"Traitor," he said to his captor, refusing to look up. He was chained up, covered in cuts, his clothes were torn, and his hair was matted with dirt.
Tsukasa couldn't bring himself to look at his former lover, now enemy and prisoner.
"I trusted you. I thought you accepted me. I thought you cared! You meant everything to me. I thought what we had could have never been broken. It wasn't supposed to end. I guess I was wrong. We won't get our happy end. So, what kind of ending do you want?"
Tsukasa sighed and tried to look at Rui's face for one last time. He doesn't like unhappiness, especially on Rui. Smiles were what he treasured, and he loved Rui's the most. Rui was surprisingly grinning wildly, like when he thought of new plans. But Tsukasa could see that the sorcerer's eyes were filled with bitter hatred, not excitement. Realization washed over his face, and he prepared to speak his last words. "Do you remember when I said I would do anything for you?"
They were both still 16 at that time and considered themselves best friends back then.
"And you're sure you want to try this stunt?" a younger Rui asked, a bit concerned. He thought he would never find someone willing to do it.
"Of course I am! I'd do anything for you! And I'm sure Saki would love to see this!"
"You would?" he said, slightly stuttering. No one has ever even carried through with his most tame plans. How far could he push this? Ideas circled his mind, excitement sparkled in his eyes, and he let out a small laugh. "Well then, let's add a bit more complexity to this."
"Yes! It shall be most extravagant! WAIT WHAT EXACTLY ARE YOU PLANNING?!"
That pleasant memory ended. Now, they were in a present where they had to fight.
"That included dying for you. I didn't think it would have ended like this, but I deserve it. Do it."
The cell was filled with red light. Was this the end?
