Work Text:
I can remember it all so clearly.
How I ended up like this.
A red ribbon
So bright, so vibrant.
He said I would look pretty.
That was before I killed him.
The first of many suitors,
The last of which sealed my heart shut.
Even now, I can hear it pounding.
The sound of my own heartbeat.
I chose this solitude,
A loveless life.
But these nights remind me.
They remind me of my past.
I can't stop thinking of her
And how happy she must be,
To be with the former prince.
Now my heart pounds louder.
I can feel it aching.
She's destined for love,
Not me.
I chose this life,
Even if my heart is hurting.
It hurts so, so much.
Can't I be happy as well?
