Chapter Text
Back in the day, before our modern world, there were 2 major kingdoms in Shibuya, Tokyo: the Light Kingdom and the Dark kingdom. They were owned by two noble families: the Tenmas and the Asahinas. Can you guess who’s in charge of which kingdom? I think it’s pretty obvious. They were mostly at peace, maybe a few political arguments here and there but it was mostly peaceful… Until their peace contract suddenly ended. A lot of rumors spread around that the Light kingdom decided to break it off, but they reassured everyone it’s been broken by the Dark kingdom. Now, there’s been threats against both kingdoms from each other. But for now, let’s focus on a particular someone…
A paintbrush swiftly flew across a canvas two times in opposite directions, red paint dripping from the tip of the brush. “ This is going to be such a pain…” Ena sighed as her tired eyes blinked slowly.
CRASH!
A ball of cloth crashed through the window. She frantically turned around, staring at the cloth ball.
- What… The fuck?! - Ena looked at the ball and back at the broken window.
- Are they gone? - A voice spoke from within the ball. Her eyes widened as it spoke.
- What… Are you..? - Ena grabbed a brush, hoping it was at least sharp enough for her to defend herself. The ball slowly unraveled, revealing a pink-haired girl with a cloak around their neck. That must’ve been the reason they looked like a ball. One of their eyes was covered by a jewel that looked like a monocle, a sideways ponytail was tied with a ribbon while two parts of their front hair hung, white gloves covered their hands and big boots went up to their thighs. They held something in their hand.
- “What are you?” You’re saying it like I’m an inanimate object. - They pouted.
- Well, you were just a ball a second ago! How was I supposed to know you were a human?! - Ena scuffed.
- Oh, you couldn’t tell? - Their eye lit up.
- Y-yeah?
- I’ve gotten better at controlling my breathing then! - They smiled widely as they stood back up on their feet. - You can put that brush down, I'm not going to hurt you. Plus, what can you do with a dull brush like that? - They chuckled.
- Well, I can stab your eyes out. - Ena raised it higher. The girl got closer to her and moved the brush aside with their pointer finger.
- I can sense that you don’t have the guts to stab anyone. - Their voice changed into a cold one. They looked dead into Enas eyes. Her heart raced in fear, but also in adrenalin. She swiftly raised the brush up in the air and tried to stab the pink haired girl. They quickly dodged, going back to where they were standing beforehand.
- Hm, maybe I underestimated you. You have guts alright. - They smiled and tilted their head, their voice going back to normal. - But your heart's beating like crazy.
- And you’ve got skilled reflexes. Impressive. - Ena stood back up.
- I think we started at a rough start so let’s do that again. I’m A… - They started stuttering. Ena looked at them confused. - A…mia. Yes, I’m Amia. - Cold sweat was running down their forehead as they regained their composure.
- I’m Enanan, then. - Ena replied.
- Enanan? Who the hell names their kid like that? - They chuckled.
- And who names their kid Amia? - Ena tilted her head with an annoyed look.
- Touché. Well, I can’t tell you my real name, after all, I am a “criminal”. - Amia showed what they were holding in their hand. It was a jewel of some sort. - I prefer getting called a thief more than a criminal, since I haven’t and will not commit any other acts except stealing. It’s probably not a good idea to tell you that… - They contemplated what they just said.
- Why not? Don’t the guards know that information already?
- Well, no. They only know what I look like. I haven’t really interacted with civilians until now. You should feel special because of that, y’know? - Amia chuckled. Enas never felt this eerie of someone, yet so safe. As they said, they won’t do anything else but steal and there wasn’t anything worth stealing here. Heck, Ena can barely make a living yet have anything valuable.
- Why are you here? Did you steal that jewel?
- What do you think? - Amia raised their eyebrow.
- Don’t give me sass and just answer! - Ena said annoyed.
- Chill girlie. - They laughed. - But yeah, I did steal it. What’cha gonna do about it, huh? Report me to the guards? I’ll be gone by the time they arrive. Even before you can call them.
- I won’t do shit. - Enas' words escaped her mouth without her thinking. Amia gave a shocked look. - I won’t call the guards or anything. - Ena throws her brush aside. - I don’t think you’re who you’re presenting to be right now. My gut tells me that. - Amia’s shocked look faded into a relaxed one.
- It’s shocking to hear a civilian, whom I just broke into their home, decides to not call the guards… Is there a catch to this? - They put their hand on their hips.
- … Maybe there is. - Ena said nervously. Amia started pacing around.
- What is it then? You probably want the jewel, don’t you. I don’t advise you, but It’ll get the guards of my-
- I want you to pose for me. - Ena said seriously. Amia stopped dead in their tracks.
- Pose… For you? - They said surprised.
- Yes. It’s been hard to find a muse recently. I’ve been trying to… - Amia zoned to the canvas behind Ena, staring at the red cross over a drawing of a girl. They then looked around the rest of the studio, the drawing closest to them being torn apart. There were a few more drawings with either crosses or have been torn. - Are you listening to me?! - Ena said annoyed.
- I… Sorry. But sure yeah whatever as long as I can keep my disguise on.
- Wow… I really thought you would disagree. - Ena chuckled. - I thought you would risk getting the guards on your tail again.
- Well that would be severely worse than posing once for a few hours.
- Once? - Ena chuckled. - Oh you’re gonna be posing daily. - Ena turned around and switched her ruined canvas for a brand new one. - Until I can finish a work I’m actually happy with, you’re stuck with me and I’m stuck with you. - Ena turned her head around as Amia got closer.
- Fine. But I have stuff to do in the morning. - Ena smiled while Amia sighed.
- Don’t worry. I work best at night. - She winked.
