Brothers (Two Sides of the Same Coin)

Summary:

Izuku Midoriya and Katsuki Bakugo are brothers in all but blood. Their mothers have been the best of friends since diapers. Sharing the same dreams of becoming a Pro Hero, a wrench is thrown into their plans. At the age of four Katsuki Bakugo was diagnosed as Quirkless, while Izuku was not. But the two children believed in each other, their bond growing closer throughout the years. And with the help of Izuku's mother they train for UA High School, the most prestigious school in Japan. The greatest Pro Hero that their ever was graduated from the school, and the two boys wanted to follow in his footsteps.

That hero is named All Might. However, unknown to the world he was getting older, and more tired. The career-ending injury didn't help things either. He would soon have to retire, but he couldn't do that without making sure the future was going to be protected without him there, and so he looks for a successor to carry the mantle of his Quirk. He finds the perfect successor in Katsuki Bakugo, now... if only he didn't also promise to train the son of his Arch-nemisis alongside his successor.

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

Four four year old boys sat in a sand pit at the park. Their mothers sitting a distance away at a bench talking to each other. Two of the boys are named Izuku Midoriya and Katsuki Bakugo. The other two aren’t quite important to the story that is being told. In a few years they would be a faceless name in the two boy’s memories.

Building sand castles, Izuku began to look at the bigger kid. His ravenous look scared the other boy, who had been slowly creeping away from the green haired boy. Izuku then stops, and that was the thing that made Katsuki notice the change in his friend.

Katsuki watched as his friend robotically moved, his hand slowly raised and outstretched to just touch Wings. And as Izuku touched Wings, black sparks of energy radiated from Izuku’s hand, making Wings scream in pain. A second later, Izuku removes his hand from Wings. Wings then fell to the ground, as Izuku screamed, yelled, and cried.

The sound alerts the mothers, who rush to their children's side. And as they console their children, bright red dinosaur-like wings grow from Izuku's back. Inko gasps. Katsuki yells in confusion at Izuku. Wings and his mother screamed, running away. They were never seen in Musutafu again.

Then a few days later, Izuku returned to the daycare with a Quirk. A Quirk called Give and Take. The ability to give and take Quirks. He was the strongest of them. He had the greatest potential of them all, and so the rest of the class was scared of him. But the appearance of his Quirk put pressure on Katsuki to get a strong Quirk as well. And so, a week later, Mitsuki took Katsuki to a Quirk appointment. Apparently he went home crying, and didn’t leave his home for a week, before he came back to daycare once again.

Sitting far away from the rest of the kids during play time, Izuku could tell that Katsuki seemed nervous. And before he could ponder on why, Katsuki asks, “Deku, do you think that I can still be a Hero?”

Izuku looks at Katsuki. He saw the tears welling up in his friends eyes. That looked unnatural in his friend’s usually confident eyes. So, that is what this is about. Katsuki is Quirkless. With a smile, Izuku says, “With, or without a Quirk. I know you can still be a hero. And we will be heroes together. Mama is a doctor now, she can help us train!”

Katsuki looks at him, a blank look on his face. He asks, “Really?”

Izuku nods. His mom was super strong, and can move things with her mind.

And from that point on, the two were inseparable. Brothers in all but blood. Two sides of the same coin. One with, and one without. But neither of the two complained. They were going to be Pro Heroes after all, and getting training from Izuku’s mother,  Inko Midoriya.

Inko Midoriya is a woman of average height. She has large circular eyes that are dark green in color, long, matching dark green hair is pulled up into a ponytail with bangs that part to the left of her face. While slender and curvaceous in frame, she also sports a lean, athletic and well-defined build, especially in her arms and legs.

You see, Inko Midoriya is a former Pro Hero in her own right. The Esper Hero: Tornado. When she was active, Tornado was the Strongest Female Hero. Inko retired from active duty to become a mother, and she wouldn’t trade it for the world.

However, her son’s Quirk scared her. Officially called Give and Take, Inko knew what it really was. All for One. The Boogeyman of the Underworld. The Symbol of Evil. Being a Hero, and a new one at that, All for One was just that, a boogeyman used to haunt your dreams.

With this fact secure in her mind, her head was spinning. She was married to… Was her husband’s name truly Hisashi? No, obviously not. It was All for One. Was everything he told her a lie? Most likely. Did he even love her? She didn’t know. What she did know is that his Quirk was definitely not Fire Breathing. Fuck! How could she have fallen for that man? She knew how. He was the first guy to give her attention that wasn’t just for her body or her Quirk. And despite all that she knew now, she got Izuku out of it, and she would never forget that. Nor would she go back and change anything. Izuku is her son, and it didn’t matter the Quirk he had.

As the years passed, Inko trained her son and his best friend to become Pro Heroes. A year turned to two. Two into three. Three into four. So on, and so forth. Four years turned to ten. The two boys were ready as they stared at Takoba Municipal Beach Park.
