It's a new semester which means new classes for Soul, but things don't go exactly as planned on the first day thanks to a not so great classmate.

TW: Predatory Behavior/Transphobia/Misogyny. SELF. CARE. RIGHT NOW/lh

Aaaaannnnnddd the college au is back too! Woo! As usual this is loosely based off of real events. Just a heads up that while the creep in this story is based off of someone in one of my actual classes, the actual conversation and events of this fic were made up! I have not interacted with this guy directly (yet). Gonna hope he's not as bad as he's made himself out to be. ANYWAYS! Enjoy as always my dear readers <3

Work Text:

It was a new year. A new semester, which meant new classes. It was a brand new start for Soul, and he was beyond excited. He had a great lineup for classes too. Finally he got to take some of the classes he’s always wanted to take instead of stupid general education classes. He was practically running to his first class of the day, unable to contain the pure joy he felt. They stepped into the lecture hall and grabbed a seat, eagerly awaiting the start of the class.

Before he knew it, The Professor walked into the room, along with her TA. Immediately Atlas loved the vibes the pair gave off. Kind, smart, and wait is that a “Memento Mori” sticker on the TA’s laptop? Ha Will Wood reference. The lecture soon began with brief introductions from the pair. Of course they went through the typical first day things like the syllabus and brief overview of the class, but soon they move on to the actual material of the course. Material on Day 1 again? Oh well, at least it was just basic definitions.

The Stars sat quietly as they listened and took notes, mouthing the definitions to himself as he typed so he could remember them better. Eventually a discussion was opened up, and before The Professor could even finish her question, someone spoke up. He was incredibly confused at first. Weren’t they supposed to raise their hands first before speaking? Whatever it was probably just a one time thing. Except for the fact that it kept happening, even when a question wasn’t being asked. The same person, over and over again, talking like they knew the subject better than the professor did.

Every time this person spoke, his tone would get increasingly condescending towards The Professor, and Soul would get increasingly pissed off. Who does this fucker think he is? Everybody came here to learn, not listen to some asshole rant about their supposedly superior knowledge, which was mostly just talking about anime and video games as if nobody else would understand the references he was making. Thankfully this class was short and Atlas got out of there before things could get much worse.

He sighed as he started packing up his belongings. What a great first day of class…not. He looked down as he zipped up his backpack, only for his attention to be pulled away by a now familiar voice speaking to him. “Is that an Electivire keychain on your bag?”. Atlas looked up, only to be met witht the face of the jackass who had been rambling all class. Shit… “{Uh…yeah. It is.}”. “That’s an odd choice. Let me guess, a brother or someone got it for you and that’s why you have it!”. The Stars cringed as they stood up, wanting to get out of there as quickly possible. “{Well, yes it was a gift, but it’s still my favorite.}”. “You don’t need to lie to me. Your favorite is actually something simple like Pikachu or Eevee right? I won’t judge! I promise! Girls like you rarely actually know what they’re talking about.”.

Oh fuck no. The condescending attitude was one thing, but misgendering him was a different thing entirely. He took a deep breath, keeping his now growing anger under control. “{First of all, I’m not a girl. I’m a man just like you are. Second of all, please back off. If you’re going to speak to me like this then I don’t want to continue this conversation. Understood?}” The two stared at each other for a brief moment before anybody spoke up again. “...you need help don’t you? You don’t need to pretend to be a man in order to enjoy these things. Sure you may not be able to comprehend them as well as we can but, I can help! You sound like you need an actual man to help guide you. I can fix whatever is causing this confusion.”.

He started getting close, uncomfortably close. Soul froze up, not sure how they were supposed to escape this situation. They tensed up, getting ready to claw and fight his way out of this if needed. He could feel this creep’s breaths on his face, and he only continued to get closer, only for him to suddenly pull away as someone shouted from across the room. “[BACK. OFF.]”. Mind walked over to the pair from where he had been sitting moments before and pulled the creep away. “[Are you so dense that you can’t tell when you’re making someone uncomfortable?]”. He grabbed the creep’s collar and pulled him close enough that eye contact was impossible to avoid. “[If I catch you messing with Atlas, or anybody else for that matter again, I promise you I won’t be as kind. Do yourself a favor and do some self reflection when you get home tonight. Understood?]”.

Apollo let go of him, watching as he sped out of the room. They sighed and looked towards Atlas. “[Are you okay Stars?]”. The Stars nodded and sighed in relief. “{Yeah I’m fine…when did you even get here Sunshine?}”. The Sun smirked a bit. “[Did you seriously forget that we were taking this class together? Come on, let’s go get some breakfast before everywhere gets too crowded.].” He picked up Soul’s bag and handed it to them, before walking out of the room and in the direction of a little food court area.

Soul was sure he could’ve handled that situation on his own, but he was grateful for Mind nonetheless. He listened to him ramble on and on as they walked, enjoying the distraction from everything that had just happened. They were probably going to have to report this to somebody, but if that meant this creep couldn’t harass anyone else then so be it. If nothing else, it’ll be nice to have that class be peaceful from then on. In the meantime though, that didn’t matter. It had been an eventful first day of class to say the least, but now, it was time to go get a bagel and just relax.
