Work Text:
The idea had been that for the first Christmas Eve since Monty died, that Felicia would invite her friends to Montague for a quiet dinner, some drinks, and perhaps a game of charades or two. All was going to plan until the weather decided to put a halt to it all. With little to no warning the snow had come down heavily, effectively cutting off Montague from Kembleford. The phone lines were thankfully still working, so Felicia had managed to call the presbytery to make sure Father Brown, Mrs McCarthy, and Bunty were safe. Which they were. But it left just herself and Sid snowed in at Montague with the roads impassable.
It was soon apparent that it was getting much colder, so Sid suggested that they get what food, drink, and blankets they could, and make camp on the sofa by the fire all night. Felicia agreed. It was a shame for all that food to go to waste and she’d already opened a couple of bottles of champagne, so they’d have to drink those themselves. Sid went with her to the kitchen and gathered everything he could and some extra blankets from the cupboards. Outside of the lounge it felt freezing cold, so they quickly went back in and closed all the doors, blocking the bottoms with a few draft excluders and closed the curtains. They sat back on the sofa and covered themselves up with blankets while they ate, drinking the champagne almost like it was water. Soon enough they’d warmed up and were both a little tipsy. Sid said they really should make the most of it as it was Christmas Eve after all, and got up to turn the radio on. He found some cheerful festive songs playing and held out his hand to Felicia, asking her to dance. She smiled and giggled, then took his hand and was pulled into a twirl and a clinch. They danced by the fire with their arms wrapped around each other until the song ended. Felicia had her hands around Sid’s neck, and his arms were around her waist. When they lifted their heads they found themselves under the mistletoe and Sid smirked saying it was traditional after all and would it be alright? Felicia smiled and nodded, just expecting him to give her a peck on the lips, but Sid wasn’t going to pass up on his chance and pressed his lips to hers, kissing her slowly and fully until his breath ran out and he had to stop for air. Felicia wobbled, but he was quick and caught her, sitting her back down on the sofa. Cheekily he asked her if that was because of all the champagne or his kiss. She blamed the drink as it took more than one passionate kiss to get her swooning like a teenager. He asked her if she’d like some more. Champagne or kisses, she questioned. Sid replied, both. Felicia smiled and nodded, but the bottles were forgotten about as Sid gently pulled Felicia into his arms and kissed her again only much deeper this time while a hand placed a cushion on the sofa arm and he laid her down. When the kisses broke, Felicia asked him if he was planning on seducing her. But Sid replied if she’d like him to. She smiled and nodded again. Blankets were pulled up around them both and they stayed there for the rest of the night. Snow and party forgotten about.
