A Hopeful Interaction | Xavier's Love

Summary:

Xavier is in another world where he vows to protect his lover once again. Though, in this parallel universe, the woman he loved is a man with masculine beauty. This doesn't stop him from loving the person he's been searching for, wanting to protect his whole life. He makes his move.

[I don't own 恋与深空 | Love and Deepspace (Video Game); this is purely fanfic]

Notes:

I've wanted to bring some mlm fanfic into the fandom since there are those that wish to be represented as male in the game (which isn't going to happen--it's an otome game, which are marketed towards women). That not wrong of them to do, but leaving reviews or comments under anything showcasing the game is pointless. So, I'm going to make a One-Shot chain filled with mlm stories with the men to give you something that won't be in the game.

Also, I can't force myself to read Instagram comments. Some of the people in the fandom are crazy, asking the people who create the game to add unhinged things and its very cringy.

Anyway! Enjoy!

See you at the bottom!

Work Text:

Xavier had to travel different worlds where she stood breathing, and most he had failed to protect her from an impending fate, witnessing the death of the person he love. He was used to the motions, having been through it for so long. It was clock work, an endless loop of endless possibilities and all come to the same conclusion. He hated it, he wanted to do everything in his power to force to world to bend to his knees, but he was limited by the forces of nature. The many parallel worlds placed her in important roles, or in dire situations, as if fate was laughing at him directly, mocking his uselessness for all eternity. He should be dead, the years climbing, he should be buried in the ground, but he isn’t. He won’t give up so easily, he would fight all those that wish to stop him, giving him vague concern. He had enough of it all. If no one wanted to save her, he would do it alone. If no one wanted to save her, he was no longer part of the world. Although something was different in the present time, the possibility of this outcome had never happened to him prior, was there a sign that he was coming closer to the end? No. This is just another opportunity to save the person he love, no matter what. The park was kept clean, taken care of with steady hands. He was surprised no one was out, but maybe the cold was keeping everyone hidden away in their homes, wanting nothing by the warmth of their heaters or stoves. Then, his eyes caught the sight of someone familiar, his heart pounding in his chest.

The woman he’s been striving the protect, the woman of this dreams, the woman he loved was a soft-spoken man. The masculine beauty that sculpted every feature, dripping it with grace, blessing the man with natural pulchritudinous. His body propositioned to perfection, he wasn’t too tall, nor was he overly short. Under the coat, was the build of hard work, but nothing more. He wasn’t overly muscular on a single glance, but Xavier could tell that regardless of that, there were still muscle hiding underneath the clothing. He was wearing comfortable pants that could cancel out the cold, but making sure his attire was appealing to the watchful eye. Typical shoes that were tied into a bow. He was trotting along the fountain, his [color]-eyes following the flow of the water, being mesmerized by the sight. He exhaled, the cold engulfing his breath, exposing it for those around him before ultimately fading away with the wind. Xavier couldn’t believe it, standing openly with nothing covering his daze. What should he do? He was watching this man, who doesn’t even know him, but he felt something overcome him. To make connections is to put yourself in situations where a conversation could form. This was the same person that he loved, even though they were a man here, they would still hold the personality he fell in love with. The caring, selflessness with a playful side that showed on certain occasions.

He sighed, carefully making his way to [Name]. Xavier’s eyes widened when the man made eye-contact with him, turning his head over to Xavier with senses sensitive to the soft sound of his shoes. [Name] stood up straight, tilting his head in a cute manner that Xavier couldn’t obsess over at the moment. He couldn’t believe this at all. Why was he going straight up to [Name]? He would usually keep an eye on them, to ensure that they could handle themselves, but he feel that this world was insanely different. [Name] was just a basic working a man—a civilian living life in the city. He felt comfortable going up to him. He wanted to change the fate, so he must change the method of providing the protection instead. Why not make friends with him, then hopefully the way of life would bless him for once in his life. To give the chance to love [Name] with all that he had. Xavier faced the fountain, standing beside the man, but not speaking. He was still a hunter in this world, he did what he could to achieve that once again, but [Name] wasn’t with him. They had different lives in this timeline, but for some reason, he didn’t seem disappointed by the fact. He would be far away from any danger, and that is that mattered to Xavier. He wouldn’t be fighting, wouldn’t be involved in the craziness of the underworld that crawled underneath the city. Xavier glanced by the corner of his eye, seeing the man opened his mouth, beginning to speak. He was going to do the talking first, it excited Xavier.

“The cold always makes water glisten so beautifully,” [Name] said, he chuckled afterwards, embarrassed at his absurdity. “It may sound strange, but that is why I could stare at the fountain for hours on end.” He turned to Xavier. “I’m [Name], it is nice to see another at the park. I see that you’re a hunter, should I be worried?”

Xavier shook his head, taking in the deep, soft voice of [Name] bless his ears. He turned his head to the man he loved. “No. Just like you, I happen to enjoy the cold tainted scenery.” He glanced towards the ground. “I’m Xavier. I’m just on a small break from patrolling the city.”

“Would you like some coffee? Or a treat?” [Name] asked. “I’ll gladly buy one for you. You do a lot of work around here to let you shiver here alone.” Xavier couldn’t tell if he was blushing, or the cold was getting to him more than it was to him. “What do you say? It could bloom a great friendship if you’re up to it.” [Name] smiled so innocently.

Xavier felt a blush form on his cheeks. He couldn’t believe this man was this adorable. Saying such silly things with genuine intentions, it made Xavier go crazy, but in the end, he nodded his head. “You don’t need to buy one, but I’ll gladly join you.”

“Great!” [Name] exclaimed. “It’s not that far, come along.” He began to walk at an angle, and Xavier followed, keeping his pace steady with [Name].

The walk was a mere effort for Xavier, but it greatly affected [Name] and that made him slightly worried. He carefully placed his hand on the back of the one he loved, wanting to comfort the best he could with little information that he had. [Name] stood back up, taking an asthma inhaler from the pocket of his coat, and sticking into his mouth, breathing in the medicine. After a few minutes, or seconds—Xavier was too worried to count the time it took [Name] to calmly breathe again.

“Apologies,” [Name] started with. “The cold is of the factors that cause my flare-ups.”

“Then why put yourself in this situation?” Xavier asked.

“I appreciate the concern, Xavier, but I still want to live. I’m careful.” [Name] smiled. “Now let us enter. We both could enjoy some of the heat in here.” He opened the door, a little ding echoing through the café, and Xavier followed right after, making sure the door didn’t slam.

Xavier greatly appreciated the treats the café offered, and even bought himself two in celebration of meeting the man he loved. He didn’t care if [Name] was a woman or man, they were still the same regardless and that is all that mattered. The time quickly flew by that he didn’t know that it had been a couple of hours of them speaking, mostly Xavier asking [Name] question because he wanted to hear the man speak, even if he kept incising that he let Xavier talk about himself as well. He always declined, loving how flustered [Name] got when he was lacking words to use to answers the questions Xavier was throwing at him. “How is your family?”

That one question silenced [Name]. His face showed some solemn, but not pure despair, but an expression of looking back towards the past—something he had come to terms with. “They were amazing. They sadly passed, but even so, they’re always with me—in the heart. I’ll never forget them as long as I live.”

Xavier smiled, nodding. “Do you perhaps live in the [apartment building they share]?”

“I do. Is that why you came up to me? I was familiar?” [Name] chuckled. “I live on the fifth floor.”

“I’m right above you. Maybe when I’m not so busy, we could go out again.” Xavier stood up. “And until that happens, I enjoyed this date of ours, [Name].”

[Name] blinked in shock at the word date, seeing that Xavier was no longer standing in front of him. He glanced all over, and still no Xavier was seen. He chuckled at the hunter’s little escape show and covered his smiling mouth. I wish to see him again. He left the café, paying and heading home. He’s so interesting. It’s been sometime since I’ve met someone knew. Thank you, Xavier, for brightening up my day, and for your concern. He headed home.
