Well, Stacey thought as she clicked buttons on the side of her hospital bed, shifting its top half upwards, at least it wasn't my diabetes this time.

Though it wouldn't surprise her if one day her sorry excuse for a pancreas tried to break itself out of her abdomen like a Xenomorph. Her body always seemed to be inventing new ways to put her in the hospital.

Claudia had never been a big fan of dentists. Looking inside of peoples' mouths for a living - even babysitting for Betsy Sobak and Jenny Prezzioso sounded less torturous!

But, she had to admit, every once in a while, dentists were okay - at least when they gave her an excuse to eat nothing but ice cream and pudding for a week.

*Hugs Sharon and Dawn*Jack ought to be counting his damn blessings! Because if I were Sharon, I would’ve told Dawn, something like this:
“It has to do, with the use of the word “adult “” as a verb, Dawn. Your Dad and I, had a serious difference of opinion of what “adult “ meant.
“For me, “adult” meant “adulting”, being a participatory parent, in your’s and Jeff’s lives;doing all of the not-so fun stuff. That goes with being a Mother and Wife, like making sure the roof, we had overhead, was a home. Providing financially, educationally, emotionally, and morally; for your upbringing-hopefully for the better. The cooking, cleaning, running errands, carpooling, and hands-on stuff, that has to be done. Day in, and day out, when you share your life, with someone and have children together.Even on the really crappy days, when you don’t feel like it. But you still have to, because there’s two children who are totally dependent upon you; and a spouse who needs you.
“And being able to recognize and to appreciate, those little moments; that make all of the sacrifices and hard work worthwhile. Even if a lot of it, is “Blink and you’ll miss it stuff.” I.E., “adulting.”” As defined by me.”
Whereas, Jeff and your father’s, use of the phrase “adult”, as a verb; was committing an act that went against a vow, that both he and I; took when we first married-to forsake all others, to love, honor, and to cherish each other. In sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, and for better and for worse. I kept my promise, to him, Dawn. But he didn’t keep his, to me.”
Sorry, if that’s harsh; and not exactly something, that a mother; should ever tell her thirteen year old daughter; in real life. But in Sharon’s case? That’s what I would have told Dawn.
