Not Such A Secret Crush

Summary:

Prompts: Secret Crush and Dancing

Notes:

Written for Allbingo's Valentines Fest.

Work Text:

Natasha sat in the surveillance van and watched Barton as he observed Coulson out of the corner of his eye. She tried not to let on that she knew that Barton had a crush on their superior, because it was obvious that Coulson had no idea his asset was attracted to him. The man was apparently oblivious at how attractive he was. If he'd been her type she'd been tempted to make a play for him herself. She also wouldn't do that to Barton. He'd saved her life in Budapest. She still didn't know why he thought she was worth saving, but she was grateful to be given the chance to join S.H.I.E.L.D.

"Are you two planning to go into the party?" Natasha asked.

"I thought you were going in with me," Clint said, looking puzzled at his new partner.

"Why would I be going in with you?" Natasha asked.

"What am I missing, Agent Romanoff?" Coulson asked.

"Because, sir, if Natasha and I go in there we'd stick out like a sore thumb," Clint said. "Tell me you can dance, Coulson, because if you can't we're screwed."

"I thought Agent Romanoff would go in with you," Coulson said.

"That's clear," Clint said. "You can at least follow, right?"

"I can probably manage," Coulson said.

Clint got out of the driver's seat looking dashing in white tie. Fortunately, Coulson was in a tux in case he'd had to enter the party to assist his assets.

Clint looked desperately over his shoulder at Natasha as he followed Coulson down the stairs of the van.

"Good luck," Natasha mouthed at Clint.

"You're an evil woman," Clint mouthed back.

Natasha grinned back at her partner and hoped that he found the courage to admit his feelings to their boss as they danced.
