KAITO: So, Kamishiro, I already know the answer to this question, but what made you pick up directing shows for other people again? Considering you mentioned that you were something like a lost person during your middle school and first year of highschool, it seems more likely that you would have stopped performing altogether.

Rui: Ah? What an interesting question, fufu~ Though, If I had to answer, I would say it was the people who found me and became my friends who gave me the encouragement to perform again.

KAITO: An interesting answer. Would you mind expanding on it more?

Rui: Gladly~ As I said, the encouragement of my past troupe and friends kept me going. I found that directing others was so much better than doing everything on my own. Though if I had to say… There was one boy who truly saved me. He was the first to approach me to join his troupe, who didn't treat my machinations as something strange and admired me like I admired him. Even when things did go awry at first, he was the first one who apologised to me. He made me realise how good it felt to have people have faith in me.

KAITO: That's inspiring… would you mind saying who this boy is?

Rui: It would be no fun if I said it so early~ Maybe I'll feel like telling it later on in the video?

KAITO: Whatever suits you, Kamishiro-kun. How about describing him?

Rui: Oh, I would love to~ He's got the brightest amber eyes, he looks at me so gently that it makes me want to melt on the spot. He reminds me of the sunset— he's so fiery yet his love is so warm, like the gentle rays of the sun when it gives way to the night. His hair is eye-catching too, and it's soft to the touch— trust me, I'd know. He's loud, yet it's so strangely assuring, like you know he adores you and it gives you a security you'll never know with anybody else. He's so unbelievably kind and patient with me. Actually, he's like that with everybody. I'm guessing it's the big brother instinct? I wouldn't know.

But— gosh, I adore him, you know? He's like the sun, one that brightens your life just by smiling at you. He makes me feel so— warm, i suppose. Loved. In the ways he knows what I like and don't always so considerate. As I said— he saved me. Even if he didn't mean to, he still did. Just by lending a hand outx I was given a second chance. I'm just so utterly, irrevocably in lo—

KAITO: Are you aware of the quote unquote "beef" your 'subtwitter' is going through with the World Star, Tsukasa Tenma's own subtwitter?

Rui: Oya?~ Haha, that? It's funny to scroll through the multiple threads of Tsu—Tenma-kun and I's fans arguing, when I am a director and he is an actor— what's there to compare, anyways? I wasn't able to find out why they started fighting, but perhaps you know something?

KAITO: Well, I don't know the details, But it most likely started with two people who are fans of you two respectively, which just devolved into a whole mess of a "fandom war". It's honestly very hard to find a coherent timeline for these fandom wars in the first place, so it'd be too much of a hassle to try and find a reason.

Rui: Ah, I see. Well, if anything, at least the 'beef' makes a funny topic to talk about with others. Actually, this is a little related to the question near the beginning of the video. You asked who the boy was, correct?

KAITO: Considering you're bringing this up now, I'm assuming this boy is Tsukasa Tenma, then?

Rui: My, my, sharp as ever, KAITO–san! Our dear star was the one who saved me. I suppose it's not shocking, since it's a common fact that he's so selfless. Sadly, we've drifted away after highschool. Tsukasa–kun is such an interesting guy to talk to, you know? So it was quite sad. Though, it's not that bad, since I can still talk to him on occasion.

KAITO: That's news for sure. Though I suppose not that surprising for people who've known you even when you were still performing at the wonderstage, even if as you said, you've drifted apart. I notice that you call Tenma by his first name, though. Were you that close to him?

Rui: Haha, yes~ Did you know that his room was so plain compared to now? He used to have only three walls– literally. The other one is a window, practically broadcasting his room to the world. For privacy's sake though, I won't disclose too much. Just know his room is terrible.

Miku: Hehe, alright! Let's start with the glaring question: What is your relationship with Rui?! Are you aware of your fans currently shipping you?

Tsukasa: Easy! Rui is my dearest friend, my closest confidante, and my director! The only person who could make me shine so brightly! He's done a lot for me, and I couldn't be more grateful to him. Tsukasa leans back into the beanbag, grabbing a stray plushie from the floor and holding it close to his chest.

Tsukasa: Describing Rui, Huh? Hmm… I like his eyes a lot. It's a beautiful golden colour, and it can be both piercing— like it was staring into your soul, or it could be so soft, like you were the entire world. I know people would like to compare me to the Sun, And perhaps Rui as the moon— But I believe Rui doesn't need me to shine bright. In fact, I think I'm the one who needs him. He always insists it's the opposite, but I digress!

He's so gentle with everybody, even if It's not so obvious. He cares through the quiet actions, like when he made Nene Robo-Nene, or when he defended Emu from her brothers, or just— whenever he goes out of his way to help someone, even at his own expense. He's got a heart of gold, just like his gorgeous eyes.

I know he says I saved him, But I think people like Akiyama and Nene did so much more for him. Yet, it makes me happy that I did my part. He's helped me so much as well. I can only describe him like this: Caring, and Ethereal. He's a beautiful person, both inwards and outwards. I want to show him how much he's helped me grow— because I love him, as my friend. For me, he's the sun, because he'd brought a light I never knew I needed in my life, and I find that its easier to burn bright when I have him by my side. My one wish is this: to see him each day, like as the sun rises and falls in the sky. I love him, because He's my dearest friend.

Miku: Alright, Another question! Some fans are wondering that, since you two were in the same Troupe before and often acted together, why haven't you made anything together at all?

Tsukasa: Ooh! Well, thats usually because my superiors are the ones deciding that. I'd love to star in one of Rui's shows one day, but theres just never been the chance! We've been discussing it for a while, though, and I do hope we'll be able to work together again, whether if it's to be a big shot TV-series or movie, or even just a simple acting stunt in public like we used to do. I know I'd love to act with Rui, even if he is more known for his incredible skills as a Director and Inventor.

Miku: I'd love to see you two act again too! As you said, Tsukasa-kun really does shine twice as bright whenever you're with Rui-kun!

Tsukasa: Haha, of course!

Miku's eyes scan the page breifly, pressing over a spot in the paper.

Miku: Here's another! A few of your old classmates have come out and mentioned that you two were called Oddball one and two! Why is that?

Tsukasa: A—agh! Not that…! Well, as you know, Rui and I became friends in our second year of highschool. Rui was well known for his inventions and often tested it in school… and he always involved me! We'd often be chased or caught by teachers in the act, and my star student reputation was tarnished!

Miku: But you did trust and enjoy your time with Rui, right?

Tsukasa: W–well.. of course I did! Rui could never hurt anybody on purpose— I mean, he panicked so much when he accidentally hurt me, and I didn't even blame him! So of course, I trust Rui fully, because he's always worrying about everybody even when he has no need to. And of course I enjoyed it! I'd sacrifice my star student reputation again if it made Rui so happy.

People said he was so much happier after meeting me, and it— it makes me happy! Of course! If the people I love are happy, then I'm happy too. So of course I had fun with Rui, even if we did end up getting in trouble.

"Rui, is it working?" Tsukasa's voice resonates in the background, the peach-tipped blond peeking over slightly at the phone in Rui's hands, watching curiously as he presses a few buttons in the settings in order to adjust the settings and quality of the video. Viewers trickled in a flood as more and more people received the stream notification.

"I'm just adjusting some things, don't worry. I just want to give the viewers the best quality I can give them." Rui smiles, sliding something on the screen before being satisfied, and finally holding up the phone. "There, perfect."

"Finally!" He cheers loudly as he presses himself next to Rui, watching as his face comes into view on the stream video, the quality not dropping for even a moment. "Ah, you were right, The quality is great!"

Tsukasa grins widely at Rui, and he could only smile back at him, cheeks subtly flushing a light pink.

"Thank you, I have to live up to your standards since we're on a date, after all." Rui chuckles lightly, playing with his phone as he attempts to hide his obvious embarrassment.

"Live up to my standards?" He looks at him incredulously, raising a brow at him. "There's no need to live up to my standards when— when you've surpassed them long ago, Rui!" Tsukasa stumbles over his sentence, but he still puffs out his chest as confidently as he can, placing a hand on Rui's shoulder.

"Thank you, Tsukasa-kun." Rui smiles gently, gratitude dancing in his eyes as he thanks him. "Though, I'd still like to do my best as your date, as always. Therefore…"

He fumbles with his phone for a little before switching it over to his right hand, gripping it in a firm manner in order for it not to fall. Now that his left hand was free, he uses this chance to raise it towards the hand Tsukasa has on his shoulder and places a hand over his, deliberately ignoring the way Tsukasa immediately grasps his hand and entwines their fingers together.

"We should get going now, right? We wouldn't want to waste our day here, after all." Rui teases him, even though the way his voice trembled slightly gave away his nervousness. His attempt at being suave was immediately shattered whenever he looked into Tsukasa's eyes, so wide and genuine, so he deliberately looked everywhere except for the other's face.

It's with Rui's distraction that he fails to see Tsukasa also fumbling over his words, mouth agape as his face was flushed up to the tip of his ears, coughing lightly in embarrassment, doing his best to stay composed (although failing to.)

"Why of course! After all, the point of this d–date is to take a trip down memory lane! Haha!" Tsukasa cheers, a wide smile on his face as he squeezes Rui's hand, bringing the taller back to his senses. "After all, our school trip here was the first time somebody ever invited you over to their group, right?"

Rui blinks before smiling back, cheeks only a slight pink now, nothing like the furious red it was before. "Second, actually. You were the first."

"Well-! That doesn't count!" He huffs in mock annoyance, pulling their entwined hands down from Rui's shoulder. "You know what I'm talking about!"

"Yes, I do~ I'm just teasing you, Tsukasa-kun." Rui laughs with no bite. Tsukasa's expressions softens, laughing lightly with him.

The two start walking down past the shops together, the crowd bustling with life as people went on with their lives and tourists fawned over the mutlitudes of shops lining the road. Vendors could be heard shouting and loudly promoting their stores, and Advertisers handed out pamphlets and fliers to whoever passed by them. The noise almost drowns out the small chatter Rui and Tsukasa were sharing, though neither paid much mind to it.

Every few moments, they'd pass by a shop or a boutique that catches their fancy, and they'd browse whatever is on stock, though ultimately only buying a few things because they'd rather not have to carry around so many things. They continued to walk down whatever path they wanted to go to, occasionally circling the same block a few times when they lost track of what they're doing.

"Right, and do you remember when you and Shizuku got lost in the crowd, and we only found you two when you directed Shizuku in an impromptu parade performance?" Tsukasa rattles off of the top of his head, a wide smile on his face as he talks about whatever came to mind. "I remember seeing it and saying what an amazing director you are, which still stands true today!"

Rui, who was listening attentively to each of his words, only smiled gently. "I'm glad that even such a small performance of mine is praiseworthy for you. Ah, remind me, do you remember when we got scolded later that night for being so loud?"

After a few moments of contemplation, Tsukasa's eyes widens and he snaps his fingers. "Ah, right…! We had to write a letter, and I got so distracted talking to you that the teacher scolded me when they came back!"

Rui nods, grinning. "Well, as you were getting scolded, I couldn't help but think that Tsukasa-kun always knows how to bring endless smiles to my face, even when you don't mean to. And like you say, It still stands true today. I feel the most complete with you, Tsukasa."

Tsukasa's eyes widened at his words, eyes glittering with shock before softening, a small smile on his face instead of the bright grin he usually sports. "Then I'm glad, Rui."

Rui only smiles at that, and they both fall silent, allowing a comfortable silence between them as they continue walking around, occasionally pointing out stores that interest them.

After a few more minutes of small chatter here and there, Tsukasa flicks his eyes over to the Stream chat, messages flooding and making it almost impossible to make out any message. Although, that doesn't stop Tsukasa from catching a few stray messages from the corner of his eye.

"Hmm… Yes, Rui and I aren't dating." At the sound of Tsukasa speaking, Rui tilts his head towards the shorter man, But Tsukasa only shakes his head and smiles at him before continuing his sentence. "Both of us may be gay, but we're really just good friends. All this so-called physical affection is something we've always done!"

In the background, Rui's smile almost seems strained at his words, though there was nobody to point it out.

"Fufu, yes. Our star over here is a very affectionate person to everybody, Not just me. It seems like I'm not that special, everyone." Rui mockingly pouts, not truly upset. "Oh, poor me, just another person for Tsukasa-kun to fuss over.."

Tsukasa only raises a brow at him for a few moments before finally groaning, a fond smile tugging at his lips as he pulls Rui closer with their entwined hands and wraps him in a big hug.

"You're always like this, so dramatic. Ugh," He grumbles under his breath, huffing in amusement when the taller one practically melts into the hug. "Please, the only people who could be more special than you are my siblings, and that's because they're my family."

"Aw, really?" Rui smiles teasingly, subtly flicking the camera on his phone and turns a blind eye to the confused messages in the Stream Chat. He'd rather not embarrass himself on camera. "Hnn.. well, you said you'd make it up to me earlier for not paying attention on our date, right? How about you prove your words and make it up to me right now?" He untangles his fingers from Tsukasa's and uses his free hand to point at his cheek with a teasing grin, watching as Tsukasa's cheeks reddened in embarrassment.

"You—!" Tsukasa hissed at him with no real anger, though he was clearly flustered, if his red cheeks didn't already give it away. "Ugh, You love taking advantage of the fact I can't resist you when it comes to things like these…"

Rui only shrugs, ignoring the way his heart thundered in his chest as he cursed himself for uttering such a strange suggestion. "You don't have to, of course~ It's always your choice, Tsukasa-kun."

It takes a few long seconds for Tsukasa to respond, and before Rui could repeat again that he didn't have to, (Because really, he said those words on a whim, and the last thing he wants is to force Tsukasa into doing anything.) A warm hand suddenly grabs his own and he's dragged into some back alley, and pressed up against a bricked wall of what he assumes to be a café.

The bricks dig into his back as he's kept between Tsukasa and the wall, nothing but the awkward sounds of their breaths and the relentless buzz of messages swarming their chat, which neither of them paid any mind to. Not that Rui could pay any mind to it if he tried— not when Tsukasa was so dizzyingly close to the point he was sure the shorter one could hear how nervous he was.

"Tsukasa?" Rui tentatively asks, watching the other man carefully as their breaths almost seem to mingle from the limited space between them. There's no answer from Tsukasa for a few more seconds, and they're effectively just pressed up together in an alley with nothing but Rui's heart almost bursting forth from his chest.

Suddenly, after what felt like an eternity, Tsukasa moves, and the first thing he does is to press his hands on each side of Rui's cheeks, catching the taller man by surprise.

"You want me to make it up to you and to prove myself, right?" Tsukasa asks, voice barely higher than a murmur. A sudden burst of confidence coming from nowhere blooms in his chest, and with a hardened resolve, he continues to speak. "Well, as a star, I have to do my best in each role given. And if my director gives me a go ahead, who am I to deny him?"

Before Rui could process those words and cut in, Tsukasa suddenly surges forward and closes the gap between them, tugging Rui downwards as he places a kiss on his cheek.

The moment his lips met Rui's cheek, He pulled back just as fast, though almost hesitant to do so. Rui, on the other hand, who just finished processing Tsukasa's words, blinks startledly before his eyes widened in shock at the realization. His face immediately bursts into flames, mouth dropping open as Tsukasa only smiles cheekily back at him, though his eyes crinkle at the sides with fondness.

"Tsukasa—?" Rui starts, but before he could continue his sentence, Tsukasa surges forward again and places a kiss on the other cheek with a breathy laugh, almost teasing. It's this kiss that renders Rui utterly useless, face burning brighter than before, if such a thing was possible.

Tsukasa tugs Rui down again to press another kiss, this time on his forehead and the corner of his left eye, heart soaring as he watches the taller get more flustered with each kiss that he places on his face.

"If you're already like this when I've barely done anything, then it must mean I'm doing my role well, right?" He smiles proudly, bringing a hand down from Rui's face and down to Rui's own hands and locking them together again in a firm hold. "I'll do my best to impress you further, then!"

With a stronger resolve, Tsukasa goes back to peppering kisses on Rui's face again, this time making a mental note not to leave any place unmarked by his love.The first thing he does is press a kiss on the tip of his nose, then the mole hidden right behind Rui's right ear, the sides of rui's lips, underneath his bright eyes, Right on his jawline, and a stray kiss left right where the neck collarbone meet. The entire time, Rui had not made a single noise— only a bright face and lips pressed together in a single line, unresponsive.

To top it all off, Tsukasa kisses him on the cheek one last time before leaning away, a cheerful smile on his face as he feels Rui squeeze his hand thrice. Looking to his left, he sees the live still on going, and still as unreadable as last time. In fact, it seemed like it was less readable than earlier.

"Slow down with your messages, I can only read so much!" Tsukasa huffs, using his little knowledge of streaming to add a cooldown for the chat box. This way, he could now see the messages much clearer, though the cooldown didn't seem to make much of a difference.

"Hold on, did you— see all of THAT?!" Tsukasa shouts loudly, flushing a deep red as Rui, out of his trance, leans forward towards Tsukasa who was looking at his phone. "Wait, how much did you see?! Surely not all of it, Right?"

"Oh… that's embarrassing…" Tsukasa huffs looking away in shame. "Er, to answer your question, me and Rui are in fact not dating..! Whatever you saw— well, it's just something we do..? Like, a teasing thing! You know..! Rui does it to me sometimes, too!"

At the mention of his name, Rui perks up, pink still dusting his cheeks. "..That's probably the best explanation we can give you. The bottom line is— we aren't.. dating."

"We should get out of this dingy alleyway though, I was out of my mind when I dragged you here…!" Tsukasa exclaims, letting out a loud sigh as he walks out of the alley with Rui in tow, tugging the other to match up with his steps. "Since I feel bad for doing that right next to this shop, we should have our dinner here!"

Rui blinks, before looking down at his watch.

"I didn't notice it got this late already," He muses. He looks back up to the darkening skies, the sun setting somewhere in the distance and painting the clouds and the skies orange and pink. "Ah, A shame~ I didn't even get to bring you to the arcade like I promised."

Tsukasa only shakes his head at him, turning away for a moment to wave at the employee who opened the door for them with a smile. "I really don't mind. It was on me for getting us so sidetracked, and I still had fun with you anyways! We could always just go on another date, after all."

"Of course, Tsukasa-kun. I had fun with you too." Rui smiles, taking a seat on one the cushioned seats lining the wall, moving sidewards as Tsukasa went to sit beside him, rather than accross him. "It will be hard to schedule a meeting again with your busy schedule, right?"

Propping the phone up on the tissue holder Tsukasa visibly deflates at his words. "That's right… We can still call each other, though! So it's not all too bad!"

After browsing through the menu and ordering, the two chat for a few minutes before deciding to entertain a few questions from the viewers to pass the time as they wait for their order.

"My favourite animal? Well, the Pegasus, of course! Just like my family name!" Tsukasa boasts loudly, patting his chest proudly. "People say it doesn't count, but I believe it does! Perhaps not real, but certainly still an animal!"

Rui leans over towards him, squinting at the blurs of messages speeding past every second. "For me… my favourite food, huh? Well, my favourite is soda candy. Any and all food is fine as long as it doesn't have vegetables in them."

"I still wonder how you're so tall when you barely even eat vegetables." Tsukasa huffs amusedly, eyes flicking over to the waitress that was about to approach them. "Look, our orders are here!"

The waitress lays down the food in front of them and respectfully wishes them a fine meal before walking back to the kitchen, leaving the two men to their meals. Tsukasa evidently looks excited, picking up a fork and only barely remembering to mind his manners before digging into his food with a delighted grin.

Rui, on the other hand, subtly picks out the vegetables from his own meal and slides them over to Tsukasa, who was too busy praising the food to notice what he was doing. Once he finished picking out the vegetables, he also digs into the meal, and hums in pleasant surprise, a smile on his face that compliments Tsukasa's own wide grin.

"This really is great— hey, wait a minute…" Tsukasa glances down at his meal and eyes the extra vegetables tucked into the corner of his plate, and looks up to see a grinning Rui staring back at him. "Come one Rui, playing this game again?"

The taller one only hums, taking another bite of his portion of the food and ignoring Tsukasa's blatant staring. It takes a few more moments before Tsukasa finally groans, picking at the extra greens and shoving it with bits of rice and meat before holding it up in front of Rui.

"I'll make it up to you if you eat at least three pieces of lettuce, alright?" Tsukasa bargains, voice carrying a light exasperated tone as Rui contemplates his offer with a cat-like smirk.

"Since Tsukasa-kun is asking so nicely…" Rui hums, cheeks flushing lightly as he leans forward to take a bite of the food handed out to him. He visibly grimaces at the taste of the vegetables on his tongue, but he swallows it down anyways, making his mind focus on the bright smile Tsukasa is sporting on his face.

"Good job, Rui!" Tsukasa praises with a teasing lilt in his voice, gathering up the lettuce, rice and meat again. "What would you like me to do?"

Rui tilts his head and thinks for a moment, before leaning forward, startling Tsukasa who was reading through the Stream chat. "Why don't you let me kiss you each time I have to eat the vegetables, Tsukasa-kun?"

"E-eh?!" The shorter flushes a bright red at his words, almost dropping the utensils in his hands. "Well, if It'll get you to eat your vegetables, then I think it's a good trade off!"

"Thank you, Tsukasa-kun." Rui grins, before surging forwards and pressing a kiss on Tsukasa's cheek for a moment before immediately pulling away, heart thrumming wildly in his chest. "I'm feeling much more motivated to eat my vegetables now~"

Tsukasa, who's cheeks have flushed a bright red, glares at Rui with no real heat, grumbling underneath his breath as he holds up the next piece up to Rui's mouth. Of course, Rui generously accepts his offer, chewing the food as quickly as he could.

"Second one," He smiles, and presses a kiss to the opposite cheek. The heat from Tsukasa's face could almost be felt to the touch, which brought out a small laugh from Rui and a judgmental squint from Tsukasa.

"You're having too much fun with this, I swear…" Tsukasa grumbles and looks away, picking at the last piece of lettuce. Before he could raise it up towards Rui, though, the other beats him to it, catching him off guard.

"Rui!" Tsukasa hissed, looking at the other man questioningly. Rui swallows down the food before grinning widely, eyes glinting mischievously.

They sit there in a tense silence before suddenly, Rui surges forward and makes the most idiotic decision yet: pressing a chaste kiss on Tsukasa's own lips.

It was fleeting, a feathery touch that grazed by before leaving immediately after, but even that faint feeling caused Tsukasa's eyes to widen in shock, cheeks bursting into a furious red, the tips of his ears burning as Rui leans back with an equally red face, though a cat-like smirk was on his face.

"Sorry, I admit it was an impulsive decision." Rui tilts his head and smiles before turning away from Tsukasa and towards his food, leaving the shorter man stuttering over his words for the third time that day— breath caught in his throat by the sudden and unexpected kiss.

"J— just warn me next time, or something…" He grumbles, flicking his eyes over to the camera, suddenly self aware.

"I'm sorry to cut it off so abruptly, everyone! I still hope you liked our semi-collaboration stream!" Tsukasa grins, trying (and failing) to keep his composure as Rui turns back to him and scoots closer to come into the camera's view. "I personally enjoyed my time with Rui and you all, so this will be farewell for now..!"

Underneath the table, Rui takes the initiative again and entwines their hand together, ignoring the way his heart thundered in his chest and the way Tsukasa's heart best just as loud as his, too, and opting to add onto Tsukasa's outro as well.

"Some of you might have thought of it as a little boring, but think of it as a peek into our lives, you know? Not something you see everyday, after all." He smiles, reaching over to the phone. "So, I'd like to bid you all farewell. Have a good night, everyone."

He flicks the button to end the stream, and watches as the camera shuts off. Immediately, Tsukasa melts into his side, a loud groan spilling from his lips.

"That was so tiring, But it was so fun too…!" He complained, and Rui only chuckles and takes a bite of the cupcake they had ordered for dessert.

"As you said, we could always go on another date some other time." Tsukasa looks up at him for a moment before smiling fondly and nodding to his words. He leans away from Rui's touch and picks up his phone, checking the calendar.

"Oh, we should probably part ways now, right? We do have another stream with Akiyama, and I wouldn't want to miss it for the world when I've already cleared my schedule for it!" Tsukasa fusses, taking out his wallet as he raises a hand to a waiter for the bill. Rui bats his hand away as he takes out his own wallet, huffing.

"I'll pay. And don't worry, Mizuki doesn't mind if we're that late, since she usually streams in the evenings. We have time." The bill arrives, and Rui immediately places down the payment, leaving Tsukasa with no room to argue. The waiter, startled, rushes back to the counter to give them the change. "Besides, I have one more thing to give you."

Pulling out a red box from his pocket, Rui opens it towards Tsukasa, and smiles gently when the other man gasps with a wide smile.

"Oh Rui, this is amazing! When did you buy this?" Tsukasa picks up the moon pendant, sapphires engraved into it, the blue a beautiful hue that shone in the afternoon glow. He takes a few more moments to admire it before handing it over to Rui in a silent request before turning his back towards the other.

Gracefully accepting his request, Rui loops the necklace around Tsukasa's neck and attaches the hook to its proper place, watching the way the sapphire shone perfectly in tandem with everything about Tsukasa.

"I bought it when you weren't looking. I wanted to make it the final thing to remind you of today, or something like that. I thought it would suit you. Actually…" Rui reaches inside his clothes and hoists up his own necklace, an amber sun pendant that complemented Tsukasa's own. "I like to think it'd remind us of each other."

Tsukasa's eyes widen for a moment, before he starts tearing up, leaning forward to wrap Rui in a hug, a bright smile on his face as Rui reciprocates the hug, wrapping his arms around Tsukasa's waist.

"I appreciate the gift, Rui! Thank you so much, especially for today!"

Rui only smiles, only full of fondness.

"No problem."

[ ATTACHED VIDEO: An excerpt from Chapter three.

The camera is pointed towards the floor, the shoes of many people passing by on the screen, the cacophony of voices in the background almost drowning the sound of Rui and Tsukasa talking.

RUI: Hnn.. well, you said you'd make it up to me earlier for not paying attention on our date, right? How about you prove your words and make it up to me right now?

TSUKASA: You—! Ugh, You love taking advantage of the fact I can't resist you when it comes to things like these…

RUI: You don't have to, of course~ It's always your choice, Tsukasa-kun.

There is no noise save for the sounds of footsteps and the crowd for a few moments, until the scene suddenly shifts, and instead of the only thing being seen is the shoes of passersby and the sound of chatter, it's the wall of a concrete building and the steady breaths of the two men.

RUI: Tsukasa?

It's quiet for a few moments again, before Rui yelps and the camera shakes.

TSUKASA: You want me to make it up to you and to prove myself, right? (…) Well, as a star, I have to do my best in each role given. And if my director gives me a go ahead, who am I to deny him?

Something happens that's unseen by the camera, because the camera shakes again, and Rui's breathing becomes hitched.

RUI: Tsukasa—?

He's cut off by something Tsukasa does, The actor laughing breathily as Rui mutters a string of incomprehensible words underneath his breath, voice an octave higher than normal.

Seemingly by accident, the camera suddenly switches its perspective, and now the situation at hand is fully visible. Rui was pressed against a bricked wall of what's assumed to be a café, Tsukasa pressed right against him and cupped Rui's cheeks with his hands.

He pulls Rui down with a tug and presses a kiss on his forehead and on his cheek, Rui's face getting more flushed by the second.

TSUKASA: If you're already like this when I've barely done anything, then it must mean I'm doing my role well, right? (...) I'll do my best to impress you further, then!

Tsukasa now continues to pepper kisses all over Rui's face, leaving no place untouched, until he presses one final kiss on his cheek and pulls back with a cheerful smile. ]

"I can't blame you all, though. Have you seen those two? Whenever I tag along on their 'dates' I always spend a few minutes mentally preparing myself, It's tiring!"

Mizuki drags their cursor over to a group chat pinned on top of all the servers they've joined, 5 unread messages from it, which was just Tsukasa asking Mizuki if they were done setting up the stream.

"By the way, They're having their cams on for the stream, as by my insistence~ 'Why point it out?' Because they're streaming in the same room! Haha~" They grin manically at the messages flooding the chat box, cursing them for amplifying their suffering. "You guys have no idea how much worse it can get. Think of yesterday as a taste test of the real thing, alright?"

They hover their hand over the call button for a few moments, thinking.

"Hey, Let's surprise them. It'll be fun!" Mizuki smiles, skimming through the messages on their other monitor. A few messages expressed agreement, while most were vehemently disagreeing, knowing well something would go wrong. "Wah, killjoys! Trust me, I bet they're doing something embarrassing right now. Just watch, chat~"

Ignoring the cries of the viewers and the pains of the moderators struggling to keep the messages in check, Mizuki joins the call, watching in expectancy as the cameras load in, their cameras being placed neatly just underneath their own camera on the stream video.

There, loaded in all its glory, was a side profile of Rui sitting on his chair, with Tsukasa perched neatly on his lap. Rui's hands were raised towards the actor's face, cupping his cheeks with his hands. Both their faces are flushed a deep red, Tsukasa's noticeably much more than Rui's. The blonde curls his fingers tighter into the jacket Rui was wearing, before leaning down while simultaneously pulling the other up to let their lips meet, completely oblivious to their stunned spectators.

"Rui, Mizuki might join at any time," Tsukasa mutters when they pull away from each other, puffs of breath escaping his parted lips as he raises his hand to tuck a strand of the taller's hair behind their ear. Rui hums, burying his face into Tsukasa's chest. "They might misunderstand again."

"Then we'll clear it up again, simple as that." Rui chuckles, though he flicks his eyes over to the screen, seemingly not noticing Mizuki's profile that was flickering on the call. Tsukasa, seeing that he couldn't talk sense into him, only huffs. Instead, he drops his head to bring his lips down to Rui's ear, breath puffing into it as he pressed a chaste kiss, almost teasing.

In an almost repeat to the day before, Tsukasa pressed a kiss onto each part of Rui's face he could press it on. Though this time, it was much more languid and slow, not like the quick pecks from before. One thing is the same, however: And it's the fact Rui stays frozen in place, only able to limply keep his hands wrapped around Tsukasa's waist to keep himself grounded.

Clearly, the two were so far gone into whatever they were doing, that Mizuki doubts that they could catch their attention just from the sound of them joining the call or speaking. Though, they decided to wait a little more before bringing them down to their senses— gaining too much entertainment from the situation.

"Oh my god…" They giggle lightly, whispering to the chat in order not to catch their attention "See? What did I tell you, chat?"

"See, chat? It's such a pain to do anything with these two and their just friends bit." They blow a raspberry, adjusting their headset on top of their head as they scan the chat, giggling lightly at a few messages that caught their attention here and there. "Anyway, I should get their attention..."

Unmuting themselves, Mizuki grins before leaning into the microphone and letting out a loud cough, watching as the two were startled from their seat, whipping their heads toward the monitor. Mizuki only holds up a peace sign while laughing maniacally, Tsukasa's face bursting into a scarlet red as he runs off towards his own set up just a few metres away from Rui, who was still stunned and unblinking.

"Mizuki, why didn't you let us know you were there?!" Tsukasa hisses into the microphone, embarrassment seeping into his tone as he brings up the stream chat on his second monitor, flicking his eyes on the messages. "It's embarrassing to be caught doing something like that..."

He peeks over at Rui beside him, the other man having seemingly composed himself in the few short moments he looked away— even if Tsukasa could tell he was anything but composed, with how tense his body was and how his hands trembled underneath his desk. Mizuki had muttered something in response to his words, but he wasn't able to catch it as he brought his hand up towards Rui's trembling ones, and interlaced them together. He squeezes them thrice in a firm manner before pulling away, watching as Rui seemed much more relaxed now.

"Sorry, did I go overboard with the…" Tsukasa signs slowly underneath his desk as he bantered lightly with Mizuki and responded to a few messages in the chat, "Kisses? You could always stop me if you think I'm being too overwhelming."

Rui chuckles and cracks a gentle smile, and Tsukasa briefly lets his heart skip a beat at it before waving the feeling away.

"Don't worry, I'm okay." He signs back to Tsukasa, briefly turning away to respond to Mizuki before turning back to him. "The only problem is I like it too much when you kiss me.

Tsukasa takes a few moments to process what Rui just signed before blushing furiously again, whipping his head towards the monitor and grumbling underneath his breath as he swatted the other away, The taller only laughing melodically.

"I'll keep that in mind, then."

"So, Mizuki, do you have your server prepared already?" Tsukasa pipes up, Interrupting the small conversation that Rui and Mizuki were sharing with each other. Mizuki looks up and processes his words for a moment before grinning wildly, sending a set of codes into their group chat for the server.

"Of course, We've delayed the stream by talking too much anyways." They open minecraft on their tab, listening as Rui assisted Tsukasa on getting into the server as they played with the settings of the background music.

"Hope you're ready, cause I'll bet Rui might just beat the enderdragon before Tsukasa could find a nether fortress~" Mizuki teases, logging into the minecraft world. They take a moment to admire the vast amounts of flowers that were scattered all around before immediately getting to work and cutting down trees, only half minding the notification of Rui and Tsukasa joining the world.

"As if! A star like me is great at any game!" Tsukasa grumbles, running over to the nearest tree and moping as he attempts to cut it down. Rui momentarily stops in his frolicking to pat Tsukasa on the back, nodding solemnly at him.

"Keep telling yourself that, dude," Mizuki laughs, setting down a crafting table and rushing to make a set of stone tools. They were familiar with the routine of collecting materials, digging down to collect cobblestone and climbing back up to continue crafting. When they finished crafting, though, they noticed that Tsukasa… was still cutting down the same tree from earlier.

This contrasted with Rui, who, in the short time that Mizuki had turned away, apparently finished running around in the fields and decided to mow through the flowers, collecting the ones he found interesting. Which was to say, every flower within a 300 block radius. Well, Mizuki wasn't going to judge, not when Rui seems so happy to be collecting them all.

Mizuki decides to leave them to their own devices for a while, opting to run off in order to find a cave or village for materials. All while keeping an ear out for whatever conversation those two decide to have, and replying to whatever question is thrown her way from the chat.

"Tsukasa-kun, come here," Rui giggles into his mic as he jumps multiple times, practically glowing as Tsukasa holds up the wooden pickaxe he just finished making, raising a brow at the other.

"Um, alright…" He responds skeptically, walking over to Rui crouched at him multiple times, Tsukasa copying him in confusion.

Mizuki doesn't hear anything from the two for a few moments as they tear down the walls of some poor villager's house, roaming their eyes over at their other monitor to see Rui whispering something to Tsukasa, who listens attentively to his words.

Suddenly, Tsukasa's face blooms a bright red, covering his face with a hand and batting Rui away, the taller laughing loudly with pink dusting his cheeks. Mizuki could only raise a brow, left to wonder at whatever they were saying.

"Cheesy…" Tsukasa mutters into the microphone, ears red as he bores his eyes into Rui and his melodic laughter, obviously enamoured.

Mizuki only rolls their eyes, a smile tugging on their lips as they continue to explore the village, scanning through the chat in amusement.

"Chat, what do you guys think they were talking about?" They whispered as they muted their mic.

They only hum in agreement to the messages, putting on a pair of iron pants and equipping an iron axe in their hands. They unmute themselves and turn towards where they last saw the two men, sprinting over casually.

Rui and Tsukasa were mindlessly walking around together, talking about… Llamas, or something.

Apparently, Rui had taken it upon himself to make a tiny house— if your idea of a house was a hundred blocks tall and fifty blocks wide. Mizuki had no idea how he had suddenly whipped up an entire design and even started on constructing it, but if they had ever learned at least one thing from being Rui's best friend, it was this: don't ask.

Tsukasa seemed to have learned that lesson already too, judging from the way he was grinning wildly and placing flowers all over the place, mainly sunflowers, peonies, and lilacs.

And, not left unnoticed, Tsukasa kept a single peony on his offhand.

"Wonderful!" Tsukasa cheers gleefully as he places the last flower in front of the house, grinning widely. He greets Mizuki wildly as he walks over towards them to admire his work, looking over at Rui who sat at the top of the pillars, placing a few blocks.

"What's that in your hand, Tsukasa?" Mizuki decides to ask, watching in amusement as Tsukasa flushes again, flustered as ever.

"Well, Rui was very kind and gave me a lot of flowers that he collected from around the place!" Tsukasa boasts loudly, smiling fondly at the peony in his inventory. "He was… intentionally collecting lilacs, sunflowers and poppies, too. And— and tulips."

He squirms under Mizuki's gaze, who only stares at him with their lips twitching upwards, seemingly understanding now what had happened earlier. They hide a giggle behind their hand as they nod at him.

"Mhm, and I'm guessing he told you about their meaning, huh?" They grin widely, Tsukasa's eyes widening.

"Oh, Mizuki, you know the meanings too?" He asks, tilting his head to the side, replacing the poppy in his offhand for an orange tulip, which did not go unnoticed by Mizuki— but they didn't point it out.

"Yeah, of course. Rui loved to babble on about plants. It was to the point their meanings are practically ingrained in my brain." Mizuki laughs heartily, deciding to walk over closer to the mansion with Tsukasa following in tow behind them. "He's a big romantic, surprisingly or not. Completely hopeless though, if our conversations at 3 am mean anything."

Their words catch Tsukasa's attention, who had wandered off with a call into the woods at random, suddenly turning towards his other monitor to look at Mizuki's own camera.

"Oh, does Rui like anybody?!" Tsukasa gasps, turning back to run to Mizuki and bombard them with questions. "Rui never told me he fancied anybody..!"

"Eh, Tsukasa-kun is so interested in my love life." Rui chuckles and completely ignores Mizuki's side comment— if you even have a love life at all, and turns his attention to Tsukasa, who he could barely see was jumping up and down from where he was building from. "Currently, I don't fancy anybody. Though when I did gain crushes, I always told them first."

The last line sends a wave of unfamiliar emotions over Tsukasa— actually, who was he kidding? This isn't the first time he's felt jealousy, but he quickly sweeps it under the rug for the next time he decides to have a 4 am epiphany.

"Really? Can you tell me some of your old crushes?!" Tsukasa presses again, a teasing lilt in his voice as Rui only laughs, resting his head on a propped up hand.

"Alright, I can't refuse you, you know?" He smiles fondly, before humming in thought. "Ah, let's see… My most recent crush was around a year or two ago, in a coffee shop…"

Mizuki takes this chance to deafen themselves, watching from the corner of their eye the two who were conversing with cheer and turning to chat, letting out an exasperated sigh.

"We all know there's no way Rui is telling the truth, right?"

"Ahh, may whatever being is above guide me so I can survive the rest of this stream…" Mizuki huffs in amusement, smiling. They decide to stay on mute for a little longer to respond to the chat, though they did undeafen so they could listen in on their conversation.

"How long have they been like this… pfft, since high school, and it's tiring. I often have to third wheel on their "dates"~" They sigh, eyeing the two as they walk around in the world, wandering off to finally make progress and to find sheep for wool. "I don't mind it too much, but my poor Saki might just burst a vein if she has to see them flirt again…"

They find a field in the middle of the forest with a lot of sheep, so they immediately get to work in cutting them down to get their materials. In the process, they answer a few more questions, such as how the stream is going and the few donations they receive once in a while.

"Oh yeah, they're totally going to place their beds together." They roll their eyes, laughing loudly. "Ah, you'd think they're still high schoolers with how cheesy they are, but no. They're fully grown adults who still pine for one another…"

Mizuki takes out a crafting table and makes 3 beds, and with a bit of pondering, decides to colour coordinate them for fun. Pink for them, and yellow and purple for the two men respectively.

"Actually, I wonder what they're doing now— thank you for the donation, I haven't been hearing much from them." At that cue, they turn their eyes towards Rui's camera, and he looks… strangely focused on something. Tsukasa as well.

They raise a brow before sighing in amusement.

"Let's see what they're up to. We'll need to sleep soon enough, anyways." They turned their eyes to the sun, and while Mizuki did ask a friend to help them set something up beforehand to make the daylight cycle slower, the sun still seemed to set pretty fast.

So, Mizuki trekked back to the mansion in progress, keeping an eye on chat and the two who were still intensely focused on whatever they were doing— which didn't help with their curiosity. So obviously, they just had to pick up the pace, practically speeding through the densely packed trees.

It took about four minutes or so, because really, they hadn't expected to have wandered out so far, but they finally saw the towering mansion. Which, apparently, was half finished already. Somehow, someway.

The real kicker however, was when they finally reached the clearing.

There was Rui and Tsukasa. Having.. a fist fight.

It took everything for Mizuki not to burst out laughing. Because seriously, this was the activity they were so focused on?

They quickly unmuted their microphone, leaning into it with a wide grin. "I bet Tsukasa wins!"

Out of the corner of their eye, they see the two flinch suddenly at the sound of their voice, whipping their heads towards the sound of Mizuki laughing, momentarily stopping their fighting.

"Mizuki! I forgot you were there!" Tsukasa shouts loudly, running towards them and leaving behind a stunned Rui, who quickly pouted and followed him towards them. "Sorry, we got so distracted!"

Mizuki only smiles, wiping a tear from their eye as they wheeze slightly.

"It's fine, dude! I just came back here because I was curious about why you two were so focused on whatever you were doing." They tilt their head at the two, looking at them curiously. "Though, seeing you two having a fist fight.. didn't explain much."

Tsukasa puts a hand under his chin, nodding. Rui only smiles as he spins his chair towards the other man, laying his head on top of his shoulders.

"Should I explain what happened, Tsukasa-kun?" He giggles, leaning closer towards him so his voice could be picked up by the microphone, watching as Tsukasa's cheeks heat up slightly, and ignoring the disgusted look on Mizuki's face.

"Fine, It was your fault that we ended up fighting anyway." The blond huffing and looking away, Rui only pouting for a few moments before immediately breaking into an amused smile.

"Alright, alright," He turns towards Mizuki who was looking at him expectantly.

"I decided to take a little~ break in building the house, and I got the great idea to lure in a stray creeper I saw from somewhere in the forest," Rui smiles mischievously, and Mizuki takes the moment to look of the side, and sees a very distinct crater they hadn't noticed before. "Obviously, our dear Tsukasa-kun wasn't particularly happy about this~ So… a stray hit turned into five… and turned into a messy fist fight, fufu."

Mizuki raises a brow at the two before sighing loudly, lips twitching in exasperation as they hit Rui in retaliation, the taller man only letting out a cry of offence.

"Ugh, it sounds exactly like something you'd do, Rui…" They blow a raspberry, Rui rolling back towards his own station to hit Mizuki again.

"And here I was thinking you loved me…" He sighs loudly, Mizuki only sticking out their tongue childishly as they begin their own fist fight. Somewhere between their conversation, Tsukasa had sprung back to life and had come back to them fighting, and frantically tried to stop them.

"It's going to be nightfall, we need to sleep..!" He called out to the two, trying to no avail to stop them. Fortunately, the mention of night catches Mizuki's attention, and they pull out the sword they had gotten from the villages and attack Rui with it so they could focus on Tsukasa, ignoring the blond boy's gasp.

"Right, I forgot! I made some beds for us too!" Mizuki decides to spare Rui's life for a moment to hand him the bed, The purple haired man whining dramatically in the background as they hand Tsukasa his bed. "I'll find a place somewhere in the mansion to place my bed."

Tsukasa nods with a smile as he watches Mizuki run over towards the mansion, not noticing Rui who had creeped up behind him with his chair, a mischievous smile on his face. After a few moments, he places his hands on his shoulders and whispers boo, directly into the actor's ears, causing Tsukasa to freeze up and let out an ear-piercing shout, before quickly muffling himself.

"Rui! Don't sneak up like that, you scared me!" He huffs, cheeks pink as he turns his head towards the taller man, who had taken upon himself to slot beside Tsukasa and wrap his arms around him, resting his face on the crook of his neck with a warm smile on his face.

"Sorry, Tsukasa-kun~ I just wanted to suggest something, is all." The director grins brightly, and Tsukasa can't ever seem to ignore such a face when it was directed towards him. So instead, he sighs, and tilts his head as a signal for the other to go ahead and continue.

"Do you want to sleep together, Tsukasa-kun?"

…

"WHAT?!" Tsukasa and Mizuki shout together at the same time, Tsukasa's face turning a bright red as the two men turn towards Mizuki, who's eyes had widened and jaw had gone slack. They were positively stunned— looking back and forth between the two men.

Rui, who sat confused for a few moments, suddenly flushed too, eyes widening as he realised his words, whipping his head to the side and looking anywhere except Tsukasa and the monitor.

"I forgot you were there, Mizuki… Tsukasa-kun, don't misunderstand, by sleeping together I meant—" He coughed loudly, letting go of Tsukasa to raise a hand to his face. "Putting our beds together, is all. Fufu, I must not have gotten enough sleep, it seems…"

Somehow, Mizuki looks even more disgusted than before, digging their eyes towards Rui as if silently asking, Seriously? Could you get any more obvious?

Tsukasa only huffs in exasperation, however, smiling at Rui before pulling the taller one towards him to wrap his arms around Tsukasa again. This time, however, he lowered a hand down Rui's and interlaced them together, keeping a firm grip on them.

"Alright, alright. We can do that." He nods, though he can't seem to tear his eyes away from the red dusting Rui's cheeks and the way his wide eyes were trained on their hands. "Don't you need to go back to your monitor and place the bed with me, though?"

Rui's eyes soften before he leans towards Tsukasa, placing his head back on his shoulder and humming, flicking his eyes back up to Tsukasa's own.

"Just check your hotbar, It's already there." Rui smiles, as if expecting the question. "I gave it to you when you were distracted."

"...Ah, okay," Tsukasa nods in understanding, Shifting his position slightly to make Rui more comfortable, untangling his fingers from the other's own (not without mourning the loss of warmth) and began to walk around in game towards the mansion.

As he continued to walk around to find a place to place their beds, Rui got much closer to him. He has his arms wrapped around Tsukasa's waist, face pressed into his hair as he practically melts against him, not that Tsukasa minds his extra weight.

Once he found a place to put their beds in, he quickly places them together with a bright smile, looking up towards Rui who had cracked an eye open to look at the beds, smiling in amusement.

"Thank you for entertaining my whims as always, Tsukasa," Rui breathes, and his close proximity makes his words so much more clearer to Tsukasa. "How could I ever pay you back?"

The actor only hums, as if he was genuinely considering it, the only sounds in the room being Mizuki's small chatter (Tsukasa suspects she's deliberately ignoring them at that point) and the clacking of the keys as he Tsukasa walks around the world.

"Well…"

Rui gasps in surprise as he's suddenly pulled down by Tsukasa, now barely inches apart from the other man. They were close to the point their breaths mingled with each other's, and Rui could feel his face burn up for the nth time that day, once again.

They're locked into a momentary staring contest before Tsukasa suddenly leans in, pressing his lips against Rui's almost shamelessly, with Rui scrambling to find purchase on something and ending up gripping Tsukasa's hands which were dug into the front of his sweater, clenching tightly.

It was almost dizzying, maddening— in the heat of the moment Rui almost wanted to lean in further, but the thread of rationality that hung in his mind reminded him that they were still in the stream, and it really wasn't the appropriate time. Yet for a moment he lets himself get lost, letting Tsukasa take the lead.

They kiss for probably no longer than a moment, but it feels much longer than that. He says that, and yet, Rui is still disappointed when Tsukasa leans away, cheeks flushed scarlet red and a blinding grin on his face.

"Consider your debt paid, then."

"Oh my god…" Mizuki laughs in shock, having checked on them for a few moments during their momentary kiss. They looked dumbfounded, blinking in rapid succession. "Uhm, that's new, are you guys together now...?"

Tsukasa blinks before shaking his head and waving his arms frantically, cheeks turning red as he tries to find his words— with Rui not helping at all, still in a daze.

"A-ah, no, we aren't together! This is a fairly new development!" He chuckles nervously, scratching the back of his head. "I mean, this really all just started from Rui giving me a peck on the lips yesterday… And we— we talked about it, and we both agreed it was still fairly normal to do that without.. being together, or anything. We're just really close friends, you know."

Mizuki's eye twitches, but they take a deep breath and let it out, placing a hand on their forehead.

"...You do you, Tsukasa and Rui, but like… seriously… Just friends?" They sigh in exasperation tilting their head sideways. "We really have lost the plot…"

They turn back towards the game, eyeing the now setting sun. They turn back to the two men before sighing.

"Come on, Let's just go to sleep so we can keep the stream going. We haven't even reached the Nether yet!" They smile, walking over to their own bed and clicking on it, watching as Rui hesitantly untangles himself from Tsukasa and goes back to his own game, walking towards their beds which were right by each other.

After a few moments, the night quickly turns into the day, and the three were quickly forced out of their beds. Almost immediately, Mizuki runs towards the village they went to before, saying something about mining and getting to the nether.

Rui turns to Tsukasa before smiling.

"You should go after them, I've been delaying you for long enough anyways," Rui drops a few pieces of meat into Tsukasa's inventory as a courtesy, just in case the other went hungry. "I'll finish this and catch up, no worries."

"But what if you die?" Tsukasa fusses, wanting to go but also worrying for the other. Rui only sighs fondly and quickly assures him that he's already set his spawn point here, so there was no need to worry about him possibly being lost. He still seems reluctant, but he goes after Mizuki anyways, telling Rui to take care and leaving him to his own devices.

With Mizuki, they dug straight down despite complaints from the chat. They only waved them off, telling them that this was their secret key to finding caves with many materials. And they were right after all, when they fell into a cave and found themselves surrounded by many ores, puffing their chest out and sticking their tongue out at the chat.

"Told you, I'm lucky!" They giggle, pulling out their pickaxe and getting to work in mining a few ores, making sure to get cobblestone for building blocks and to make the furnace. They quickly toss in the iron they had collected, before running off to the other ends of the caves in search for anything else.

Mizuki spends a good few minutes looking around, collecting ores here and there and even being lucky enough to find diamonds, but there was no sign of any lava yet.

So instead, they go back to their furnace and collect the iron while mindlessly conversing with chat, while also bantering with Rui and Tsukasa. Though it was usually the former, Tsukasa simply complained about trying to find Mizuki, and them giving no hints as to where they could be.

"No, chat, just because he's your favourite guy ever doesn't mean you can give him hints!" They giggle, Tsukasa only groaning in frustration as he walks around in circles, most likely.

"Mm.. I must be missing something! I will check this place again!"

Well, is what he would have said, but he was cut off halfway through as he stumbles into a hole in the ground, and with no way to stop his fall, he ends up crashing into the floor and dying... right in front of Mizuki.

"Oh, wow," Mizuki blinks dumbfoundedly before going over to collect his things so they couldn't despawn. Tsukasa slumps in defeat as he was spawned back in the mansion, huffing indignantly.

"Ugh, I just found you!" He complains, glaring at Rui when he giggles, muffled slightly by his hand.

"Sorry~ perhaps I should have been the one to worry on if Tsukasa-kun would die or not?" He teases, placing a few torches on the floor of the mansion to light up the place, in order to prevent any monsters from spawning and killing them.

Tsukasa's ears flush red, but he only turns away huffing, mumbling something under his breath as Rui laughs again, walking over to him in game to hand him a few items he had collected… somewhere.

"Oh, I just noticed, have you finished the mansion already?!" Tsukasa asks in surprise as he places a sunflower on his offhand after mumbling a thanks to Rui, who had only smiled at his words. "Seriously, I have no idea how you'd finish it this quickly…"

Rui shrugs, continuing to place torches all over the floor as he eyes the notification of Mizuki having picked up lava.

"A magician never reveals his secrets, dear star," He smiles. Tsukasa only raises a brow but lets it go anyways, simply accepting his answer and going off to find Mizuki now that he had an idea of where they were.

"Don't fall and die again, Tsukasa-kun~" He laughs as Tsukasa grumbles in response but still takes his word for it, carefully looking at the ground before him as he heads back to where he last remembered he was before falling down.

After a few minutes of searching and bargaining to Mizuki for information to no avail, he finally sees the one block hole that Mizuki had dug and had shouted so loud that it was certain the neighbourhood had heard him.

"Agh, my ears!" Mizuki whines as they momentarily pause in collecting lava to complain, glaring at Tsukasa with no heat behind it. The blond at least had the decency to look a little embarrassed, covering his mouth with a little thumbs up.

They just huff in amusement before turning back to what they were doing, Tsukasa following in suit as he digs down just enough so he wouldnt die when jumping, and lands into the cave with only a few hearts lost.

He chats a bit with Rui about how the mansion is going, since Rui decided on a whim to decorate it. Apparently he'd need more materials, so he'd be joining Mizuki and Tsukasa in a few minutes— if Tsukasa finds Mizuki, that is.

Thankfully, he does indeed find them when a source of light catches his attention, seeing Mizuki collect the last bucket of lava before crouching, turning towards Tsukasa with a smile on their face.

"Hey Tsukasa!" They grin, before running past him back to where they came from, Tsukasa being startled for a few moments before rushing up to them, huffing loudly at being left behind.

Mizuki throws in a few gold and iron into separate furnaces, instructing Tsukasa to go mine somewhere so he could actually get some materials other than the flowers and the lone stone pickaxe he had in his storage. While he does complain for a few moments because of how repetitive the task was, he still goes off to find ores, determined to find diamonds when he learns of them.

Now that Mizuki is left to their own devices, they whisper to Rui to bring a bucket of water (they know damn well he has a bucket with him, somehow) before excusing themselves to go to the washroom.

They check the time on the wall, noting that they had an hour or two before it would be time for Tsukasa to get his beauty sleep, so they quickly rush back to the room after filling up their bottle of water again.

"What do you guys say about beating the ender dragon in an hour?" Mizuki asks the moment they get the headset back on. Tsukasa and Rui both turn towards them, Rui grinning and Tsukasa tilting his head.

"Hmm… Sure! Although, I'm not very familiar with how we're supposed to 'beat the ender dragon'?"

"I'm sure Rui can guide you! I've got something special planned, hehe~" Mizuki winks, a mischievous grin on their face as Tsukasa eyes them suspiciously, before turning to Rui, who only nods in agreement. So, he just shrugs and agrees.

"Great! I'll be on mute, but just say my name and I'll be there!" They say cheerfully before muting themselves, quickly running off into the distance, so the two men couldn't find out what they were doing.

Mizuki glances over at chat and sees their questions, and they only smile and tell them to wait for a moment, and that they'd explain everything once they gathered everything they needed.

So begins their 30 minute trek in finding the materials they needed— some flowers, a bit of moss and cherry blossoms, a lot of wood, and some random items they thought were interesting. The chat, over time, had started speculating on what they were doing. A few had already guessed correctly, but Mizuki still didn't respond to any questions about what they were doing, only responding to some unrelated questions.

In that time frame, Rui had apparently gotten Tsukasa and entire set of diamond armour somehow, though not without dying multiple times in the process, if the messages of Rui dying in the chat weren't obvious enough. They even had to take the bed from the mansion down from how tedious it was, though they also brought down Tsukasa's bed or else "Rui would feel too lonely"

Ah, couples.

Either way, they were progressing slower than expected, but it's probably because Rui would rather have Tsukasa fully protected before sending him off into the nether… Knowing him, he'd also somehow get fire resistance potions from god knows where. Mizuki wasn't going to ask.

Soon enough, they had gathered all of the materials, and they ran back to the mansion. Thankfully, someone in the chat had written down the coordinates in the split second that Mizuki had pressed F3— which is a little strange, but it was thanks to them they got back, so it's not like they were going to complain.

"Alright, alright, I'll start answering your questions now, promise." Mizuki laughs, finding a clearing near the mansion just a few blocks away. It was beautiful, with all of the flowers scattered throughout it. The perfect place to set up the date, Mizuki muses.

"I know you're all curious: what am I doing? Well, I'm setting up a date for those two lovebirds," Mizuki smiles at all the people who cheered in chat at guessing correctly, while some pressed more questions towards them. "It was actually my girlfriend's idea. Saki thought that maybe this is what would push them to actually confess. Of course… that's unlikely, but it's still a nice gesture, no?"

Mizuki gets to work on building the area for their date. It was a little cliche and simple, but Saki loved the design when they were looking for ideas, so how could they ever refuse her? It was very cute, too, so they didn't have many complaints.

It was like a gazebo, with two chairs and a table in the middle. Lanterns were hung up from the ceiling to give it light, Cherry blossom leaves and spore blossoms littering the roof to give the place a more romantic feel to it. Leaves covered the edges of the gazebo, and Mizuki used their spare buckets to surround it with water, making a tiny bridge for them to cross when going over to the gazebo.

While making it, They also received some suggestions from the chat, adding and removing a few things from the design as they pleased, and they decided the end product was the best they could do, and it was perfect.

"Ah, the things I do for my friends who are hopelessly pining for each other…" Mizuki pouts, but smiles right after as they screenshot their work, and makes a note to show it to Saki after the stream.

After a few minutes as they wander back to the mansion, they receive the notification of the dragon being defeated, even if they had no need for it when Mizuki had Tsukasa, who let out a loud shriek of joy and lept at Rui, who was laughing along with him.

They decide to unmute and congratulate them, only to be cut off by Tsukasa kissing Rui again for a few moments before continuing to celebrate, leaving Rui stunned.

Oh man, this was getting very tiring already.

"Okay, ignoring that… Congrats on beating the ender dragon, you two!" Mizuki cheers as Tsukasa laughs boisterously, thanking them for the congratulations. Rui only nods as well, cracking a smile as Mizuki chatter for a few minutes on how the battle went down.

"Rui did all of the work, though. I mean, I almost died when I fell into the lava the exact moment the potion wore off, but Rui came in time to splash the potion on us!" Tsukasa sighs, clearly embarrassed at having messed up multiple times during their attempt in beating the ender dragon. "Though, I still had a lot of fun!"

"I'm glad, then!" They grin widely. "It's not over yet, though. I have one last surprise for you two!"

"Hm?" The two pipe up in unison, Tsukasa removing himself from Rui's side and sliding back to his monitor, looking at Mizuki curiously. "Can I ask what it is?"

Mizuki shakes their head, covering their mouth with a finger. Tsukasa clicks his tongue but ultimately surrenders, instead skipping through the end credits and spawning back at his last spawn point so he could go to Mizuki and find out what the surprise was.

Rui followed in tow, returning back to the overworld just a few seconds after, making sure to collect their items as they race back to the mansion, bickering with Mizuki as they try to peel even a bit of information from them.

"C'mon, be patient you two!" They sigh loudly, though with the way their lips quirked up, they were clearly enjoying the two's desperation to know. "I see you two already, see?"

The first thing Tsukasa does is land a hit on Mizuki, who obviously takes this in offence and punches him in the back. They stop quickly when Rui arrives and starts bombarding them with questions, with Tsukasa remembering what he was meant to do and asking them questions as well.

"Alright, alright! Follow me!" Mizuki grins as they run off, followed by the two men who quickly chase after them into the forest. It takes about a minute of running before they get to their target destination, the clearing.

Mizuki stops right in front of the clearing, Tsukasa and Rui following in suit as they stop to see the gazebo they had made. Tsukasa particularly was amazed by it, eyes widening before melting into a wide grin, asking Mizuki questions about the place and gushing about how cute it looked. Rui simply complimented Mizuki on their work, nodding along to Tsukasa's words of praise as he walked along the sides of the clearing, admiring their work.

"Come on, lovebirds, this is a date to end off the stream!" They punch the two forward onto the bridge they had made, giggling like a maniac as they hid a smile behind their hand. Tsukasa quickly complied while Rui processed it for a few moments before sighing, deciding to go along with it.

"Rui, I'd love to have this date with you!" Tsukasa grins brightly at Rui, who smiles fondly at the scene.

"I'd love to be your date too, Tsukasa-kun."

Mizuki temporarily mutes their microphone for a moment as the two men walk towards the gazebo, Tsukasa gushing about everything still and Rui attentively listening to him, like the lovestruck fool that he is.

"Honestly, I don't really want to be a third wheel in whatever they are anymore, But I just have to catch this live. Video recordings don't have the magic of catching whatever this is in real time." They giggle as they cross the bridge and stand at the side of the gazebo, doing their best not to disturb the two— though they were already so lost in their own world that Mizuki doubts they even needed to be discreet. "And sharing the pain only makes it much more amusing, hehe."

To fully immerse themselves into the the role, Mizuki toggles off the skin they've had on since the beginning of the stream, revealing the skin of them, except in a butler's outfit. They'd practically begged Ena to accept their money and to make them a skin, and Ena, with all their fussing, made the skin anyway and didn't accept payment until Mizuki had practically shoved it to them.

They waited until the two had situated themselves at the table to bring out the food they had prepared. Which really was just steak and a large cake they placed on the table.

Of course… They were ignored. Well, Tsukasa thanked them, but seriously, Rui was way too far gone. As if the only thing in the world were them and them alone.

Tsukasa turns back to Rui with a smile. In real life, he holds out a hand for Rui to hold, and Rui gratefully accepts it with a fond grin as well, lacing them together and squeezing it tightly.

"I know I've said it s lot, but I'm amazed by how quickly they set this up." Tsukasa comments, looking around at the gazebo in a wonder that didn't seem to fade away with time. Rui hums in agreement, nodding along to his words, and yet stares at nothing but Tsukasa from the monitor, not having the confidence to look at him directly.

"It's beautiful Isn't it?" Rui murmurs, Tsukasa perking up at his words with a blinding smile.

"I know, right? The ambience is lovely—"

"Yet it seems so much more beautiful when you're here, Tsukasa-kun."

He's stunned into silence, face blooming into a bright red as he looks at the other in shock. Rui looks so genuine in saying it, like he didn't even mean for the words to come out. He only stares at Tsukasa with a smile so fond it could shake the world. It takes a few seconds of Tsukasa being silent for Rui to frown and process his words, before he too flushed, eyes widening and looking away from the monitor.

"S‐sorry. Don't mind my words, Tsukasa." Rui murmurs, flicking his eyes towards the screen.

He attempts to pull his hands away from Tsukasa's hold, afraid he'd suddenly made things awkward, but Tsukasa does the opposite. He tightens his hold, and squeezes it thrice, smiling at him with the same fondness that Rui looked at him with.

"No, no, thank you for the compliment, Rui!" He laughs, cheeks still dusted with a light pink as he looks back at the screen, which showed Rui's own character right across from him.

"Nothing can ever seem quite right without you with me."

Rui looks at him with wide eyes. He huffs fondly right after, letting out a hearty laugh as well, as if all the tension in his body had left. He squeezes their hands together again, feeling his heart soar at the idea Tsukasa thought the same as him.

"Tsukasa-kun, I…" He muttered, the words caught in his throat as he tried to swallow them down, flicking his eyes over to Tsukasa, who still smiled at him so gently, like he was deserving of such a loving gaze.

He likes me too, I know it deep in my heart.

And yet, why am I still so afraid?

Rui shakes his head, sending a shaky smile to Tsukasa, who's brows had furrowed when Rui had suddenly grown sombre in his silence.

"You know I love you, right?"

Tsukasa only tilts his head, as if he was stating the obvious, yet he only nodded, smiling at him.

"Of course! I love you too, after all."

Then he leans in and holds Rui's chin, pressing a chaste kiss on his forehead, looking at him still with an unwavering adoration.

Ah, Rui smiles despite the ache in his heart as Mizuki calls out to them saying the stream would be ending soon, all of them cheering and answering the last few questions before ending the stream, waving goodbye at the viewers. Mizuki leaves the call saying they had to do something else, and Tsukasa wishes them a good night.

Rui nods as Tsukasa gets up to get a glass of water and goes to the washroom, only letting out a faint grin as the other walks out, leaving him in the room unbelievably tired.

It could have never been anything more than just a friendship.

Rui hadn't even known he had fallen in love with Tsukasa in the beginning.

It was simple, at first. Tsukasa was the boy who had held out his hand towards him that fateful day on the rooftop, asking him to be in his troupe. While the blond hadn't known it, he had given Rui a chance to reach out to his dreams once more. What was once a silly dream that he had no chances of reaching had turned into something real— and it was all because of an innocuous question he had asked that day. Tsukasa had been the first ray of hope he had in years, the first star in the night sky that finally showed him a path into the future. A future where he could be proud of his works once more.

At first, Tsukasa had just been a boy with a bright and friendly smile, one that could rival the sun on a summer day. He had been just a boy with a heart too big for his body, a boy who was so utterly kind to everybody he came across, even if it was a little overbearing.

Before, he was just Rui's friend— one who tackled each challenge Rui threw at him with a fiery passion and a confident smile, like nothing could happen as he tested out each invention Rui had been working on. He placed so much trust into Rui, one that he was sure he didn't deserve, and would always dive headfirst into every new idea he had.

It was strange, to have somebody place so much trust in him. Rui never had anybody place their trust in him like Tsukasa had, as if he was so sure that Rui couldn't hurt him. And he was right, Rui could never hurt Tsukasa, but it didn't make it any more strange to have someone have so much faith in his capabilities. Not when nobody other than Nene had before.

Seeing the utter faith Tsukasa held for him made him realize how desperately he'd wanted somebody like that in his life. A person who'd stay firmly by his side throughout every step of the way, through each mistake and success. Rui wanted Tsukasa to be that person. The one to hold him through thick and thin, to laugh and to cry with him.

It's how he ended up falling for Tsukasa.

If he thought of it a little deeper (Which he has, on multiple occasions), he would say falling for him had been easy. Too easy, in fact. It was as if this was just a natural cycle of life, a profound truth that couldn't be shaken. As if Rui was destined to fall in love with Tsukasa right from the start.

The roots of his love had seeped in since long ago— Rui didn't even know when he had begun to fall for Tsukasa.

Perhaps it was after a few days that their Troupe had disbanded. Rui had never felt so low until then— and he himself was somebody who had experienced the lowest of lows. Yet he simply couldn't let go of the heavy rock that settled in his chest after their argument. How could he, when the first time he'd finally felt a flicker of hope light in his chest after years had been snuffed out in a matter of weeks, just like that? How could he, when he found himself watching as the only ray of hope he's had is suddenly ripped away from him, leaving him trapped in the same darkness he's lived in his whole life, which he thought he'd escaped from?

And yet, Tsukasa came back. He, along with Nene and Emu worked together to get him back into the troupe, tirelessly doing their best to win him over again. It was the first time Rui had ever seen anybody actually try to win his forgiveness, to actually reflect on their mistakes and earn his trust again.

Tsukasa had even knelt on stage and reached a hand out to him, like that day on the rooftop. He asked for Rui to return to the troupe— to him, with nothing but sincerity and regret glimmering in his eyes. Itnwas so genuine, and Rui could almost feel the raw emotions touch his heart. Because this was the boy who chose him personally to be part of his troupe, despite there being so many other, better choices for someone who was as bright and talented as Tsukasa. And yet, he chose him.

Or, perhaps he had fallen when Tsukasa had confronted him about holding back on his ideas when Rui had inevitably hurt him with one of his inventions. Tsukasa looked hurt at the fact Rui was being so precautious, even though he himself had thought of it as necessary— because intentionally or not, he let Tsukasa get hurt. And for Rui, it was his biggest failure as his director.

Yet, even when the star had gotten injured, he continued to state that it wasn't his fault. Even though Rui was sure he had failed and strived to keep everybody safe, Tsukasa confidently stated his trust in Rui, telling him to stop holding back because he could handle it. All he wanted was for Rui to show to the world all the inventions and ideas he makes, without the fear of hurting anybody. And even if Rui could still feel the lingering fear that was settled in his heart, he knew that if Tsukasa put all his faith into him, then he would return that trust as well.

Maybe it was when Tsukasa would come over a few times a week, hands filled with snacks and drinks bought from a convenience store nearby as he cheerfully calls out Rui's name, always stopping by when Rui had been too deep into his work to notice that he'd skipped some meals, like it was a sixth sense he had.

Whether it was good days or bad, he would always drag Rui from his work and binge watch any movies that they had on the dvd, even when they'd watched it a hundred times before. He always seemed to know when Rui needed company, needed an escape from everything around him, and Tsukasa would open his arms wide open and hold him steady, a bright smile on his face as no words had to be exchanged except the knowing feeling in their guts.

Perhaps it was when they were alone together in a room during their trip to Kyoto, after having been scolded by a teacher and forced to write an apology letter for being so noisy so late into the night. Rui couldn't help but recall the events of those past few days, which had devolved into a heart to heart with Tsukasa. He admitted to the fact that Tsukasa had been the one to let him change, who gave him a second shot at life— he was where Rui's life truly began.

Yet, Tsukasa also helped him realize that he was also the reason for that change. Rui had taken the initiative, and Tsukasa was the one which helped him propel it forward. It was thanks to him and the people who shared the happiest moments of his life that helped him finally understand the feeling of joy and happiness that lingered in his chest.

Though, truly, it had been Tsukasa who brought endless smiles to his face. The smiles which helped him form irreplaceable relationships and bonds. It was his bright smile and encouragement that let him be who he was now. Without him, Rui would still be a child stuck into the confines of his rooms with just his robots and one-man shows to his name.

Well, perhaps Rui had begun to truly fall during the time when Tsukasa had poured everything into his performance as Rio. Once more he had shown his utter devotion when it came to performing, making sure to give it his all and perfecting his acting, even if it meant working himself to the bone just so he could do his role justice. Of course, Rui had gotten worried. He had faith, but it still didn't stop him from fretting over Tsukasa. It was all for naught, though, because as always, Tsukasa performed spectacularly. The rawness in his voice as Tsukasa's feelings could reach out into the audience, and Rui had felt his heart clench at the cries Rio had let out. He was passionate, hard headed, and Tsukasa was someone who gave his all into every performance— that had just been one example of it.

No matter when or why Rui had fallen, He knew that loving somebody such as Tsukasa was only inevitable. And Rui was only a man, a man who had fallen hard for the brilliant star which was Tsukasa— and Rui was simply one of many who gravitated towards him.

Though, he was sure he began to fall harder for Tsukasa as he had gotten to see more of the boy other than his bright persona. He got to see the quiet smiles Tsukasa shared with his family and siblings, and he began to yearn for it to be directed to him as well, to see those smiles— to have a smile meant for him alone. Rui wanted to see a side of Tsukasa that only he would know about, a Tsukasa so raw and real and reserved only for him, because he yearned to be somebody special to him— not simply a friend in the sea of so many others.

Rui wanted to be able to hold Tsukasa in the privacy of his own home, to share quiet and heavy moments, to see a side of him that didn't have to be strong or confident— a side of him behind the mask he knew he wore. He wanted it so badly that it hurt.

And Rui would let his heart hurt, would let it shatter over and over again for an eternity if it meant keeping Tsukasa by his side for as long as he could. His feelings ran deep, and he loved Tsukasa more than what he could describe with only words, but he would keep his love in his heart and swallow down the words I love you down his throat if it meant Tsukasa would keep being his friend, and would keep smiling at him as if he was his whole world.

Unfortunately, Rui was a foolish, foolish mam. He was then, and he is now. Because sometimes, he would catch Tsukasa with a longing look when he thought nobody was there to pay attention. Rui would always try to see who he was looking at, but to no avail. So if he couldn't find the person who was the object of Tsukasa's affections, his foolish heart would pretend he was the one that Tsukasa looked at so longingly. That the lovesick smile he hung was due to him, and not somebody else. Either way, his heart ached knowing it wasn't him who held Tsukasa's love, so he let his heart pretend Tsukasa loved him too, wanted him like Rui did.

It only served to hurt him more. Yet Rui let himself, because pretending made it easier to cope with the pain of a heartbreak. It only becomes harder the more he sees Tsukasa don that look more and more, and Rui is stuck utterly clueless on who it could be. He'd rather know who held Tsukasa's love, than be left in the dark— because he isn't sure what would hurt more.

Sometimes, Tsukasa would speak of the boy who held his affections. He would speak of him as if he hung the moon and the stars in the sky, eyes bright with such a loving expression it made his stomach churn uncomfortably, but he smiles anyways and urges him to speak more, even teasing him a little to really sell the fact that he was fine.

It was worth it, with how Tsukasa lights up, even if it was to speak of a boy Rui didn't know, of a boy who took the heart of somebody so bright. Tsukasa speaks of him so greatly, complimenting him in his skills and his talents and even going as far as talking about how beautiful his eyes were and how his hair glowed in the sunset when they were together.

And, despite how happy Tsukasa is, he feels so bitter. It's misplaced anger, because the boy Tsukasa fell for is certainly not at fault here, and Rui mostly feels dejected still by the fact he has no chance, but he still feels a lingering bitterness on his tongue as he agrees with Tsukasa's words. He wishes he could still keep the belief that he could've had at least a little of Tsukasa's affections, but he's left with the bitter truth of never being the object of his affections.

So, like always, he lets his heart locked in his chest full of bitter love that couldn't be reciprocated, and instead forces a grin on his face.

And it's like that for a few years. Rui's love is always on the sidelines. Always there, but out of reach. He never says his feelings, respecting the fact that Tsukasa has somebody else in his sights, and instead focusing on his future career. Of course, this meant Wonderlands X Showtime disbanded, but they still kept in touch frequently (very frequently, more like, courtesy of Emu who loved to update on what happened in her life). Tsukasa also frequently messaged him, sometimes complaining of being swamped with work, before asking him to call immediately after. It was sweet, knowing even then Tsukasa still cared for him even when they all went their separate ways.

After graduation, everyone began to be very busy. There was almost no time to chat or even call, so there were only a few messages every few weeks to check up on each other, usually only responded to by one or two people. It was like that for around a year or so before they began to settle into their respective jobs, in which Nene took the initiative to plan a group meet-up on behalf of Emu, who was apparently busy at that time with Phoenix Wonderland.

So, they began to plan together when they were all available— Tsukasa was especially troublesome, with how packed his schedule was, which Rui immediately teased him for. Ultimately, they all found a day where they were all clear (Including Emu, who had sent her schedule in the group chat), and began to plan it out.

When the day of the meet up came, Rui was instantly blown away with the feelings that he had kept under wraps for years the moment he laid eyes on Tsukasa.

Tsukasa had grown much more handsome since the last time he saw him. His eyes were as bright as he remembered, and his hair had grown out to be of shoulder length. He wore a bright smile on his face as always, yet it seemed much sweeter now after not having seen it for around a year. Rui had to stop himself from cracking right then and there, and immediately cracked out a grin of his own and waved towards the approaching group.

That day must have been the happiest day of Rui's life. He had spent the whole day with his closest friends, and the man he loved the most. It was a needed break from everything that had been going on in his life at that time, and being with them had helped with forgetting everything for even a few moments. And, small as it may be, he relished the feeling of Tsukasa's hand in his as he was dragged around to buy trinkets and items from vendors.

(Tsukasa's hands were much nicer than his. Rui wonders if he minds the fact his own hands feel much more calloused and rough against Tsukasa's perfectly manicured and smooth hands.)

So, they began to talk more in the chat again. They found time in their schedules to ramble about their lives for a few minutes everyday, keeping their bonds strong even as they were physically apart. Tsukasa practically begs him to call every time he was free, Rui serving as the one to chat the groupchat whenever Tsukasa had a comment about something said in the group chat.

This lasted for a few years, with a few months of barren chats whenever they all had a project upcoming or when they were all too busy with pleasing their fans, but there was always at least two people talking about anything in the chat, and Tsukasa never failed to call Rui everyday, even if it was a two minute call in the dead of night.

When Tsukasa had moved his house closer to his, He also came over frequently. They'd eat together, with Tsukasa always reminding him to take a break, just like when they were younger. When he knew Rui had been working non-stop for days on a project just to meet his deadlines, he'd force the director to take a break and go out with him, clasping his hands tightly in his so the other couldn't run off, even when he was never planning to. And he couldn't complain— because Tsukasa would always help him out in the end, even when he knew the other boy was busy with his own work, too.

So, Rui never fails to return the favor. When he knows Tsukasa had a rough day, he goes to the grocery store to buy a tub of ice cream and goes over to the Tenma residence, usually being greeted by Saki and Toya when the door opened, only occasionally seeing Kanade, who was often in her room, and Mafuyu, who lived with Emu after they had began dating.

He would go up to Tsukasa's room, and coax the other man to eat with him, letting him talk about whatever happened and letting him relax as Rui would turn on the television just like he had and put on a show they both liked. Somehow, it would always devolve into them wrapped up in each other's arms, Tsukasa comfortably resting against Rui as he curled up against his body, and Rui would wrap a hand around his waist with the blanket thrown over their shoulders.

Most of the time, he ended up staying the night. It became a habit for them to lay down a mattress for Rui to sleep on, even though they both knew that later into the night, Rui would end up moving over to Tsukasa's bed anyways, holding the actor to his chest as they end up tangled together in their sleep, waking up to each other's breaths and limbs wrapped around each other's.

It was all disgustingly domestic, and Rui loved pretending that this could be what he woke up to everyday if Tsukasa loved him too. He could wake up to the sound of Tsukasa snoring quietly any day, to the smell of food wafting from down the stairs when Rui would wake up late and Tsukasa would wake up earlier than him. It was wishful thinking, and he almost feels bad for thinking this way of a friend who was doing this because they were just that: friends.

But… if he thought about it, were they really just friends?

He wants to hope that the lingering touches and loving smiles were something more than something friendly. He wants to hope that each kiss that Tsukasa pressed on his face was something more than an affectionate show of love, that it was more than a simple peck that would mean nothing in the end.

Rui wants, desperately, for each kiss they share meant something deeper, that this meant something more to Tsukasa than just a simple kiss. When he presses harder against him, he hopes that Tsukasa knows that Rui loves him, deeper than what he could ever know, because Rui could never steal away a star like him who's heart belonged to somebody else.

So he pours his love into each loving kiss on the cheek, and each time he kisses Tsukasa in the privacy of their own homes. Because this was the only way to tell him he loves him without words, without any chance of him knowing that Rui was irrevocably in love with him.

Rui loves Tsukasa, but he loves the smile he dons and the love they already share more.

It wasn't worth losing him for something as silly as that.

Chapter Text

Tsukasa knew that from the start, he had fallen hard for Rui.

He's not sure what exactly got him to fall first. There was always something captivating about Rui, be it his sharp, stunning golden eyes or his striking purple hair that always seemed to shine under the sun's glow. He was a talented inventor, creating multiple robots and machines, something that was certainly commendable considering they were well made and he'd been doing it by himself as a highschooler. Not only that, but he was also a talented director that brought life into his plays with his directing, and also a talented actor— which could be seen even back when he was doing his one-man shows. Rui was a person with many talents, and it could be seen if you just paid an ounce of attention to him.

There were so many factors and reasons as to why he had fallen for Rui to the point it was hard to pick out just one reason, but despite it all, there was one that stood out: Rui was someone who was unwaveringly kind, despite everything that the world had put him through.

Rui was a boy who loved talking and caring for plants back in highschool. He would tend to them like they were as fragile as glass, looking at each leaf with an attentive eye, always knowing whenever something was wrong with them. With everything he loved, he treated them with care, making sure they were cared for properly, whether it be in his gardening or for the robots which he made in the confines of his garage.

He was also somebody who would fuss about his friends. Tsukasa knew this from when Rui had gotten so worried for him when he accidentally got hurt from one of Rui's inventions. It was so bad that he had to step in to confront Rui about holding back. Because out of everything, what he wanted the least was to hold him back from reaching his full potential. He wanted Rui to trust him and understand that it was one mistake, and he trusted and knew Rui would do anything to make sure it wouldn't happen again.

There was also a time when he defended Emu from her brothers, practically grilling the two with just his glare, which were fixed solely on the brothers. It didn't matter to him much that they were the ones which held the authority to the park, only the fact they had been belittling their youngest sister, and one of his friends. There was no hesitation when he stepped in, only the protectiveness of a friend who cares deeply about others.

It was a trait Tsukasa deeply admired. He knew from over the years what had happened during Rui's middle school years, and the harsh life he'd lived, but he still loved and cared for people and the world around him like it hadn't been the same one that shunned him. Rui was undeniably a strong person, whether he agreed with it or not.

Rui was also, undeniably, skilled. He could make robots from scratch, and each one of them were made so intricately that you couldn't tell much of a difference from his works and ones made from a company specialized in making things such as that. One example was Robo-Nene, one of Rui's amazing works. He built it just for Nene to help her with her stage fright, and it was clear the girl also appreciated him a lot for it. It was made in so much detail that even when Rui explained it, Tsukasa couldn't really understand much except for the words robot, wires and something about bolts.

(Or, it might have been because they were having a sleepover and Rui's hand in his hair just felt so nice.)

There were many things about Rui that Tsukasa could gush over for hours. He was a talented director and the only one who made Tsukasa shine, The only one who could bring out his full potential. A boy who could ace each exam with barely a bat of an eye but would still help others who were struggling in different fields with nothing in return. He was a kind soul, but also a protective one— someone who cares with their whole heart to the people he loves.

And it was so admirable. How could Tsukasa not have fallen? Rui was somebody you could easily love, and Tsukasa happened to be somebody who loved people easily, too. It was true the boy was flawed and still made mistakes but he was also terribly human, and Tsukasa loved that. Rui had so many things about him that made it hard not to be drawn to him, be it the smile that was always on his lips or his striking appearance.

As love is, it grows deeper over time. What used to be passing thoughts about Rui's appearance during practice somehow develops into late night musings as Tsukasa lays in bed wide awake, head nursing thoughts of carding a hand through Rui's hair and imagining how it would feel as it slips through the cracks of his hands. What was a simple tradition between friends to hold hands has them sharing secret words through each squeeze and tap of a finger. Tsukasa finds himself thinking more of Rui over time, as if he couldn't go a day without the thought of him flickering in his mind at least once.

He finds himself wishing he could be closer to Rui, whether it be through being more physically affectionate, or being more emotionally vulnerable to one another. Tsukasa wanted to know everything about Rui, how he came to be the boy he was and for the boy to open up to him. So when he knew Rui wasn't feeling too well on some days or when he got the gut feeling that the other was overworking himself, Tsukasa would pack a hearty meal and would tell Saki he'd be back in a few hours. Then he would sprint over to Rui's house and let himself in, greeting his parents if they were there and rushing towards the garage, knowing very well the boy would be in there.

Tsukasa would drag Rui with him onto the couch, making sure to mind the robots which cluttered the floor. He would force the food onto his lap and turn on the television, to serve as a distraction. Even if Tsukasa felt like he came off as a little forceful, he could tell Rui always appreciated it whenever he came over, so Tsukasa liked to come over to his house, even when there wasn't anything wrong that day. He enjoyed Rui's company and relished the feeling of being able to hold him in his arms.

Oftentimes, Rui would return the favor the next day by showing him the invention he had been working on before Tsukasa interrupted his work. As always, his machinations were interesting, and Tsukasa always made sure to listen attentively to his explanations, inquiring every few minutes about a part he didn't understand, even if it was just to see the smile on Rui's face widen a little more.

Tsukasa also loved hearing Rui laugh. He fell a little more each time he saw him with the widest grin on his face and experienced such pure, unfiltered joy. Tsukasa could only stop and watch each time Rui let out a small chuckle or formed a small, genuine smile on his lip when they were alone and sitting on the couch, gazing at Tsukasa with a look that could only be described as loving. It made his heart skip a beat each time, because Tsukasa could almost fool himself into thinking that his love might be reciprocated.

Tsukasa adored Rui. It was to the point he sometimes let slip about it during their rehearsals, words that were formed at the back of his mind somehow forcing its way through the tip of his tongue, but he always quickly shut his mouth when he did. It worked the first few times but the moment Rui found out, he always teased him for his crush— unaware of the fact that it was Rui that he was talking about. So, given the chance to ramble about his thoughts, Tsukasa couldn't help but vent out all his feelings about Rui… to Rui. He would ramble on and on about the love he held for the boy in front of him, and he would be completely clueless, only listening to him with a teasing glint in his eye. Although, he could admit that talking about it made his chest lighter, and Tsukasa wished he could tell the other boy that it was him he spoke of so highly, but he wouldn't take his chances.

(There was… also the option of telling Emu or Nene, but Tsukasa always felt much more open and genuine about his feelings to Rui.)

Yet, every moment he spent with Rui only made keeping his feelings to himself hurt more. It was as if it physically tore him apart not to tell Rui his love for him right then and there, not being able to hold him closer not as friends but as two people who loved each other. Tsukasa wanted so badly to be able to smother Rui with the full force of his love, and not have to be satisfied with having to subdue his affections and stand on the side. He wished he could take the chance and confess, but there was always a seed of doubt in his mind that told him it's not worth the risk.

After all, at the very least, when he and Rui are friends, he could still be able to show him enough affection that could still be excused as something friendly. But if he confessed, then there was a chance Tsukasa could lose Rui and everything he had with him right then and there, and then he wouldn't have been able to shower him with all the affection in the world, and instead would be left with tense silences and awkward touches. It was something Tsukasa couldn't bear to happen, because now, Tsukasa didn't know a world without Rui in it.

So, as always, Tsukasa settled with what he had. He was content with showering Rui with the affections he held as best as he could, and even if it pained him, he squashed down his feelings and did his best to be a great friend to Rui, even if he did long for more. He was fine with having to want from afar, because he could still have him.

But every time, he's drawn closer. It doesn't matter if Tsukasa stays away from Rui or not, because he always finds his way back to him one way or another. There is not a world that Tsukasa could live where he wouldn't be by Rui's side, because he's sure life wouldn't be the same without his director. The one who truly made him shine the brightest. After all, it was so easy to be with Rui— all too easy to fall into his arms and hold him close, to hold their hearts closer together as they shared secrets meant only for each other. Rui was the start and the end, the boy who let Tsukasa into the confines of his heart and let him learn how to act for himself and not for the better of others.

Even when they had drifted off for a year or two, getting back together was as easy as pieces of a puzzle clicking together. Tsukasa found himself calling everyday just to hear Rui's voice over the phone, smiling gently over the phone as he listened to whatever the other man had to say, occasionally being able to hear rough murmurs when Rui was particularly tired that day. It was nice to know that he could still feel so close to Rui even when Tsukasa was miles away from him and their only communication was through the phone, but it still brought him a sense of comfort.

But, calling couldn't ever beat seeing Rui physically. After all, the video couldn't ever replicate the feeling of Rui's arms wrapped around his as they shared their first hug after being seperated for a while. Tsukasa always loved embracing the man, because it brought him a sense of warmth and familiarity that nothing else could replicate. It also couldn't ever replace the feeling of Rui's hands against his as Tsukasa entwines their fingers together, feeling the warmth of his skin pressed so tightly against his was a comforting feeling only he brought.

Tsukasa always liked it when Rui would pull him closer whenever he was nearby, whether it be when they're walking together or they're on the couch doing a movie marathon after an especially tiring day with a tub of ice cream. Tsukasa always relished in the feeling of the content, soaking it all up like a flower underneath the sun. Being close was so easy, so natural— like Tsukasa belongs beside Rui and vice versa. But it was a dream he held close to his heart, a secret that would never be shared lest it shatter everything he had.

He would hold Rui in his sleep like he was something he would lose if he pressed a little harder. Tsukasa could only have Rui in the moments they shared together, always his best friend and never a lover, never something more. He would pretend that Rui would want him to, as he watched golden eyes flutter open in the morning to look at him with a sickeningly loving look. They were always entangled on the bed together, hair scattered all over the place as Tsukasa would scoot up and press a kiss that would mean everything and nothing all at once to him, a scene he'd keep locked in his heart as he yearns and wants for a love not meant for him. It was a scene he could only have as somebody considered as a friend, and in the end, Tsukasa found he could be fine with that.

Because even if their slow kisses shared in the dead of night meant nothing to Rui, it would mean everything to Tsukasa, and that was fine. He would cherish each kiss pressed to his face, and Tsukasa would pour love into each peck on the cheek and every kiss that they had. Tsukasa would cherish the love he had for Rui and would proudly show it to the world, even if he had no chance with it in the first place.

As long as he could have that charming smile in his life, the images of Rui resting in his bed with a content smile and each kiss they shared that was meant only for each other, then Tsukasa could live without Rui's love. Instead, He would hold each memory they shared gently and cherish each part of Rui he loved but couldn't have. Tsukasa would allow himself to dream but never hope, because he was content with being Rui's friend.

Tsukasa loves Rui, but that love didn't need to be reciprocated.

Because Tsukasa loves Rui, and it was the only thing that truly matters.

ruikasa clips from emunene's nail painting stream compiled because i'm going to be sick

[ ATTACHED VIDEO: Emu and Nene sat on the floor in front of a small coffee table, multiple nail polish surrounding them as Emu held up Nene's hand to paint her nails, chatting animatedly with the chat as Nene silently scans over the chat, occasionally responding to some messages with a smile. They were situated in the living room, and behind them was the kitchen island.

Suddenly, in the background, two people could be seen walking into the living room, voices that could be distinctly recognized as Rui and Tsukasa, bickering about something. Nene immediately sighs dejectedly, as if already expecting what is to come. Emu only grins wider, a complete opposite of Nene's own reaction.

"I should have known it was too much to hope for them not to show up at some point…" Nene sighs, flicking her eyes down at Emu who was carefully designing her pointer finger, laser focused on her task. Though, that doesn't mean she doesn't laugh at Nene's words, smiling up at her cheekily.

"Don't be like that Nene-chan, today is our monthly sleepover after all, and just so happened to be the same day of this stream!" Emu chirps happily, going back to focusing on her work. Nene only clicks her tongue, turning her head towards the two men who've settled into the kitchen island, with Rui who had clearly begged Tsukasa to cook something for him with how the blonde was grabbing some things from the fridge, but she doubted that Rui had to ask twice for Tsukasa to give in to his request. He loved acting annoyed with Rui's games, after all, but you'd have to be a fool to not notice that Tsukasa would immediately fold for him.

"I'd just appreciate it if they didn't have to bring their shenanigans into the stream, I get enough of it from our group chat everyday." She huffs with no true annoyance, simply acceptance laced into her tone. Emu only laughs, agreeing with her with a smile.

The video cuts to another clip later into the stream, with Emu now having moved onto Nene's other hand, coating it with dark red nail polish (In which Emu had commented that Nene reminded her of a christmas tree with the green and red combination.) This time, It's slightly zoomed to hone in on Rui and Tsukasa in the background, with Tsukasa cooking on the stove as Rui watches him from the sidelines. Its like this for a few seconds before Rui suddenly pushes himself off the counter and walks behind Tsukasa, where it can be faintly made out that he wrapped his arms around Tsukasa's waist, the blond flinching before relaxing, swatting Rui's arms. They're too far away to make out the sounds of their bickering other than the sound of their voices, but Rui seems to say something before laying his head on Tsukasa's, settling there as Tsukasa goes back to cooking.

The next part cuts to them still in the same position. This time, When Tsukasa pauses cooking for a few moments, Rui takes a hold of his left hand and raises it to his face. He stops for a few seconds before pressing a kiss to the palm of Tsukasa's hand, with Rui's ears flushing red. This time, however, Tsukasa retaliates, turning around quickly and leans forward to press a kiss onto Rui's lips before turning back around, pulling Rui's hands to wrap tighter around his waist. Rui complies, of course, but not without his entire face turning a bright shade of red, burying his face into Tsukasa's hair. Nene, meanwhile, seems to know what happened behind her, because her face immediately scrunches up knowingly. Emu only grins knowingly as well, snickering for seemingly no reason.

It cuts again to the next scene, with Nene showing her nails off to the camera with a fond smile on her face, praising Emu for her work. In the background, Tsukasa sets aside a bowl filled with what can be assumed is noodles, before grabbing a frying pan and setting it on the stove. With the ingredients from the fridge, he cracks open the egg and sprinkles salt on it before standing idly for it to settle. Rui won't make this easy, of course, with the way he latches onto Tsukasa again, after having gotten a glass of water briefly. Tsukasa, seemingly sighing, leans up again while pulling Rui down to kiss him— for the nth time. Because of how distracted they were, they completely forgot the egg on the stove and only remembered when Nene barked at them to "stop making out", with the only response being a shameless sorry from Tsukasa.

It cuts to the last clip of the video, which was a simple scene of Tsukasa watching Rui eat on the counter, occasionally feeding him when Rui dramatically cries about eating the few vegetables that could barely be seen from the camera. They also share a few sweet kisses along the way, but not without Nene clearly grimacing— and Emu giggling to herself.]
