Work Text:
“Can you sign it, please? I really love all your works. Been a fan for a long time.” Said the voice of an excited fan. Xavier looked down at quite the visibly nervous girl in front of him and smiled reassuringly. They had just finished one of the few DJ sets of the year and it turned out that a few people were hanging around in front of the venue, hoping to catch a glimpse of them. And they did.
“Thank you so much for your support.” Xavier murmured with a nod, actually not minding a little interaction with the fans even despite his slight tiredness at this late hour. On contraire, he quite enjoyed it. After all, it had been so long since they’d been on tour, and after everyone had been forced to stay at home for so long for obvious reasons, it was just amazing to play for people and see their joy and enthusiasm for their performances. Goddamn, how he couldn’t wait to play their new stuff. But that would have to still wait… “And yes, of course.” He added while taking a magazine and marker from the slightly shaky hands of the fan.
He turned a bit towards the nearby shop window to get some light and took a proper look at the item in his hands to see a certain Les Inrockuptibles magazine with him and Gaspard on the cover. It was quite an old one from 2016, taken at the very beginning of the Woman era. Xavier softly hummed under his breath. It was also quite a, well, let’s be fucking honest, gay looking cover with both of them leaning into each other and with an equally gay interview, where he’d actually spilled the beans that he and Gaspard had been living together during recording of Woman. All quite a nice harbinger of the album, which showcased their bond quite nicely…
“I haven’t seen this picture in ages.” He remarked with a light chuckle and quickly wrote down his neat signature on the paper.
“I love it. You both look so great there and the interview was so interesting too.” The fan said with an enthusiasm present in her eyes and voice. Xavier grinned at the words and looked up, causing his eyes to finally notice what kind of shop they were standing in front of. Namely a wedding shop…
Xavier swallowed a little and let his eyes wander over the shop window with the mannequins of brides and grooms dressed in fancy white fabrics and not only. Then he looked down at the magazine with him and Gaspard in his hands and back at the mannequins again, this time paying some more attention to the grooms. Especially the one with a white rose in his lapel. Eternal loyalty. New beginnings…
“Um, here.” He murmured, clearing his throat as he handed the magazine back to the fan, who just thanked him and walked away. And he just stared some more at the various wedding attire for a while, and then glanced at Gaspard, who was standing a few meters away, exchanging a few words with some people standing there.
“Hm, what’s up?” Gaspard asked as he approached Xavier. He raised a brow at the deep thoughtfulness visible on Xavier’s face and joined him in gazing at the same mannequins as well.
“Marriage.” Xavier whispered under his breath and Gaspard quickly looked at him with a surprise, his mouth slightly agape.
“What?” Gaspard asked with both of his brows raised now and Xavier just smiled with this nice sort of satisfaction when the pieces seem to get together… Hell yeah, that was it. That was what his heart truly fucking wanted and for ages too.
“The next album should be about our marriage. The imagery full of meaningful and bold tenderness, truly showing who we are to each other. How fucking close.” Xavier explained with certainty while looking deep into Gaspard’s eyes, the said imagery already appearing in his mind as the mighty inspiration just hit him. Fancy suits, roses, symbolism of loyalty and something akin to them standing at the fucking altar, even. Yes, yes, that made all fucking sense! Woman was some sort of a pretext to tell how much they love each other. And now? Well, he didn’t want their fourth album to be a mere pretext anymore. He just wanted it to be a bold sign of their love.
“Are you proposing to me or something?” Gaspard asked with his head tilted as they began walking towards the taxi, some teasing apparent in his eyes and voice, though there was a lot of affection present too. He opened the car doors for Xavier and put the hand on his back as they went in. Xavier chuckled.
“Well, unfortunately I don’t have any ring with me to give you now but then again, I’ve gifted you quite a few already, so.” He answered after giving the driver their address, his carefreeness and affection matching Gaspard’s.
“Pfft still, proposing without a ring? I expected you to be a bit more romantic, you know.” Gaspard remarked with a grin, his hand grabbing Xavier’s to hold it. Xavier huffed under his breath and laced their fingers together.
“You’re the romantic one in this relationship.” He pointed out with a smile, softly gazing at his lover. Gaspard only chuckled, not bothering to disagree that yes, indeed, he had quite a romantic soul. And instead, he just brought Xavier's hand to his lips to give a soft kiss, not caring much that they weren’t alone. After all, at some point you just stop caring about some silly hiding and who may see or not. And moreover, it becomes quite a contest of how much people were actually able to see.
“I like the idea, though. Visuals full of confidence, but also romance… It’d be very fitting, I think.” Gaspard agreed with a nod, his own imagination doing a pretty good job of coming up with the images that could well show what they both wanted and God knew that he liked those images a damn lot.
“You get it.” Xavier concluded with a soft voice as he looked tenderly at his partner. At that very moment, he couldn't help but let his hand run lightly over Gaspard’s cheek, savoring the warmth and softness of that lovely skin as much as he could. Gaspard shivered as he felt Xavier's warm breath on his lips and soon moved his head just enough for their lips to meet.
Both just sighed with contentment into each other’s mouths, both of them so loving the current feeling and the idea that’d bring a new beginning to Justice and their relationship.
