Chapter 1: Dough-lighful accident

Chapter Text

Quite honestly, you weren't surprised by the way your life had turned out. You were never a very social person and you thrived with new technology because you weren't forced to interact with others face-to-face. Not that it bothered you much, you were able to communicate, it's just that the environment decided to focus on you and made you not want to leave the house. Well, maybe that sounds a little dramatic…

Your life has been rather quiet since you moved across the country from your parents and started living a normal life. At least it was more normal than before. You were lucky that your parents weren't keen enough to look for you, to follow you across the country. That's why as soon as you became an adult, you started looking for your own home, escaping by every bus, tram and train you could.

Of course, you never missed them, and it was probably mutual. Or maybe even definitely. You blocked their phone numbers and when they managed to call you anyway, you just changed your number. And so, finally free from this, well, hell, you managed to live in a small house and live the life of an ordinary young person.
Now you knew that your life had nothing to do with hell, but more on that later.

Anyway, your parents gave you a wonderful gift on your birthday. Specifically, your mother, who obviously never wanted to play this role, decided that on the day you were born she would curse you so that you would go to hell after death. Of course, during your stay with them, she made sure to mention it to you at every opportunity, in case you forgot. Charming woman.
Therefore, over these many years of your life, you have become accustomed to the idea that you will be in the kingdom of Lucifer after the end of your earthly life. For some reason you didn't even feel scared by it, maybe it was just hope that it wouldn't be worse than on earth? Or maybe your ignorance. You have wondered how others would behave in your place, whether they would break the holy commandments since they will never go to heaven anyway? Why follow the "thou shalt not kill" rule if you will burn in hell anyway?

Yeah, you never felt the need to break them.
You weren't someone who wanted to kill anyone, or commit a crime, or do anything like that. You may have stolen something, but that's probably it. Anyone who heard this would probably call you a prude or some other words for a ‘good kid’. Not that you care about that. You liked to set rules for yourself to follow and you thought that was enough. Fortunately, you survived this way for over thirty years.
Unfortunately, your fears from your family home decided to keep you at house and not allow you to develop in the directions you would like. That's why you did odd jobs that you could do remotely, instead of running your own business that you dreamed of. All your life you felt sorry for yourself because your brain did not allow you to do what you wanted, but only at the end of your life you did realize exactly how much you regret everything. So, as you prepared to end your life, you had plenty of time to realize what you would give for a clean slate where you could start all over again. And with this hope that there is an afterlife, you went to the roof of the isolated, tallest apartment building in city.

After falling into Hell, you were surprised to find that it actually looked very normal, except for the color red everywhere.
The second thing that surprised you was that you had extremely white skin. And your body felt a little different, but you figured you'd probably have to get used to it.
Unfortunately, you didn't have any mirror to look at yourself, so you didn't know what you looked like, but you immediately felt that your legs were a little different. You decided to ignore it for now and check it out later.
So you stumbled towards the big "for new arrivals" sign.
Having no better choice, you entered the building, where you were immediately greeted by a lot of demons in the queue to the reception, so you thought that you would also stand in the queue. And unfortunately, while waiting, they encountered a few rude people who wanted to push in front of you, but you managed to deal with most of them. So finally, when you reached the receptionist's counter after probably about an hour of waiting in line, your mind felt like it had gone blank. What were you actually going to ask? It seemed idiotic to ask where you were, but you had no ideas.
Luckily, before you managed to make a fool of yourself, the receptionist spoke first:

“Good morning, honey! Welcome to Hell, would you like a beginner demon starter kit?”

“Yes…? you said uncertainly”

“Wonderfully! Here I have a package for you!” The demon took out a small cardboard box and you could hear objects banging around inside.

“Thanks” you grabbed the set, feeling that there were definitely a lot of items in there “should I pay something for this or..”

“Nah, you don't have money! Besides, we're giving one to everyone, the princess's new decree.” The demon shrugged dismissively

You wanted to ask more, but you heard whispers behind you to leave because others were waiting, so you just said goodbye quickly and headed towards the exit.
When you stepped outside the cramped building, you stood lost in thought. What were you supposed to do now? You had no place to live and you weren't stupid enough to stay outside overnight. However, staying and thinking will not bring anything, so you moved forward, hoping that somewhere they are accepting new people.

There was no denying that this place was not much different from earth. Which calmed you down a bit because you could hope that somewhere you would find people who could help you. However, hell was big, so you decided to follow the simple path for now. Well, you'll definitely find a place for yourself sooner or later.

“Be careful, or I'll start to think you've suddenly developed a liking for sweets!” you smiled, amused to see your friend looking at the cake display.

You fell into hell a few months ago and you decided that this time you wouldn't waste your life. Well, afterlife. But you saw it as a second chance and you were going to take it! You managed to find a very cozy place with a certain Imp demon who let you live with him in exchange for contributing to the rent. Of course, being roommates turned into your strange friendship. Where you managed to draw out from him what was bothering him on a given day and tried to support him in some way. The poor guy seemed to be very lonely despite his extroverted appearance, but you weren't going to let that go so easily. So you ended up living together, helping each other, and being friends. You deeply encouraged him in his almost-relationship, Although you couldn't convince him to ask the prince out on a date. Although, you set it as a goal by the end of the month. Aggressively nice support required sacrifice, and you were going to aggressively help.
You also helped him with his paperwork, seeing that he wasn't good at writing and reading, and you were lucky because he started paying you some money. Luckily, when you live with someone you don't have to spend that much on living, so you managed to save enough money to start a small business. It wasn't something fancy, just an ordinary confectionery shop where you could sell your own homemade sweets. But you were happy about it because you couldn't do it in your life. So, after the following months, you managed to save money to move out.
The story in a nutshell, but that's how you found yourself here, in your bakery, with your new friend who visited you far too often for someone who doesn't eat sweets. And this time, it's a different demon!

You actually met quite by accident when he came to your bakery looking like a wet cat because it was raining like crazy outside. You took pity and gave him tea and cake, while listening to his complaints and drunken insults.
The rain continued to fall that day, so after seeing the poor guy fall asleep on the table, you decided to call Blitz to take you and the other demon to your house. After hearing enough sex jokes and somnophilia comments, you managed to transport a drunk stranger to your living room. You left him on the couch and went to sleep, although your last gray matter reminded you to lock the door to your room just in case. The next day, after a night of making many reckless decisions, you were woken up by the sound of breaking glass in the kitchen. Which, of course, turned out to be the result of trying to cure your companion's hangover. You didn't have any help at home for this because you didn't drink alcohol, so the only thing you could make was tea. Your grumpy friend seemed to appreciate it though, so you sat him down on the couch and asked if he remembered anything from the evening. As it turned out, he remembered everything, so you quickly made a mental note that this probably wasn't his first rodeo.

After he left, you didn't see each other until he showed up at your bakery again, this time to buy something sweet. It crossed your mind that he didn't look like someone who liked cake, but you immediately scolded yourself for judging a book by its cover. However, since he was the only customer at that moment, you asked him out of curiosity what kind of sweets he likes, so maybe you can give him some advice. And, not very surprised, you found out that he was actually buying for someone. Amused, you watched as he avoided your comments about what that person liked, so you just gave him a piece of your special, making a comment about him having to come back here and tell you if this mystery person likes your cake.
That's more or less the beginning of your next strange friendship

“No fucking chance. I don't eat it. But hey,it looks good, so let me at least enjoy it.” He shrugged, not taking his eyes off your pink and white buttercream cake

“Sure, sure” you laughed “I will start baking some just for you since you are aiming for specific types”

“They're not specific, it's just that-” he stopped when he heard your laughter

“Oh very fucking funny, what's the problem? I may be choosing specific ones, but what difference does it make?”

“I didn't even say anything, and besides, I was serious about baking for you. I have a lot of pink dye at home” You smiled at him

“You sound like I should do something in return and I don't like it.”

“Weeeell” you stretched, leaning on the counter towards him “You are right!”

“So?” he raised a red eyebrow but didn't move away, knowing your antics well “Fucking surprise me”

“You will have to make a list of what your friend likes to eat, fruits, creams…”

“Seriously? Is this what you need?” He snorted at you “I ain’t gonna ask him about it”

“Then you will never reach his heart through his stomach”

“To be honest, it sounds kind of fucking scary, You're planning some weird shit, not cake.”

You rolled your eyes, damn tsundere.
“Fine, whatever. Am just saying I could do that.”

He looked at you for a moment as if he was actually considering it.

“Actually, I'll think about it-”

You raised your eyebrows in surprise, maybe the kitten will show his claws after all.
You shot him an amused look.

“Babe, I'll give you the best treats in all of damn hell, I swear”
You smiled wider when he smiled back.
