Work Text:
Flip phones, CDs, kissing booths, popularity, sports and majorettes, coffee shops, low rise jeans and high crop tops, music bands and the usual juicy drama. A girl's biggest dream.
Gojo Satoru was one of the most popular girls all around the highschool and campus, light blue low rise jeans and a vibrant bright pink crop top showing a lot of skin (which, could get her suspended for a day or dress-coded, but no one actually cared), heart-shaped pink sunglasses resting on top of her glamorous wavy white hair (she had a few pink strands) which was a bit over her shoulders in length. Something we can not forget is the sparkly things she wore. Crop top? Had little (cheap) pearls. Jeans? Had little shiny-diamonds-like decor around the pockets. Belts? Big, pink and shiny with, once again, pearls! She also could not miss wearing bright and shiny red or pink lipstick on her lips. Another thing she loved were earrings, big earrings, let it be heart-shaped with a leopard pattern, or star-shaped with shiny diamonds on them, she always wore a pair, not a single day existing when she didn't.
Geto Suguru, a popular girl but mainly due to being Satoru's ‘best friend’ had a similar fashion style except for some concepts. Low rise jeans but ones that were somewhat baggier, a crop top, all in neutral colors, and a leather jacket atop her shoulders. Her hair was black and wavy, almost reaching her waist. While Satoru wore a load of accessories and shiny pearls, Suguru was more on the simple side, mainly a big belt with shiny stuff and a silver chain around her neck. Though, they had matching keys with keychains (they shared a room (dorm), so each had a pair of keys), with stars, hello kitty and a keyring with a black and white picture of them that they took at the beginning of the year. Suguru also wore a smokey eye and cat eyeliner makeup, while using one of Satoru's lipsticks.
People say they never saw Geto without Gojo, or Gojo without Geto. Some people thought what a good - besties - friendship they have, while some others thought that there is something more, something romantic. Both options worked! And both options were true.
Everyday was a day full of wonders and new things, you never knew who'd come on campus the next day with an outrageous fit that could, and probably would get the person suspended (they started to normalize crop tops and low rise jeans with lot of skin showing since everyone wore those), who and why they broke up with their lover (and the drama and tea that was to come), who went to whose concert, and meet which celebrity, or who had the newest flip phone. Or who got kicked out of class for chewing gum obnoxiously loud.
***
It was just another Monday morning, when the alarm clock started to violently ring and shake making a sound that made you want to cut your ears off, when both of them wake up and Suguru's dumbfounded, as to why she’s sleeping in the same bed as Satoru. She has no time for questions as they both have to hurry and get ready for a new day of highschool.
They both sit up and greet one another, each of them going to their closet to look for a fit to wear today.
“Urgh, there's nothing that I can wear!” Who else could complain about having nothing to wear while clearly having so many clothes that it's a wonder the closet didn't burst yet? Satoru.
“You always say this and have clothes you haven't worn since our first year. And they still fit you.” said Suguru, unimpressed. “Hurry up or we'll be late again.”
“Fine, fineee..” Satoru picks a white tank top and a pair of dark blue flared jeans, takes her Juicy Couture pink bag and shoves in anything but school related. Perfume, mascara, lip gloss, lipstick, hair pins, her keys and a water bottle.
Suguru, on the other hand, throws two notebooks and three pens in that bag (since Satoru owns such big bags, there's no reason for Suguru to carry one as well) and their keys, as they get out of the dorm room and lock the door and start heading for the main building.
As the two of them enter the busy halls of their highschool, people already start greeting Satoru (and Suguru, but probably so that she doesn't feel left out), or start throwing sharp looks, mainly from the mean girls, and can't forget all the boys trying to hit on Gojo. Disgusting, boring and repetitive. Same thing everyday.
“How many classes do we have today?” asked Satoru while making her way through the full halls.
“I think three, then big break.” said Suguru as she quickly followed her friend.
“Great, let's go. I don't want detention, not again.”
Just another usual lunch break, Suguru and Satoru picked the cheap menu that was for today and looked for a table where they could find at least two free spots.
The two of them notice Shoko and some people - probably friends - sitting with her at a table, as the brown haired girl gestures at them to come over.
“Sup Shoko?” said Satoru quite loudly so she could be heard since the space was so crowded and loud.
“Nothing much. Almost got caught smoking at the back of the building. You?”
“Happy to finally have breaktime.”
“Your favorite thing, huh?” said Suguru as she lightly smiled at Satoru, who nodded.
As they sat and ate their food they couldn't help but make faces or subtly giggle when they heard gossip from other tables, such as
“Did you hear about that girl from class C? Everyone hates her and says she's such a bitch.” - “Could never stand her anyway.”
“I heard some people brought alcohol into the dorms and got SO drunk, they were SO loud. Surprised no one called them out” oh that was definitely Satoru&Suguru they were talking about.
“I saw one of the new girls start hitting on all guys that are way and much older than her. Another useless shit.”
With all the talks, gossip and dramas you didn't need TV for entertainment, no matter what time it was there always was something new to talk about.
When Satoru almost finished eating she looked over at Suguru then at Shoko,
“My dorm, 7:30pm and we watch a movie? Perhaps ‘Mean Girls’?”
“..we already watched that..thrice.”said Suguru while sharply looking at her.
“Oh come ooooooon Suguruuu!!!” all Satoru ever did was probably whine.
Suguru looks over at Shoko who giggles lightly, “Okay I'll try and come.”
“No way, can't wait.” Satoru gasped.
***
“Are you serious? Are you really going to go on that date with that guy? He looks like he didn't shower nor change his clothes in a week girl.” Said Suguru kind of visibly annoyed, or perhaps, a little jealous?
“Pfft you never really cared who i'd see so why's that now? Anyway, free food. I gotta go, see you!!”
“Mhm. Bye.”
Satoru wondered what happened with Suguru but brushed it off since she probably was just a little worried.
***
Suguru sat alone in their shared dorm trying to study a little bit since she had some free time until Shoko came over to watch movies and Satoru finished her date. God forbid.
Suguru was actually kind of jealous. She did wish she would try and date Satoru since she held feelings for the other woman, but she didn't know if she should go straight to the point and just do it. If Satoru rejected Suguru, she'd be embarrassed for a very long time - if not forever, everytime Suguru would meet Satoru's blue eyes - and she wouldn't like to-
The door harshly opened and footsteps were heard. Suguru snapped out of her thoughts and the ‘studying’ session she tried to have.
“Huh?” Said Suguru, confused as she observed Satoru come in.
“I’m baaaack!”
“So quick? Did you turn him down?”
“No.”
“Did you turn him down?”
“No. It's been like half an hour - an hour. What are ya on?”
“Ohhh. Didn't notice how fast time moved.” Suguru was still in her uncomfortable chair with a notebook open on a lesson, clearly frustrated but not because of the subject but because of Satoru's date.
“So? How was it? Surprised you didn't tell me every single thing that has happened.”
“Hm?” Satoru smirked at Suguru, “it was good, nothing much but i enjoyed it.” Okay. That was fine. Satoru said that a few times before when she dated other random people. “Might want to go again.”
“Huh?!” Suguru didn't realize she actually gasped out loud while turning her head quickly to shoot Satoru a glance but immediately looked down on her notebook again as if to hide herself.
“Hm? What was that? Suguruuuu..” Suguru could hear the shit-eating grin Satoru was wearing just by the way she talked. She would resist and not turn around to look at the other female.
“C'mon say something.” Satoru took a few steps forward, placed both her hands on Suguru's shoulders and squeezed them lightly as she leant her face down to look at Suguru. Of course Suguru turned her head away.
“Okay let me guess. Jealous? Did I get that right?” Shit. How did she get it? Was it so obvious? Well enough of that, Suguru had to somehow deny that and get herself out of this situation. If only Shoko could come right now.
Suguru turned her head to face Satoru who was smiling and her face slightly red. Suguru only raised an eyebrow and leant back in the chair. Trying not to break her back while doing that.
Satoru let go of the other one's shoulders, twirled around and sat on the desk next to Suguru's notebook.
Damn.
Suguru looks up and sees Satoru is already looking down to her.
They look at each other for what feels like an eternity even though it was probably no more than 3 seconds. It's nice seeing Suguru's face soften. - thought Satoru to herself as they both quickly snapped out of whatever was happening as the door opened.
Shoko.
“Am I interrupting something? I can come a little later if you wish.” Said Shoko while smirking and Satoru jumped off of the desk in a second.
“No,” they both say at the same time.
“Suguru, get the snacks while i set the movie.”
And Suguru did what Satoru told her, as Shoko made herself comfy and, laughing slightly.
The three of them started watching the movie, and eating whatever cheap food they had, while commenting on what'd happen in the film.
The movie finally ended. Shoko was somewhat happy she got time to spend with the two other girls, Satoru was still the one full of life, and Suguru seemed pretty bored.
“Can't wait for next time!!” announced Satoru as Shoko slowly walked out of the dorm and closed the door.
The room pretty much fell silent as both of the girls got the bowls to the small kitchen they had and threw them on top of the full sink.
“Any plans tomorrow?”
“No.”
“Wanna go somewhere?”
“Such as?”
“I don't knooowwww.” said Satoru as she tapped her chin and looked up while thinking.
“Skateboarding?” Said Suguru as she looked at Satoru to see her expression.
“Sure!” Satoru didn't actually know how to skate but Suguru would teach her.
***
“How much there left to walk Suguruuuu im tired” whines Satoru as she fake pouts.
“We're almost there, and how will you skate if you're so tired already?”
“I don't even know how to skate dummy. You'll have to show me.”
“Of course I'll teach you.”
Both of them carried one skating board, Satoru's was white with some colorful lines and Suguru's was a dark green with some small flowers on it.
As they got there, they went to a small ramp and Suguru placed down her skateboard and explained how to do things right.
“Put your dominant foot on it, in the front,” and Satoru does as told.
“Now with the other foot you'll push yourself but be careful.”
Satoru thinks it's pretty easy so she just goes for it. She pushes and pushes and catches a little speed, another (thankfully, small) ramp in front of her and she does not know how to turn.
“Jump off or you'll crash!” Suguru tries to catch up to Satoru before she crashes, and falls off.
“Ouchhh, that hurt. You did not teach me how to turn!!! It's your fault I fell.” Complains Satoru as she crosses her arms but the other girl extends a hand to help her sit up while they both giggle.
“Yoo Satoru!” another gross boy from the campus. “Skating? Want me to teach you?”
Suguru pops from her back next to Satoru as she places her hands on her hips and says “I'm already teaching her so you're no need, useless shit.” She says as she turns and the last part was more of a mutter, so only her and Satoru could hear. Both girls turn around and go back to the initial spot they were in.
“Can I see you skate?”
“You want to see me skate?”
“Yeah. I rather do that” says Satoru as she smiles.
“Okay then, sure. Let's go to that ramp over there.” Suguru points to one that is a little more crowded but thankfully everyone takes turns so they don't have to fight on whoever goes next.
Satoru takes her skateboard and places it firmly on the ground, then sits on it as her eyes are glued to Suguru's back (waiting to be the next one to show her skills). What beautiful hair she has. And smile.
It's Suguru's time, and she goes for it with no hesitation.
She's awesome at it. Satoru doesn't know what her friend is doing, cause if she was to describe it she would say something like “go down that ramp jump twirl jump again turn around- OH MY DID SHE FLIP HER SKATE WHILE JUMPING??- oop there she goes again up on the ramp.”
“Damn girl you were insane! You're so good.” Satoru walks to Suguru as she raises her hand so they high-five.
“Thanks.” She starts giggling and smiling. So pretty. “Should we do anything else or go back?”
“Icecream?”
“Icecream.”
They walk over to a stand and they stand in line to order. When they get there, Satoru orders bubblegum flavored ice cream while Suguru orders mint and dark chocolate.
“Can I taste yours?” Satoru asks even if she isn't a big fan of mint.
“Yeah go ahead.”
“Mmm… kind of ew but it's good.”
“Better reaction than what I would've imagined.” Suguru starts walking to a bench by the small lake that was in that park, leaving Satoru behind.
“Heeey!!! Wait for me.” Satoru runs and sits down next to Suguru, placing her skateboard down, her feet on it.
“How pretty it looks when the sun goes down. Don't you think so?”
“Mhm. It is pretty.” As she says that, Satoru turns her head and looks at Suguru, who is absorbed by the sky and how the sun's color was bleeding into the orangish-yellow sky and watching its reaction in the water.
Suguru smiles, and so does Satoru. She can't remember the amazing moves her friend did earlier, nor her pretty smiles and giggles. Oh no. Is Satoru falling for her best friend?
***
“So, you fell in love with your best friend, Geto?” Asks Shoko as she raises her hand to her mouth with a lit cigarette.
Shoko and Gojo sit on the windowsill (from Shoko's room) and they both look out the window and look at the few teens that are still hanging out on the campus.
“Well I don't..really know?” Gojo looks at her friend.
“I mean, from everything you said and the way you described you saw Geto smile and giggle and how you seemed to admire her is enough to say you do have a crush on her.” Shoko turns her head and smirks at Gojo then turns her head to look out the window again.
Silence falls upon them.
“Tell her.” Shoko says.
“Tell her what?” Gojo looks confused as hell.
“Tell her that you like her, duh.” She looks uninterested,.. or bored.
“Noo.. what if she rejects me or something, I don't know." She hugs her knees.
“You can't say that.” Shoko strikes a serious and rather mad look, “Some people thought you two are dating, and if that isn't enough, you can tell from Geto's gaze that she likes you. The way she looks up at you, checks you out sometimes,” she giggles at that part, “and she is surely mostly comfortable around you. I almost forgot! The dirty glances she throws at guys that hit on you?! That's crazy. Never seen anyone that pissed or deranged by giving looks.”
“She just doesn't want me to get with a stupid hoe. She said it herself.”
“Cause she'd want to get with you?” Shoko giggles and takes another puff out of her cigarette and says “Even then, she looks so jealous when she hears you talk about going on dates with people from the campus.”
Satoru falls silent, it looks like she's in deep thought. That doesn't happen often.
With another cigarette puff, “Even I myself thought yall dated at one point.”
Gojo quickly looks at her and she sees Shoko wear a monotone facial expression but then she smiles lightly.
“And how would I tell her that I like her?”
“Pfft. You came to me to talk about your feelings, now you want dating tips?” Shoko jokes. “I don't know man, I think Suguru is more reserved so maybe do it somewhere private-ish.”
“True true.”
Shoko quickly says, almost talking over Gojo-
“Not in the dorm. Don't be stupid. Take her out to a park or something. Icecream, do i know. Cinema, a movie..”
“Thank you Shoko. You helped me.”
“Yeah, now go. Let me know how it goes dummy.”
“Yup.” Gojo goes out of Shoko's dorm, a little confused about her feelings but much better than before.
***
“You look a little sad? Did anything happen?” It looks like Suguru was lost in thoughts.
“No, it's fine.” She moved closer to the window and slightly opened it as she lit a cigarette and inhaled from it. “Are you cold? I won't keep it open for long.” Geto looked at Gojo as she asked and then averted her gaze.
“No, I'm fine. But I wouldn't say the same about you.” Gojo's tone seemed a little concerned, and got a little closer to Geto
Geto turned her face again and raised an eyebrow, then her face fell to the ground. Satoru couldn't figure out what was on her friend's, crush, mind.
“Remember that band which I joined for a little time?” Suguru started.
“Yes I do. You were excited.”
“It disbanded long ago. They were kind of shit people.”
“I remember they wouldn't treat you well.”
“Yeah and all the drama, it didn't do well for me. Such dark times I was in, back then.”
Satoru doesn't know what to do nor say. She feels bad but she is proud that Suguru went over everything bad and now is living somewhat fine. Satoru takes a blanket and draps it over both their shoulders as she leans on the windowsill next to Suguru.
She lightly smiles and takes another puff, “They're spreading rumors about me now. They're quite late to the party.”
“Rumors!? What rumors? Since when?” Satoru almost snapped. She was surprised.
“Guitarist's girlfriend but don't worry too much ‘bout it. I'm over it, they aren't.”
“Nah, they better watch out before I catch a glimpse of them.”
“Don't do anything stupid.” Suguru puts down her cigarette and closes the window.
“Why would they spread rumors about you? That's crazy.”
“Cause they got nothing better to do. Don't ask me, I don't know.”
They both go near their beds and prepare to do their little skin care routine.
“Sleep time? Alreaaady..” Satoru whines but she can't stop the yawn that's coming.
Suguru giggles “Yes. Goodnight.”
That giggle that always came with a smile. Making Satoru's heart flutter.
“Goodnight.”
***
Satoru woke up a little earlier than before, and left before Suguru as well. Suguru knew she'd eventually find her in the classroom or around the campus anyway.
“So you've been spreading fake things about Geto?” Satoru deadpans and she throws her arm around the guitarist's girlfriend, hitting the cabinet with a loud thud.
“Huh? ..what?” The girl almost stutters as she talks quietly and looks scared.
“What? Did you say anything? Didn't hear you.” Satoru takes her hand back together with one step behind.
The girl looks at her and she looks like she is on the verge of tears. Satoru Gojo, one, if not the most popular students in highschool.
“Listen, if you say one more word about my friend, you're in danger.” Satoru reaches for her back pocket and gets her flip phone out of it as she kept eye contact with the girl, “I don't have any more time for fucks like you. Bye byeee!” And she leaves to go to her classroom.
***
“Hii !!” Satoru says to Suguru as she sits down next to her and hands her a bagel.
“Thanks. Sweet of you.”
“Of course! Say, movie tonight, but at the cinema?”
“Really? I'd like that.” Suguru smiles.
Satoru smiles back and fights the redness that wants to cover her face.
Shoko notices. Cute, she asked Geto out.
After they finished classes, they went to the cafeteria this time, skipping the canteen. This place was more reserved, quiet, and cleaner than that big crowded room.
“How are my favorite girlies doing?” Satoru asks as she sits down, looking at Suguru and Shoko.
“Bored. You?” Said Shoko as she looks around to see if she could smoke inside.
“Fine. Slept well last night.”
“Nice!!” Satoru smiled and noticed the guitarist's girlfriend enter the cafeteria.
She watched her walk to a table, one that was distant from theirs. Perfect.
“I heard one of the new girls, from class C if i recall correctly, she slept with the boyfriend of the lead majorette.” Says Shoko as she pours some sugar in her tea and mixes it.
“No way!” Suguru and Satoru say at the same time and Suguru continues,
“Did the girlfriend find out? You got me quite interested.”
Shoko giggles, “I don't think so. She'll go nuts if she finds out.”
“Surely!” Satoru exclaims.
Another lunch break with news - gossip - it became a tradition. Doesn't matter if you were on the campus, in the canteen, cafeteria or dorms - something always was new and you'd find out.

Gojo is popular because of multiple reasons - gorgeous, appealing, funny, sarcastic, list could go on - but she is the leader of the volleyball team. School's team. That makes her even more attractive, some people say.
Not only does she lead, she is of course, the best. Gets the most points from the team, wins most of the matches and so on.
This reminds Suguru. The first time she tried to subtly shoot her shot for Satoru. Yet she didn't catch it.
“Gojo Satoru has once again scored the most points, leading her team to win. Another beautiful victory. Great job!” Was heard in the arena in which they played.
Suguru was there with Shoko and other people, holding a big placard on which wrote “I ❤️ Gojo Satoru! especially me” atop their heads (“especially me” written smaller under the big text, and Suguru right under the small text). Nobody remembers whose idea it was - but it was for Suguru to ‘make a move’ (Gojo would not have picked up on that - and she didn't).
“Awwww!! My beloved best friend! Suguru! That's so nice I love the sign!” Satoru was very happy her friends were supporting her.
Everyone was laughing. “Always, good job.” Suguru hugged her back.
1 failed attempt (Suguru was kind of scared to just confess directly.)
***
“Hey Satoru! I made a mix of some songs that you could listen to!” Suguru hands Satoru a CD. It had mostly love songs - some kind of - not sending the message directly, but not so vague you couldn't tell.
“Oooh! I'll make sure to check it out!” Satoru happily accepts the CD.
“Let me know what you think.”
“Cute but not really my type, heheh, lovely.” Gojo tells her friend.
Another failed attempt at Suguru subtly showing her feelings to her friend (2).
***
“What plans do you have for this weekend ‘Toru?” asked Suguru on a Monday.
“I'll hang out with some girls from my volleyball team at the cafeteria!”
(Suguru goes to the cafeteria)
“Ohohohh, didn't know I'd bump into ya, Suguru! How are you!” Suguru definitely forgot that Satoru'd be here, but Satoru actually forgot she told Suguru where she'll be. What a coincidence!
“Just grabbing a coffee and a snack. And you?”
“What a coincidence! With my girlies from volley!” Oh to be called “my girly” by Satoru.
Another failed attempt at Suguru trying to subtly make chit-chat and bump into Satoru randomly (like always) (3).
***
“Suguruuu!! Whatcha thinking about? Remember we are going to the cinema in 2 hours!” Satoru was excited.
Suguru got snapped out of her train of thoughts (how she had so many attempts to do so much - yet so little - for Satoru, pretty much thinking how stupid that was).
“Yes!”
“Don't tell me you forgot!” Satoru fake pouts and crosses her arms over her chest.
“How could I?!”
“Dress nice.” she lightly laughed.
“Of course.”
Satoru exited the room, Suguru didn't have a single thought as to where Satoru ran.
***
Satoru wore a pair of light blue - washed (color) - jeans, a white crop top and a light pink tote bag with a floral design - fitting for what's to come.
“Hiii !! How much does the red roses bouquet cost?”
“Hello beautiful lady. 7€. Would you like it?” said the old woman who ran the flower shop.
“Yes! Could you also add a small bow or maybe.. a heart?! Out of string? I'll pay extra!!” Satoru was excited.
“Oh yes, of course. No extra money needed, dear.” The woman wrapped some extra string around the roots of the flowers and made a bow and added a pink heart-shaped clip. “There you go!”
“Thank you so much!” Satoru gave the old lady 8€. “Have a nice day!”
The old lady definitely was going to have a lovely day. It's not everyday you see a teenager so bubbly and overjoyed.
***
Suguru was getting ready. Since the movie was during the evening, meaning they might get out of the cinema. She decided to still wear a black knee-length skirt and a light pink t-shirt, hoping her grey jacket (which wasn't that warm) would keep her safe from freezing.
Dark red lipstick, mascara on her lashes, a black purse with some random stuff in it, her jacket on - she was done.
She gets out of the dorm, locks the door and heads to the front of the building. She was sitting on the edge of the well, cold stone underneath her and hoping the water wouldn't touch her that much. Waiting for Satoru.
Not even 5 minutes later (thankfully) Satoru could be seen approaching Suguru, yet her bouquet was nowhere to be seen.
“Hiiii Suguruu!” Satoru waved as she got closer to her best friend.
“Hello Satoru.” A faint smile on her face.
“C'mon let's go!!” Satoru wrapped her hand around Suguru's and started walking happily outside the campus, heading to the cinema.
“What kind of movie are we seeing ‘Toru?”
“Pretty sure it's a scary movie but don't be scared!” She laughed. “You can hold my hand.” She smirked while looking at Suguru, almost challenging.
“Oh but you make sure you don’t scream or cry.”
“I wouldn't! And I won't!”
They laugh and chat on their way there, about multiple topics such as music, bands, sports, style and so on.
“May I see your tickets?” The woman at the cinema asks.
“Here.” Satoru slips two pieces of paper, “SCARY MOVIE NIGHT!” written on them, wearing a gold frame and some painted dripping blood. The ticket was black and white, the gold was making the tickets glow softly. Tho, Suguru noticed something red in Satoru's tote bag. It was dark red but it stood out easily due to the bag being a light color.
“Great. The movie will be played in the first room of that corridor,’’ the employee says as she points to her right, “it starts in about 10 minutes. Enjoy!”
“Thank you.” Suguru says, and just as she is about to walk towards that room Satoru pulls on her arm.
“Wait, I needa show you something, let's go outside for 5 mins.”
“Oh okayy.”
Satoru sits on the bench right outside the building, looking through her tote bag.
“Here, I have something for you.”
Satoru gets out the bouquet of roses - thank the Lord it's still alive and well after it has been pushed around and hidden for the time - and a box with chocolate. Suguru's favourite chocolate.
Suguru was amazed, awe-struck. Beautiful burning red roses tied with pink string, forming a bow, and another pink element - a heart shaped clip.
She gasped. “It's so pretty!! Almost can't believe my eyes.” Satoru observed how Suguru's fingers were carefully touching the petals of the flowers, watching her turn the bouquet around. She never looked so beautiful before. As beautiful as the day you showed me how to skate
“Aaand my favourite chocolate!? Wow, Satoru, thank you!” Satoru got pulled out of her thoughts as Suguru pulled her into a hug.
“ATTENTION. SCARY MOVIE STARTS IN 5 MINUTES. PLEASE, GO INSIDE THE ROOM AND FIND SOME SEATS. GRAB POPCORN ON THE WAY!” The announcement was heard throughout the building but outside as well.
“Okay, we should get inside.” Suguru sat up and offered Satoru a hand, which she happily accepted.
Satoru somehow manages to get ahead of Suguru, and drags her by her hand to some empty seats, somewhere in the middle rows.
“I brought some popcorn.” Satoru whispers.
“Really? That's awesome! After we eat it we can eat the chocolate you gave me.” She whispered back as she lightly laughed, and Satoru nodded happily.
The movie started.
“THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT”
Three students trying to make out the mystery and a documentary on the legendary “Blair Witch.” The three teenagers go into the woods, hoping to find clues, when they realise they are in fact, not alone. They can't exactly tell who or what is after them - they can't even make out the real things or the paranoia that's taking over them.
The film was pretty quiet, the three teenagers try to keep themselves together. The theater is quiet as well, chewing noises every now and then. The air was thick with the smell of popcorn and soda.
The quiet atmosphere was suddenly shut - loud, banging and rapid noises were played, thrilling music in the background, the shown teenagers’ paranoia increasing as they started screaming and panicking even more.
Satoru jumped when she first heard the loud noises.
“Eh? Got scared? Haha don't worry, I got you.” Suguru whispered, her smile could be heard even then. She wrapped an arm around Satoru, pulling her closer.
Satoru decided to remain quiet.
The three young kids want to abandon everything and just run away, hopefully back home - only to find out they are trapped in that cursed forest. They start hearing hypnotizing voices and start seeing weird signs on the trees as well. They can't escape. They were running, screaming, crying. They couldn't get out. What was their fate?
“THE END. THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT.” rolled on the screen, the lights in the room opened. Satoru and Suguru didn't get up too quickly, they stretched and carefully got their bags. As they turned to look at the screen for the last time, they noticed how suddenly a knife appeared, cutting the text in half and blood dripping down. It was a little hard to tell from the first moment, as everything was black and white.
As they walked out, they heard people talk about the possible fate the three curious students had.
“So, what do you think happened?” Suguru asked as she opened the chocolate box and walked out. (they were too focused on the film to eat the chocolate).
“Hmmmm.. I think the witch either got them - or they all had panic attacks and died. You?”
“Pfft, hahahahah. I'm not that creative but knowing how strong their paranoia must've grown - they probably started to imagine or even see the witch and that could cause them all to have a panic attack and eventually die. Crazy how the human mind works. Imagining things to the point you hallucinate, or the way the brain sends feelings like, love, to the heart.”
Satoru had to wait a little so that it settled in her mind. “That's crazyyyy…” why did Suguru mention love? The experience of love is processed both in the brain and the heart - that's true. Sometimes it's crazy how Suguru can provide information and answers that are scientific.
“Here.” Suguru laughed and offered Satoru some chocolate. Perfect for her sweet tooth!
“Think we should head back to the dorms.” Suguru arched an eyebrow and looked over at Satoru.
“Yup.”
The wind was lightly blowing yet it was enough to make Suguru somewhat cold.
“Hey, you wore such a cute outfit today!” Satoru playfully jabbed Suguru with her elbow as she looked her up and down.
“Thank you.” she smiled.

11:30pm
Friday night. No school tomorrow, no activities, no nothing. Relax and enjoy.
“We should do face masks!!!! Oh my god Suguruuu….” Satoru said as she flipped some face mask packs in her hand. “What flavor?” she looked over at Suguru which had kind of a neutral expression. “We have lemon, it says it works for.. hydrating your skin, or seaweed.. it moisturizes your skin, OR,” she turned her head to her friend and raised an eyebrow to make sure she is listening, (Suguru would always listen to Satoru), “or, aloe vera for, ummm, soothing your skin, i guess.”
“I gotta pick one?”
Satoru nodded as she raised all three packs in front of her.
“Then I pick lemon.” she smiled.
“Okay! I'll take… ummm… ehh, I'll do seaweed, it sounds funny.”
Suguru was laying on her bed, her face slightly looking up, relaxing after the long day, and, of course, waiting for Satoru to put the lemon mask on her face.
Said and done, Satoru was now fixing her mask, gesturing Suguru to come sit on her bed and look in the mirror.
“Jeez, why is it so large?” said Suguru as she turned her face trying to look at her side profile and how the mask was way too big for her face.
“It's also big on my face but it looks silly. You look so cute with it.” Satoru giggled as she kept making weird faces in the mirror.
Suguru was probably thanking the Lord for the fact she had a mask on since she would be a blushing mess, and she wouldn't really want Satoru to see her like that. The teasing she'd receive would be insane.
“How about we play Never Have I Ever?” Satoru asked.
“Okay, sure. You go first tho.”
“Never Have I Ever… gone to a party i wasn't invited to?”
Satoru put a finger down. Of course.
“Never Have I Ever, lost a bet.” It was Suguru's turn.
The both of them put a finger down.
“Never Have I Ever pretended to be sick just to leave school earlier.”
“You know, when you decided to do that, you could've at least told me… was god-awful.”
Satoru giggled and put a finger down.
“Thank Lord I had Shoko. Never have I ever re-gifted a gift?”
Once again, both of the girls put a finger down. 3 for Satoru, 2 for Suguru.
“Never have I ever cut my hair on my own?”
Both of them put a finger down.
“Never have I ever received a love letter from my best friend?” Suguru asks. Trick question.
Satoru was thinking. She didn't put a finger down. She looked at Suguru and raised an eyebrow. “What?”
“Put a finger down.”
“What?”
“I said put a finger down.”
“Why?”
Suguru sighed and put her hand on her face. Oh shit. Her hydrating mask.
“Did I miss something?” Satoru let out a nervous giggle.
“The playlist I made for you… the boards I held at your volleyball matches…” she kept her hand over her face even though her mask was now messed up. “When we were assigned to write a some-what romantic letter… and I wrote it for - about you and you read it even though I told you not to.. should I keep going?” she lightly giggled at Satoru's confused expression, trying to connect the dots.
“Oh.” Oh.
“Your question. Go.”
“..never have I ever asked my crush out on a cinema date?”
Suguru bit her lip. Satoru put a finger down.
“Never have I ever kept stuff away from my best friend?” Satoru went again.
“Hey?! It was my turn!”
“Put a finger down.”
And they kept going… for maybe, another half an hour.
“I think we should sleep,” Suguru yawned, “it's kind of late.” 01:00 AM.
“Yeah. Well, I really liked what we did today. Good night.”
“Mhm, same. Good night.”

6:30 AM.
“Did you REALLY forget to turn OFF your alarm? Really?” Suguru was pissed.
“Ummm, ehehehh…” Satoru giggled as she turned the clock alarm off. Indeed, she did forget to schedule the clock so it wouldn't ring at 6:30 AM.
“Jeez. I doubt I'll fall back asleep. And we had what? 5 hours of sleep.” Suguru had sleep problems so being woken up early on a weekend…was not on her schedule. Had to sleep all the hours she missed during the week.
“5 and a half!” Satoru laughed.
Suguru rolled over in bed, now facing the wall.
“Good night.”
“Good night.” Suguru replied.
They both knew Suguru didn't want to be rude, but her sleep schedule still shouldn't be disturbed.
“Hmmm. What hairstyle should I do today?” Satoru asked, probably talking to herself out loud while looking in the mirror.
“Maybe braid your hair.”
“Oh?” Satoru didn't really expect an answer but it was more than welcome. “Think’ it'd look good?”
“Yeah, of course.”
“Wanna braid it for me then?”
Suguru looked at Satoru and not even a second later she smiled and nodded, making her way up to Satoru.
Suguru brushed her friend's hair and then started to carefully braid it. Satoru's hair wasn't too long but nor too short, the perfect length and it was smooth as well. No knots.
Probably around 15 minutes later, Suguru finished.
“Doooone?” Satoru was excited.
“Hold on. I need to do one more thing.” Suguru reached out to take a light pink bow and placed it at the end of Satoru's braided hair. “You can look now.”
“I LOVE IT!!”
Suguru giggled. “Where are we going today?”
“Hmmmm. Maybe go to the coffee shop..”
“No. We always do that.”
“Damn.”
“Fun park?” Suguru suggested.
“Fun park?! Really? I'd LOOOVE TO!!”
“Ok then let's get ready.”
“Did they have a Ferris Wheel last time we came? I swear they didn't.” Suguru asked.
“Well, that, I don't remember.”
“No bands playing today I see. Weird.”
“Mhmmm. Should we go look at the souvenir shops now?”
Suguru giggled, already knowing that she would ask that question. “Yes.”
As they arrived at the few stands that had souvenirs - mostly (overpriced) CDs, shirts with logos on them and keychains - Satoru was over the moon. Suguru was excited as well.
“Foo Fighters shirt!... Spice Girls!”
“Nirvana as well!” Satoru pointed out.
The two girls kept looking around, at every kind of object and stupid thing they could look at.
“Hmmm.. I'm getting kinda hungry and I'm craving donuts..” Satoru whined.
“Then let's go get some. I pick the flavor, tho.”
“Anything but mint! Pleaseeee.”
As they got to the stand and stood in line, they looked at the board which showed all toppings you could get.
“Ok so we can only get two. I pick one and you pick the other?” Satoru offered.
“As long as they somehow match - could work together. I wouldn't want pineapple and white chocolate.” They both laughed.
“Okay thennn.. I pick black chocolate, what about you?”
“Strawberries?”
“Deal!” Satoru ordered their portion.
As they walked away, they looked for a bench to sit on as they ate.
“Shouldn't the lights from the ferris wheel light up already?” Typical question from Satoru.
“The sun hasn't set yet but I guess they'll light up in a few minutes.”
“I can't wait.”
“Wait.”
As they walked around (“waiting”) they saw lots of happy people, kids walking around with different shaped balloons, candies, and as they kept going their shoulders slowly started to brush.
“Look! They finally light up! OOOOH - and they are reflecting in the small lake below.”
Satoru was overjoyed and smiling brightly and it seems that it was reflecting onto Suguru now as well.
“So pretty.”
“Wanna go on it? A ride? It's on meee!” Satoru winked at Suguru.
“You sure?”
“Yeah, of course. C'mon let's go.”
As they got in the long long line, they saw a firework show that was about to start.
Even though the line was long, in about 3 minutes they were already in a cabin, ready to soon reach the top.
“Maybe the fireworks will start as soon as we reach the top? That'd be amazing.”
Suguru could almost see stars and hearts in Satoru's eyes. And she couldn't help the smile that was challenging at the corners of her lips.
“Maybe they will.”
They reached the top, looking how the last bit of the sun was now going down, almost as if the water below them would eat it, until a loud bang was heard.
The firework show.
“NO WAY!!!” Satoru exclaimed.
Suguru started laughing as she looked at the fireworks that were shooting the sky. They did start the show, exactly when they got to the top.
Satoru looked back at Suguru, to see if she was looking at the fireworks. And she was. She was sitting across from Suguru. The same smile that Satoru fell in love with (while they - and I mean Suguru - was skateboarding). And how Suguru's side profile was reflecting the blinding colors of the fireworks.
Satoru got up, took two steps and was now sitting right next to Suguru, who noticed.
“Hm?” Suguru raised an eyebrow.
Satoru was now sure (as if she wasn't conscient about her feelings before - after she talked with Shoko so much about her feelings toward Suguru) of her feelings for her friend.
And so she cupped Suguru's face and looked into her eyes, brought their faces closer and she tilted her face a little bit - still having their eyes locked in place - as a small question of consent if she could kiss Suguru.
Suguru's smile rose even further and moved her head herself closer to Satoru until their lips touched.

And so, rumors spread all around highschool, that those two might be dating (this time they weren’t lying).
Aaaand Satoru promised a special someone (the god-awful girl that spread rumors about Suguru after she left the music band) a punch if she doesn't keep her mouth shut, especially about Suguru.
“Ooh so you agreed to see me? I'm so happy!” Satoru played.
“Mhm.”
“Well then don't be amazed and keep your mouth shut unless you enjoy getting punched.” Satoru punched her face and left.
