Summary
Terzo Emeritus and Avery were best friends. As kids in the Ministry, they were inseparable – right up until the moment Avery left Sweden to start a new life in the United States. Fifteen years later, she’s back in Sweden and back to her old stomping grounds. She didn’t expect things to pick up where they left off, but being around Terzo again was easy – and comfortable.
Secondo Emeritus grew up to be a cold, indifferent man. Unlike his younger brother Terzo, Secondo's focuses are ascending to be the next Pope and casual sexual encounters with the Sisters of Sin. He's comfortable with the choices he's made in life, but Avery's return as a Sister could possibly threaten that perspective.
Avery comes back with a secret, a clandestine piece of information that she couldn’t tell her best friend all those years ago. Now that she’s back in the Ministry, it becomes more difficult to keep it under wraps. As events unfold, Avery realizes that despite her efforts to keep events of the past buried, they will always find a way to reveal themselves in the present.
