Work Text:
Pudding had fallen in love.
Her fiancé, Vinsmoke Sanji, Pudding initially thought he was a pathetic failure who deserved to die like the rest of his shitty family.
She was so sure she was going to kill him when he looked into her disgusting eye and instead… he blushed and said it was cute.
Pudding had fallen in love with Sanji, his kindness and his goodness.
She wanted so badly to have married him for real.
"Sanji-san, this cake is spectacular" she said shyly.
Our wedding cake she thought happily as she blushed.
He smiled, tugging a strand of hair behind his ear, making his golden teardrop earring jingle.
She looked at him with admiration.
"That's a nice earring, Sanji-san" she told him.
"Do you really think so? Thank you, it's a gift from my sweetheart" he said with a smile "I really care about it"
Pudding's heart broke into a thousand pieces.
"Your... sweetheart" she asked earning a sympathetic look from her sister Chiffon.
He nodded, lighting a cigarette.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you, Pudding-chan," he said, sighing "But another reason why I couldn't marry you is because I'm already married"
It was definitely that red-haired woman.
Nami, she thought was her name.
Pudding hated her.
***
It wasn't Nami.
When Pudding accompanied him to his crew on his ship, Sanji ran to their green-haired swordsman.
"Are you okay, my Marimo?" he asked worriedly, taking him into his arms and cupping his cheek with his hand.
She didn't need any further explanation, because the swordsman had two earrings that were the same and identical to Sanji's.
He was Sanji's sweetheart.
“I should be the one worried about you, shitty cook” he said, wrapping his arms around his neck and looking directly in her direction, angrily “She hasn't played any tricks on you, has she?”
"Don't be so rude to a woman, Marimo" his husband scolded him.
"I don't trust her" he told him clearly "She could have tried to kill you again"
"Do you not trust my strength?" he asked, giggling.
The swordsman gave him a cuff.
"I don't trust you when there are beautiful women around" he exclaimed in response.
“We have to get the cake to Mama!” Chiffon exclaimed, interrupting their little debate.
"Well, let's go then"
***
“So you are my cook’s 'bride'?” the swordsman asked when they were alone, remarking on the word "my".
"Jealous?" she asked, clenching her hands into fists.
He burst out laughing in her face.
"I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I have full faith in Sanji's love for me" he said "But it's quite obvious that you've suddenly become obsessed with him instead"
"He...was kind to me, even though I tried to kill him" she said, blushing slightly.
"Of course, Sanji is just like that, too kind, even to those who don't deserve it" he said coldly "Sanji behaves as if nothing had happened, but I won't do that"
"What do you mean?"
"It means that I will never forgive you for the horrible things you said about Sanji to his sister" he said looking at her angrily "Or maybe you forgot? While you were teasing and mocking him, calling him pathetic?" he hissed.
“H-how do you know?” she asked.
"Sanji heard you and told me" he said "He acts as if nothing had happened because he made a promise to someone, he is a gentleman and would never treat a woman coldly, but he will never forget what he heard"
Pudding bit her lip.
"You may be our ally at the moment, but neither I nor the rest of the crew will ever accept you as such" he continued when he realized that she wouldn't answer "You don't deserve him, whether Sanji is married to me or not, a monster like you doesn't deserve a good person like him"
Tears came out of his eyes.
A monster.
"You're not the first to call me a monster because of my third eye..." she started to say.
"This has nothing to do with your eye or even the fact that you are Big Mom's daughter" he interrupted her "No one forced you to say those horrible things about him, you hurt him so much, even though he didn't have really going to marry you, he trusted you because you seemed to be on his side, and you stabbed him in the back."
"I am sorry..."
He sighed and walked out of the cabin, leaving her alone.
Or at least she thought.
When she raised her head, she saw the cat burglar looking at her coldly.
"I'm sorry" she said "Zoro can be very hard when someone hurts his family"
"Did Sanji-san really hear all the horrible things I said about him?" she asked hesitantly.
"Yes, Zoro was next to him for a good hour to make him calm down" she said "That's why he was so angry, I'm sorry he was so hard on you" she sighed "It seems like you really fell in love with Sanji-kun"
She nodded, wiping her tears.
"I don't like you either" Nami admitted "You deceived us all and tried to kill our friend"
Pudding looked down.
"But despite this, you still have time to prove to me, Zoro and the crew that you are not a monster" she said with her back to her "So make sure you don't hurt Sanji-kun again, otherwise if Zoro decides to kill you, I won't stop him"
With that, she walked out of her, finally leaving her alone.
Pudding sighed, hugging her legs to her chest.
Sanji had friends and an amazing husband, who cared deeply about him.
The swordsman was right.
Someone like her didn't deserve someone like him.
A monster like Pudding didn't deserve a good and kind man like Sanji.
