    The world around him is solid. It makes sense. Despite the existence of aliens and literal gods in their galaxy—the science of it all makes sense. They just have yet to figure it all out.

    Then he’d been thrown into a spiral of falsehoods—one after another, all so fast, all so real—and suddenly he’s in the Netherlands. It’s too nice compared to the horrors he became used to—a far cry from the real world: a world of dead parents, dead uncles, and half of a universe, dead with the snap of one creature’s fingers.

    Where once there was certainty…now there’s fragility.

    So, when he sees Tony step out of the plane instead of Happy…he falters.

    OR: Tony appears during Far From Home. Not much changes, but some things do. At the very least, Peter gets cared for in the wake of a barrage of traumatic events.

    “It wasn’t my fault,” Tony defends. “That Spider-Guy never knows when to shut up. He distracted me.”
    “Your reputation took a blow,” Pepper tells him. “Which will be fixed, of course. I’ve already set it up.”
    “Set what up? What, am I going to make flower arrangements with the elderly?”
    Pepper slides a piece of paper towards him. “Try an orphan. His name is Peter Parker. His biggest dream is to meet you. But…” She hesitates.
    “But?”
    “Apparently he doesn’t talk much. Sometimes not at all. Trauma-related.”
    “A smart kid who doesn’t talk? Perfect combination. If only all my employees were like that.”

    Or: Between Peter Parker barely speaking, and Spider-Man being the ultimate chatterbox, how was Tony ever supposed to figure out that they were one and the same person?

    “I…I’m sorry, I don’t know if I trust this,” Sam spoke after a few moments, the group’s attention shifting towards him. “I mean, he’s a kid. Someone could’ve put this in his head.” The rest seemed to consider this, and Peter felt his face begin to blanche, his gut churning uncomfortably.

    "I have to agree with Sam on this one,” Steve said, glancing briefly at the mentioned hero before looking over the assembled group. “Our original thought on him was ex-HYDRA, correct? We know they’re capable of heavy manipulation, and I wouldn’t put it past them to use a kid.”

    "I'm not!” Peter exclaimed, eyes wide with desperation. “I swear, I…"

    Choosing his words very carefully, the teen spoke softly, "I know what you saw in the wormhole, Mr. Stark." The Avengers almost immediately snapped to attention as soon as the words left his mouth, and he saw his mentor grow visibly tense in front of him. He swallowed, breaths trembling. "And we tried to beat it, sir, we really, really did, but we ran out of moves."

    Peter met Tony's gaze.

    “Now all we have left on the board is our king."

    Peter goes back in time to try to fix the events of the snap, à la suite de Tony Stark.
