at least she's not the only nervous one and that they're in this together. "That's fine!!" she flops down on a corner of the blanket. She grins as she remembers something. "Hehe~ guess what I brought, I'm sure you'll like it, Kohane-chan!" she affirms as she digs into her bag.
Kohane, for her part, sits on the blanket way more gently than Minori. Her eyes remain laser focused on what the brunette is doing, curiosity clear on her face.
The idol smiles as she notices her girlfriend's gaze. She opens a small package. "Ta-da!!" Minori impatiently moves forward the small tray on her hands so the blonde can properly see it.
Kohane studies the tray's content for a second, before her eyes light up almost immediately. "You got peach buns for me?!" she asks, smile unconsciously widening as she says it.
Minori smiles excitedly, "Yeah!!! Airi-chan helped me with a few but I made most of them!" she exclaims proudly, although Kohane probably already noticed by how only a few actually look like buns...Even so, Minori smiles. "Do you wanna try one? I swear they're yummy!"
It's not like Kohane needs any convincing though, she grabs one of the mildly deformed ones without any judgement and holds it close to her mouth with both hands. Before taking a bite, she looks at Minori who smiles brightly. Taking it as permission, she takes a small bite of the "bun".
Minori silently waits till her girlfriend shows any reaction. Almost holding her breath, she briefly wonders if maybe she forgot to put anything... The blonde's serious expression worries her a little.
Kohane's face breaks into a content smile. "Hehe~ it's so good Minori-chan! thank you a lot for making one of my favorite foods!" she beams.
Minori feels her cheeks warm up, but she waves it off, shaking her head. "Ah! i-it's not that much haha."
At that, Kohane perks up. "Oh! I have something to give you, too!" the girl quickly searches something in her basket, she doesn't take too long to find it. "Here...we um, got the same idea I guess?" she smiles nervously.
The same idea? oh wait...does that mean?!
She intently looks at the presented salmon sandwiches. Kohane looks away, "Since you like salmon, I thought that maybe you would like salmon sandwiches? An-chan gave me a supposedly good recipe..." the blonde rambles, a hand toying with her hat while the other offers the sandwich for her girlfriend.
Minori feels a very strong affection bubble in her chest, so she decides to express it correctly to her girlfriend.
"WAAA K-Kohane-chan!! thank you so much!!!" she gets that out of the way, then takes a deep breath. She closes her eyes to not explode at the way Kohane is looking at her with amusement. "Thank you a lot! I'm sure I'll love it if you made it!" she gushed, hand already moving to grab the sandwich.
The brunette takes a bite and chews on it with speed, before reminding herself that she probably should try to enjoy it, so she slows down.
Kohane giggles at that. "Don't worry. There's more, eat how you please." she smiles at her, taking another tiny bite of her peach bun.
Minori nods enthusiastically, taking another bite and smiling at the taste. Kohane did a really good job! "It's so good! thank you again!" she grins brightly, swaying happily in place.
Kohane shyly smiles at the praise, but she doesn't cover herself this time. "Y-you're welcome Minori-chan..."
They continue to eat in silence, but it's not uncomfortable in any way. In fact, Minori can almost compare it to the way they eat together at lunch, it's nice. She slowly feels her nervousness drift away.
Kohane apparently feels the same way, too. She hums in thought, "Minori-chan? do you often visit this park?" she tilts her head, curious.
Minori nods happily. "I do! when I go on walks with Samo-chan we sometimes enjoy going to this park, there's not a lot of dogs nor people!" she explains, gesturing as she does so.
"Yeah, I noticed." Kohane smiles, comfortable with not being around too many people. "We should come back another day." she mumbles softly as she locks eyes with Minori, awaiting for her response.
Come back?
Oh! that gives space for more dates to come!
Minori giggles as she feels a sudden giddiness attack her. "Yeah! we should!" she plays with a strand of her hair, twirling it around her finger. She stops herself from giggling like an idiot and kicking her feet to not embarrass herself, although she's sure Kohane wouldn't mind.
Kohane giggles back in turn, adjusting her hat. "Um Minori-chan?"
"Yes?"
"Thank you." Kohane says suddenly.
Minori tilts her head. "For what?" she asks, genuinely confused.
The blonde shakes her head. "For being you, I guess?" she chuckles nervously, not sure how to explain. Still, affection drips from her voice.
The warmth absolutely explodes. Minori launches herself onto her girlfriend for the second time today, while trying to be careful not to ruin their picnic. "K-Kohane-chan!! you're so sweet! thank you for being you, too! I love you!" she confesses, embracing the blonde tightly.
The idol starts to pepper thousand of kisses across her girlfriend's face. Causing Kohane to shriek and break into a laugh. "M-Mi- laugh M-Minori-chan stop!" she moves her hand to make a barrier between her face and the brunette.
Minori giggles, stopping herself from kissing Kohane's hand instead. "S-sorry! I'm just so happy right now!" it's just too much fuzzy warm feelings!
Kohane smiles, taking a few breaths so her voice doesn't sound that breathless. "Ah...I'm so happy too! I love you!" she hugs her back, making herself comfortable before lightly kissing the corner of the brunette's lips.
Now it's turn for Minori's brain to shortcircuit. If before she was burning, now she's melting. She's sure that if it wasn't for Kohane holding her, she would of had fallen backwards.
Still, if that's what it takes to hear Kohane's faint amused giggles once again, she wouldn't mind.
Minori then processes what the blonde said, she smiles, immediately flopping once again to the floor, but this time on Kohane's place. The girl raises an eyebrow at the action.
Minori grins. She pats the floor besides her, "Sit!" that's the only thing she says because Kohane tilts her head but shrugs, sitting down besides her.
The brunette grabs one of the buns and turns around to face her girlfriend. "Kohane-chan! say 'aah'~" she giggles at the way the blonde girl blushes.
Even so, Kohane smiles nervously and opens her mouth. Minori grins and cuts a small piece of it, feeding it to her girlfriend.
"Is it yummy?" Minori asks excitedly.
Kohane tilts her head, almost incredulously. "It's...the same taste as the one I have eaten before?" she mumbles dumbly.
Minori giggles. "Yeah! but I fed it to you!" she exclaims, dumber.
"Oh." The blonde says, with a face that says 'yeah, makes sense'.
Kohane turns her gaze to her basket for the salmon sandwiches, but finds none. "Ah...you ate them all already?" she questions.
"Eek-" Minori squeaks. "I'm sorry Kohane-chan! I should of had left you one!" she apologizes frantically.
Kohane smiles but shakes her head. "It's okay! I didn't want one anyways." she answers honestly. "But um- I wanted to feed them to you..." she admits almost pouting, she toys with her hat again.
Oh! "That's fine then! you can just give me one of the buns. If you like them, I trust you have a good taste!" Minori smiles brightly, quickly making her girlfriend relax.
Kohane nods. "Yeah! they're good." she grabs the bun Minori cut a piece of, and holds it close to Minori's face. "Open your mouth, love." she mumbles, trying to act confident and only succeeding by almost nothing.
Minori's eyes widen and she feels her face burn, but she decides to keep that thought for later, now she does as told, welcoming the taste. It's okay, although she tasted a few of them when making them to be sure they were fine. Even so, she grins. "Ahh it's so good! no wonder you like them!!"
Kohane smiles back, but her face suddenly gets blank.
Minori tilts her head. "What's the matter?"
The blonde girl shakes her head, now embarrassed. "Sorry, I just...I just wanted to take a picture of you just now, you looked pretty. I mean...you always look pretty-" she quickly adds, worried about it being taken it the wrong way.
Minori hums in thought. A photo? well, it's their first date...they should probably take a picture.
She smiles, turning on her phone and going to the camera app. Minori turns to her girlfriend and locks eyes with her. "Um- we could take a selfie! I know it's not as...perfect as it would be with one of your cameras, but it will capture the moment anyways!" she explains her reasoning, knowing that Kohane probably meant to take a picture with her camera.
Kohane tilts her head. "A selfie?" she asks, mostly to herself. She seems to be considering it, she ends up shrugging. "Yeah! sure. Um...I want you to take it though." she states, getting closer so posing would be easier.
Minori gasps. "What?! I don't know anything about photography!" she complained halfheartedly.
Kohane smiles. "I don't mind."
Oh man! this is too much responsibility...she shakily holds the phone up, then the shaking turns even more strong when Kohane rests her head on her shoulder, probably so they both fit in the selfie. She smiles at the camera and clicks the button.
Flash!
She internally winces at the flashing light, hand moving to rub her eyes after the photo gets taken.
Kohane looks almost horrified. "...Why do you have the flash activated for selfies?"
Minori shakes her head with confusion. "I don't remember! I don't take a lot of selfies..." she giggles at the awkwardness.
The blonde smiles with amusement, but leans over to see the selfie.
For all it's worth, the selfie actually looks fine!! a bit too bright and a bit blurry but it's okay!
Kohane hums, satisfied. "Yay! you did it!" she smiles at Minori, leaning over to rest her head on her shoulder once again.
This time, Minori doesn't blush uncontrollably. Instead, she rests her head on top of Kohane's. It's nice, she's really glad she listened to Airi and asked her girlfriend on a date.
They stay in silence for a while, looking at the few people that walk through the park, some with their pets and some with their friends or family.
Kohane hums. "Minori-chan?"
Minori immediately pays attention. "Yeah?"
"Can you accompany me later? I need to buy food for Count Pearl." she asks softly.
Minori nods, before remembering that she's laying her head on Kohane's. So she just hums in affirmation. "Mhm! I will! I'll get Samo-chan food too then!"
"Okay! I love you."
"I love you too!"
