Every person on Earth has a counter on their left wrist that determines who they get to spend the rest of their life with. Hide is a young but talented Investigator working for the 20th Ward branch of the CCG. He's pretty psyched about his soulmate, whoever they are. That is, until he *finds out* who they are.
Hide felt his center of gravity shift as he was righted slowly, held up by a single kagune wrapped around his throat. He didn't know if he could call for backup- his radio had gone silent. It might have been damaged in the fight. He roved his eyes over his assailant. The first thing that he saw was the hair. A shocking white, bright in the darkness of the alley. The mask, a gruesome snarl, bared teeth, one eye visible.
One kakugan eye.

Conejo parecía reacio a irse, pero finalmente asintió y retrocedió hacia la oscuridad. Todavía podía ver el rojo brillante de su kagune ardiendo en la distancia. Solo de nuevo. ¿Y ahora qué? Parche en el ojo se giró lentamente y sus ojos se encontraron de nuevo. Hubo ese mismo zap, esa conmoción de comprensión, y Hide lo supo . Se preguntó si el ghoul también podría sentirlo. A juzgar por su postura que se relajaba rápidamente, el ablandamiento y la disipación de su kagune, debía. Parche en el ojo dio un paso vacilante hacia él, y Hide sintió ganas de cerrar la distancia entre ellos. A pesar de la situación, el magnetismo que tiraba de su propio ser era casi abrumador. Un solo dedo lo hizo callar, a solo una pulgada o dos de sus labios. La ceja visible de Parche en el Ojo estaba fruncida, y parecía casi disculparse. Solo le tomó un paso o dos para salir del callejón. Hide nunca se había sentido tan solo. Por un segundo, podría haber jurado que se estaba ahogando. ¿Así era como se sentía ser rechazado por un alma gemela?
