Work Text:

It's Minji's first time waking up in Yoohyeon's bed. She's not talking about the top bunk at the dorm, with Bora's snoring filtering through from the bottom. She's talking about her childhood bed, her home in Incheon.

It's their first time in a while to get some well deserved break after a long promotion period, and finally the first win. It is not a secret that an enormous weight that has been sitting on all of their shoulders have been lifted at last, making this break time feel a little more free, as if there is more room for just finally breathing.

Handong proposed Yubin and Gahyeon a trip to China, and the youngest two accepted the request in a heartbeat. The thought alone brings a sheepish smile onto Minji's lips. They would do anything for Handong.

Siyeon and Bora have decided to go on a little secret getaway to Jeju. The pair have always been babbling about going to the island once they get a longer break, and as soon as it was confirmed they would get two weeks off before they would get back on solo schedules and to practicing, they were out of the dorm the same day with suitcases full of summer dresses, bikinis and hopefully some sunscreen at least.

Minji had no idea at first what she would be doing, thinking she could use the time to visit back home, spend time with her sibling and her parents, catch up with some friends and most importantly: relax.

All of her plans got thrown out the window when on the first day of their break, a clumsy and shy Yoohyeon waddled to her in the dorm, asking if she wanted to go to Incheon with her to visit her mom and siblings. Minji couldn't say anything else than yes.

So now, as she rolls over in bed, waking up from her nap and the first thing she sees is Yoohyeon leaning against the headboard, quietly reading a book next to her, she feels content and calm. As if this is always supposed to feel like this, to feel like home.

She lifts one of her hands to brush against the now slightly faded black bangs, fixing them up a little bit.  Minji has always loved Yoohyeon's face, it's so round and puppy-like. The sunlight beaming into the room from the side casts a glow around Yoohyeon that makes Minji's breath get caught up in her throat. She looks so calm and stated, eyes following the black letters printed on the yellow paper, probably in english. She looks angelic like this.

"Hi there." Yoohyeon smiles brighter than the afternoon sun that's filtering through her curtains once she feels Minji's touch and she places the book beside her bed.

Her attention is instantly and immediately on Minji and her only. It's something Minji can never get used to. Her soft, warm gaze, filled with love and curiosity, sometimes cluelessness and confusion. But they are always so mellow, so welcoming and understanding. No wonder Minji is obsessed with her brain, with how competent Yoohyeon's gaze is all the time, as if all the knowledge of the universe would be in her head.

"What were you reading?" Her voice is still laced with sleep, as she pushes herself to cuddle into Yoohyeon's side, head coming to rest on her chest, an arm draped around the slim waist of the younger.

"To Kill A Mockingbird." Yoohyeon answers with her almost perfect english accent, and Minji doesn't even need to ask to know that she indeed has been reading it in english.

"Tell me about it."

And there it goes, Yoohyeon starts to babble about the characters, the storyline, the twists and everything that has happened in the book so far. Minji swears she is listening, never allowing her attention to slip, knowing how upset Yoohyeon can get when she feels ignored. But she's so warm and her voice rumbles in her chest like a sweet melody, Minji sometimes loses track of the meaning of her words.

"...So yeah, it's a coming-of-age story if you think about it that way."

Minji hums, happily, nosing at Yoohyeon's collarbone.

"It really amazes me how you read a 60 year old book in its original print." She loves complimenting Yoohyeon, and she doesn't have to look up to know the high of her cheekbones must be colored red by now.

"Well," the little nervous, but proud giggle gives the younger one away, idle fingers tangling in Minji's freshly dyed blonde hair. "I'm not saying I understand everything, but most of it."

"I didn't even understand the title you said."

Their lighthearted laughs fill the warm room, dust dancing in the streaks of the sun beaming through. It's getting stronger and hotter as the calendar gets closer to June, and the thought alone makes Minji smile. She's excited for the upcoming tour, and so are her members as far as she's concerned, and that is all she needs to mentally prepare herself for it.

"I'll teach you some phrases by the time we get to the states." Yoohyeon mentions as if she was reading her thoughts, and Minji pushes herself up so fast into a sitting position that she almost gets dizzy.

"WILL YOU?" she asks, excitement prominent in her voice, desire never once dying to be able to communicate with every Insomnia in english, but feeling like a hopeless case even after years of studying the language.

"Yeah," it's a sweet kiss on her lips that she gets first, and she melts into Yoohyeon. She oddly tastes like blueberry cupcakes, and Minji remembers seeing a wrapping paper crumpled up on the nightstand. She will scold Yoohyeon about that later.

She tastes and feels way too good for Minji to pull away so soon, getting lost in the warmth that Yoohyeon always radiates. It's Yoohyeon who pulls away, a little breathless and a cheesy, very Yoohyeon-like smile appearing on her lips as she does so.

"Tell me something you know."

"Okaaay," Minji starts, repositioning herself to sit on Yoohyeon's lap, facing her, hands traveling up and down the younger's arms. Minji talks with her hands, the younger one noticed that quite a while ago. Whenever she's excited, nervous, sad or energetic. The slim fingers traveling up and down the exposed skin of her arms are telltale signs of Minji's nervousness.

"Hi everyone, I'm charisma rabbit leader, JiU!"

Yoohyeon throws her head back, a throaty giggle escaping her lips, obviously amused and entertained. Minji pouts, but a laugh takes over soon. She knows she needs a lot of improvement.

"Okay, it's not bad!" Yoohyeon manages to get out between sets of little giggles. Her hands come under Minji's shirt, long fingers resting on her ribs. It makes Minji shiver. "You just need to work on the pronunciation a bit!"

"Noted, Miss. Kim." Minji whispers, fingers interlacing behind the younger's neck as she presses a soft kiss to her nose. She loves being close to Yoohyeon.

"What else do you know?" Yoohyeon asks, childlike and curious, obviously eager to teach Minji. The older one knows it's because Yoohyeon loves to feel needed, loves to feel like she's an important addition to the group, and loves to make sure that Minji knows she can rely on her. It's the older's priority to satisfy that need and to make sure Yoohyeon is aware that these facts are all true. She's needed, important and makes Minji feel safe.

"I love you Insomnia!" Minji whisper yells one of her favorite phrases, and the most important one she believes, and Yoohyeon gives her an impressed hum as an answer.

"I also know..." Minji knows it's not the time to get cheesy, but it's her number one personality trait. "You are so beautiful."

She stares straight into Yoohyeon's eyes, the tone of her voice making it sound like what she said is the universal truth, as if nothing and nobody could change her statement. To punctuate her sentence, she presses a firm kiss to Yoohyeon's lips, conveying the same message she just said out loud.

Minji has never been shy to express how good she feels with Yoohyeon. Little satisfied sighs are leaving her mouth when their lips break apart for little breaths of satisfaction. Yoohyeon hums into her mouth, content and stated, finger raking up and down Minji's stomach and ribs.

"Hyeonie," Minji mumbles when the younger's hands get more daring, a little giggle bubbling up from her chest. God they are like horny teenagers sneaking around, with one of their moms being busy in the kitchen that is separated from her room by thin walls and doors without locks.

"M'sorry." the younger pulls away with a pink tint on her cheeks, finding Minji's eyes again. They are a bit darker than they were before. "Go on, babe, what else do you know?"

Minji has to think about what they were going on about before they started to kiss. Then she remembers, "Oh I also know 'I just wanna make you scream.'"

All she gets from Yoohyeon is an eye roll and a scoff, both full of adoration and amusement, because of course Minji would be now bringing up all the English lyrics that she knows.

"Is that really something you want to say to fans?" Yoohyeon raises her eyebrows, giving Minji a questioning look. She has no doubt it would make Somnias go insane.

"No, I want to do that to you." It's easy to fire back, and before they both know it their lips meet again in a kiss full of love. They don't feel the need to take it further, the room too warm and the atmosphere too soft to be broken by desires that they know they will satisfy later into the night anyways.

They break away to catch their breath, lips barely apart from one another, so close you could put a paper in between and it wouldn't fall. Nevertheless Minji has always liked it that way. Being so close to Yoohyeon they breathe the same air in. The question popping up in her head is random but her mouth moves before her brain could think.

"What if we moved to Canada?'' The significant Minji smile appears on her lips, cautious and careful, eyes looking for Yoohyeon's.

The younger looks taken aback at first, but her pupils dilate, obvious to see that images of her and Minji are running through her mind as her nails dig just a bit deeper into the soft skin of Minji's hip.

"And?" it comes out as a soft whisper, dripping in desperation for Minji to continue whatever she was going to say.

"I don't know," the little shrug of Minji's shoulders can't cover the pink dusting her cheeks. Her body language yells that she has spent countless nights thinking about this. "Buy some things we don't need."

Yoohyeon moves her head a bit so that their noses bump together, a small message to Minji that it's okay. It's completely fine that she daydreams about getting away from all the fame and cameras. For the sake of them having a private life, where they openly can love each other. She needs Minji to know that as much as she loves Insomnia, as much as she loves the spotlight and being an idol, sometimes she wishes that as well. Waking up next to Minji, in the same house and same bed, and at the end of the day going home to her. Without being caught up in practices and late night schedules, exchanging chaste kisses and hidden touches of encouragement when nobody is watching.

Sometimes she just wishes their lives were normal.

"We could bring Pie and Cherry." Yoohyeon decides to add eventually when she feels Minji getting a little stiff, almost uncomfortable or guilty blurting out all of those things.

"Your paintbrush," Minji adds nonchalantly, listing off things in her head. "And some candy."

They break out in soft giggles after a moment of silence. It's silly, whatever they are doing right now. It makes them happy nonetheless. Minji gives the younger girl another soft peck on her lips, full of love and warmth. They are not rushing anywhere, they have the whole day to daydream of a world where they can love freely.

"And you know," Yoohyeon breathes out, her lips moving slowly, pressing kisses on Minji's cheek, jawline, ear, anywhere she can reach on her face. "When they talk about those people who just get up and leave..."

She needs Minji to know how much she loves her. She tries her best to convey the message with her lips and no words spoken. Her fingertips are grazing MInji's spine under her clothes and Minji sighs into her hair, content and happy. She loves Yoohyeon so much it hurts to breathe sometimes.

"It could be us." the older adds in a whisper against Yoohyeon's earlobe, causing goosebumps rise under the warm air.

"It could be you and me."
