keep me under a warm light until i hatch. give me lots of food. daily, until i am big enough. i will eat anything. keep me warm until the new feathers grow in. let me roam around the yard. chase me back to safety at night. remove my waste when it piles too high. give me a name. pet me. hold me. choose me from among my peers. build a fire. fill a pot with water. remove me from the coop. hold me firmly against the chopping block. bring the axe high and swing it down hard and clean. let go of my twitching corpse as it runs around the yard. send your children into the long grass to find me. boil me and stir me until my feathers slide off. wait until i am cold enough to touch. reach inside and remove my organs. seal me in a ziplock bag and freeze me for as long as you can bear. defrost me, overnight. chop potatoes, yams, carrots, onions. place me in an oven-safe pan and rub me with oil, cajun, garlic, salt, pepper, inside and out. surround me with vegetables. 350°F, 20 minutes per pound of meat. internal temperature 165°F.
