Okay, maybe Jaemin didn’t think it through. At first, climbing up this tree and knocking on Donghyuck’s window had seemed like a good idea, but now he regretted ever coming up with this stupid idea. Because there was a huge gap between Donghyuck’s window and the largest branch of the tree. Now, he had two options to choose from:
- He knocked on Donghyuck’s window and risked falling down and dying at the age of twenty-one.
- He went back down and used the front door like a normal human being.
A safe sane person would pick option two, but there was a huge possibility of Donghyuck not answering the door because the alpha liked to zone out and pretend like he was in a world devoid of humans while studying. There could be a fucking tsunami hitting his apartment and he would be too focused on his dumb notes to even notice that his house was flooding.
So, Jaemin gathered all the courage he had in him and leaned as close as possible, gasping when his hand nearly slipped from the window still. Jaemin clenched his eyes close, preventing himself from looking down. He breathed in shakily and lifted one trembling hand from the window still, badly hoping that his tippy toes didn’t slip from the branch and caused him to actually die at 21.
Jaemin knocked on the window two times before shaking his head and gripping the window still again. He knew Donghyuck probably didn’t hear it, but he was slowly starting to panic. He prayed to the gods that Donghyuck would miraculously decide to open the curtains for the first time in his life. His boyfriend was fucking Dracula’s son, so the possibility of that happening was more slim than him answering the door. Fuck, Jaemin should have just brought the spare key he got from Donghyuck.
Jaemin could feel the strength slowly leaving his feet, so he finally panicked. Yeah, he knew this was a stupid idea, but he really just wanted to see Donghyuck. They both had exams and needed to study. While Jaemin was at home and trying to memorize some dumb physics equations, a devastating realisation hit him: He didn’t smell like Donghyuck.
To be more accurate: No piece of clothing, not even the hoodie he had stolen from the older, smelled like Donghyuck. The stress of school combined with the lack of sunflower scent, caused him to hyperventilate.
Without thinking, he ran out without a jacket in this cold and decided to climb a fucking tree because he forgot to bring Donghyuck’s key.
Jaemin had actually tried to climb this tree a lot of times already, but each time he gave up after trying to figure out which branch wouldn’t make him fall down immediately like a fool. The last few times he just used his phone and called Donghyuck a hundred times- omg he had a phone!
Jaemin laughed shakily and made the mistake of looking down. His laugh turned into a choke and he snapped his head up, with a cuss. He removed his right hand from the window still yet again and softly patted his jacket pocket. He pulled his phone out in slow motion, heart pounding in fear of letting go accidentally.
He pulled it out and laid it down on the window still. He clicked on emergency contacts with his shaky ass finger and put his phone on speaker. Jaemin muttered prayers under his breath and nearly jumped down in joy when Donghyuck’s voice appeared.
“Hello?”
"H-Hi! Hyu-hyuckie- I-I-”
“Nana, are you okay??"
Jaemin’s whole body began to shake violently because blood stopped flowing inside his left hand.
“No! I‘m s-super f-fine just- please look out the- the w-window,“ he stuttered, sighing in relief when a shadow appeared behind the curtains. The window got open and Jaemin tried to smile up at Donghyuck.
"S-Surprise!"
Donghyuck blinked a few times tiredly before widening his eyes and taking in Jaemin's body hanging off his window still. “What the fuck are you doing?!”
Jaemin laughed and motioned at his phone with his head. “Could you- could you please take my phone?“
Donghyuck didn’t move for a second before taking his phone from the window still and throwing it somewhere inside his room. Jaemin cringed at the noise of his phone hitting something hard and made the same mistake as one minute ago. He looked down.
“Hyuck, please help me in or I’ll die!” he screamed hysterically and made mistake number three: He slipped. Jaemin knew this was going to happen. He knew he would die. At least he got to see Donghyuck for the last time before entering heaven. He clenched his eyes close and waited for his head to hit the pavement.
“What the fuck are you doing?”
Jaemin squinted his eyes open and exhaled in relief when he saw the ground being still ten feet under him. He then turned his head and caught Donghyuck’s very furious gaze. “You would have been fucking dead if I hadn’t caught you!”
Jaemin grinned when he noticed that Donghyuck was holding him up with two arms. “I know.” He smiled cheekily, fully trusting in Donghyuck’s strength. Which was probably dumb because his boyfriend hit the gym only twice a year.
Nevertheless, Donghyuck heaved Jaemin up while muttering hundreds of swears. Jaemin laughed but groaned when the window still dug into his stomach painfully. Donghyuck then successfully pulled him in and they stumbled to the floor.
Jaemin clenched his eyes close and waited for the impact, but all he could feel was a hand pressing his head against a strong chest. He heard a loud bang and then a loud groan.
“Fuck, Jaemin.”
Jaemin hummed and nuzzled his cheek against Donghyuck’s broad chest. “Hello to you too, Hyuckie.”
He squeaked when his head was lifted by two hands. “Did you just climb a fucking ten-feet-long tree?” Donghyuck’s eyes were dark with fury, but Jaemin could see the evident concern in them.
Jaemin nodded excitedly, actually proud of being still alive. “I did!”
Donghyuck said nothing before screaming in defeat and bagging his head against the floor. “My heart fucking drooped when you slipped.”
Jaemin laughed, somehow feeling high with the older’s scent everywhere. “Mine didn’t, I knew you would catch me.”
Donghyuck closed his eyes and held Jaemin a little closer, heart still pounding in anxiety. For a moment he had really thought Jaemin was going to die in front of him.
“How often did I tell you not to climb that thing?” He whispered tiredly, somehow extremely comfortable on the floor despite his pounding head.
“Not enough many times,” Jaemin mumbled and tugged his head inside Donghyuck’s neck. His whole body filled with warmth when he took a whiff of a blooming sunflower field.
Donghyuck sighed in defeat, too tired to keep telling Jaemin how dumb he was. He only pulled Jaemin closer and wrapped his arms tightly around his body.
“Sometimes I don’t know why I’m together with you. You climbed a ten fucking feet long tree without a fucking jacket while it’s minus ten degrees outside. ”
Jaemin whined, “Can you stop nagging and let me savour this moment?”
“I would, but someone has to remind you of how dumb you are.”
Jaemin whined again and weakly punched Donghyuck on the shoulder. “Stop being so mean.”
“Then start using the front door. There is a reason why I gave you a spare key Nana.”
Jaemin closed his eyes and sighed, feeling how all the anxiety in his body disappeared.
“Thanks for catching me.”
“Always.”
“Now, please close the window, I’m freezing.”
Don’t ask Donghyuck how they ended up like this. Donghyuck had tried to wrestle the clingy koala called Na Jaemin off of his body, so he could continue studying, but the clingy koala was stubborn and didn’t let loose. So, Donghyuck had to get creative and somehow ended up in his chair with clingy Jaemin on his lap.
Now he was taking notes with one hand while rubbing Jaemin’s back with the other. It wasn’t that hard to concentrate while having Jaemin this close. Jaemin’s scent had an extraordinary effect on him. His head felt much more clear and the information he tried to stuff inside his brain made sense immediately.
On top of that, he knew Jaemin needed this physical contact. He could actually smell Jaemin’s stressed scent from miles away. Instead of a basket of sweet peaches, he would smell like spoiled peach syrup, somehow sweet and sour at the same time. Just as he was about to start studying for his calculus test, his nose picked up the familiar scent. His tired brain didn’t really register it at first, but then it got really intense and he wanted to look out the window because it came from that direction. Then, Jaemin called and the rest was history.
Seriously, Jaemin was the reason he would get grey hair at the young age of 21.
“Jaemin, I told you, you could sit in my lap if you don’t squirm.”
“I’m just trying to be more comfortable.”
“That doesn’t mean you should move your hips like that.”
Jaemin gasped and looked back with wide eyes. “Are you saying I’m trying to seduce you?”
Donghyuck gave him a blank look, his hand tightened around Jaemin so he didn’t fall off. Once Donghyuck had accidentally let go when Jaemin had tried to sit on his lap. Jaemin then banged his head against the table and needed to get five stitches. Donghyuck had been traumatized since then.
“You are always trying to seduce me even though I’m literally your boyfriend.”
Jaemin pouted and played with the litter hair on his neck. “I’m just trying to keep the fire alive in our relationship.”
Donghyuck rolled his eyes, both hands slipping under Jaemin’s shirt. “You are just trying to distract me.”
“That too,” Jaemin giggled and nuzzled their cheeks together. He had missed this. He had missed cuddling with his boyfriend.
“Jaemin, you promised me I could study.” Donghyuck’s voice came out in a pout as his lips were squished together by the other’s face.
“Just a sec.” And with that, Jaemin leaned back and crashed their lips together. Kissing Donghyuck always felt overwhelmingly good. The way he moved his lips with such practice whenever they kissed was undeniably hot. He knew just where to bite and suck to make Jaemin’s body want more and more. Just as he was about to tease Donghyuck’s lips with his tongue, the alpha broke their lips apart. Jaemin whined and chased his lips, only to bite his tongue so as not to moan at the way Donghyuck’s hands tightened on his waist.
“This is what I meant by seducing,” Donghyuck mumbled, eyes dark and focused on Jaemin’s glossy lips. Jaemin’s own eyes were hooded and a little dazed. “It always works.”
Donghyuck tried to control the alpha in him at Jaemin’s sultry tone. “Even if it works, I really do need to study Jaemin.”
Jaemin pouted the biggest pout ever and kicked his feet in disappointment. “And I thought you would fuck me against the desk.”
Donghyuck groaned and tucked Jaemin’s head inside his neck again. “If you shut up for one hour I promise to do something similar.”
Jaemin hummed happily and wrapped his arms around his neck. Donghyuck sighed and shuffled closer to his desk again. He wrapped an arm around Jaemin and grasped his pen with the other.
He was able to focus for about ten minutes before Jaemin demanded food.
