Akito Shinonome is a Good Friend (Though he really doesn’t want to be)

Summary:

"It's about An isn't it?"

Kohane startles, turning pink and looking at him in absolute shock as if he hadn't made the most basic observation in existence.

"Y-you know!?" She breathes, hands to her face.

Akito raises an eyebrow, rolling his shoulders as he thinks of how Kohane had practically leaped out of An's arms like a wet bar of soap earlier that day. He crosses his arms.

"You actually flinched whenever An got close to you." He places his hands on his knees, trying to reinitiate uncomfortably intense eye contact with her. "Haven't seen you do that since the haircut."

Tldr: Kohane acts off. Akito confronts her and finds himself horredously unprepared for what follows.

Chapter Text

Akito sits down on the middle of the seesaw, fully intent on staring down the shaking Kohane on the bench until she squeals.

“S-Shininome-kun—” Kohane mutters to her shifting feet.

“Akito.” He corrects.

“A-Akito-kun.” she restarts, and adds nothing more.

Akito sighs.

“We’ve done this song and dance before Kohane, just spill.” He waits a few seconds, enough time for her to tense her shoulders further and hunch into herself. “It’s about An isn’t it?”

Kohane startles, turning pink and looking at him in absolute shock as if he hadn’t made the most basic observation in existence.

“Y-you know!?” She breathes, hands to her face.

Akito raises an eyebrow, rolling his shoulders as he thinks of how Kohane had practically leaped out of An’s arms like a wet bar of soap earlier that day. He crosses his arms.

“You actually flinched whenever An got close to you.” He places his hands on his knees, trying to reinitiate uncomfortably intense eye contact with her. “Haven’t seen you do that since the haircut.”

Kohane meets his eyes for only a moment before looking right back at her laces, fiddling with her fingers. She grimaces before crumpling into a distressed pout, one that makes Akito think of a stressed out hamster.

“I had a… uhm—ah.” Kohane peters out as quick as she begins, flushing a bright red.

And Akito just instinctively knows that they’re going to be here for ages if he doesn’t begin to stack on her.

“Kohane, we’ve gone over this, dreams don’t always make a lot of sense and you’ve said it helps to talk about them,” he sighs heavily, “that’s why we’re here.”

Kohane raises her hands in defense, squeaking out words as if she were being choked.

“I-I know, I—know— but, Akito-kun— it’s embarrassing!”

Akito opens his mouth to once again point out that that’s literally why they’re at this empty goddamn playground while the sun’s setting instead of, literally anywhere else. He thinks of something better though, snapping his mouth shut to properly formulate the thought.

“An noticed,” he begins, “for the record, she was worried when you ran off to the bathroom when she said your name, and especially when you nearly fell off the stage trying to escape her hug. She’s going to blame herself if this doesn’t get sorted.”

This seems to finally convince Kohane. As she tightens her fists and looks at him square on.

“I-I was in a dressing room— I— and I was changing out of my uniform…” She trails off.

Akito only has so much patience.

“Kohane, if you pause at every step we’re never going to actually get anywhere.” In this decade at least.

Kohane starts in her seat.

“An-chan walked in!” She exclaims like some sort of declaration. “She walked in while I was changing!”

Akito actually groans.

“Are you serious—”

“B-but! It w-was weird,” she softly adds.

Akito shuts his trap to let her continue.

“An-chan approached me…” Kohane flushes. “She said I was really cute and that she really liked me.”

Akito controls his first instinct to openly gag, An’s not around to see the theatric and Kohane needs all the encouragement she can get, so he instead clears his throat politely.

“I-I got embarrassed.” Shocker. “And then she asked me what I thought of her. I said she was beautiful and cool and that I also really liked her.”

Akito starts to get an idea in his mind of what’s happening, and he smirks, because if he’s right—

“Then she asked me what I thought of her body.”

Wait what?

The words serve as the equivalent of running over a speed bump at 80 kilometers an hour.

“I told her the truth, that I think it’s very… nice, and she hugged me…” Kohane gulps, a slow thing, before continuing. “I wasn’t wearing my shirt, and her hands started running down my back—” Kohane then fully curls into herself. “Which felt really good,” admits in a small voice.

Wait, wait, wait.

Akito tries to mentally brake the car to get his thoughts in order, because this is looking a little—

“She started whispering into my ear, saying that she really liked my body and—uhm, er.” Kohane takes a full 5 seconds to pause. “She wanted to feel it against hers.”

Akito starts desperately pulling at the emergency brake.

“Kohan—”

Kohane slaps her hands to her cheeks.

The brake breaks, and the car does not slow down.

“She took off her shirt and hugged me again, telling me what she liked about my body.” Kohane’s blush could be heard in her voice, though Akito only barely noticed the fact considering there’s a thousand other things flinging themselves through his mind at top speeds.

The car is hurtling off the roads. Akito panics.

She isn’t even looking at him anymore, straight up reliving the whole—

“She liked that I was small, since she could hold me easier, and she liked my legs, my tummy, my… breasts, everything. She said she liked my skin and how it flushes, she said she wanted to see how it would flush if she made me feel good—”

OH GOD.

Akito tries to think of anything he could say to get her to shut up. Tries to think of the vilest thing to get her ashamed enough to never talk again. He comes up dry.

“—and her hands cupped my—”

OH GOOOOOOOOD.

Akito tries to say something. Anything, because holy shit oh fuck this HAS to stop. He’s getting all kinds of images he doesn’t want to see and he just—

“—I didn’t want her to stop, and I couldn’t really think of anything except her breath on my—”

Akito dumps his head into his hands, trying to tune out the hell he’s found himself in. And what the fuck why is she still talking? Why are his ears so clearly hearing the words she’s saying? WHY?

“—she kept going and it started to become too much as her fingers spread out against my thighs—”

WHY IS SHE STILL TALKING?

Akito’s fingers dig into his face, the pain didn’t make him any less aware.

“—and she was whispering in my ear—”

Akito claws at his face to stop himself from sobbing, why did he ever want to be nice?!

“—Uhm, I didn’t realize I woke up until I stopped screaming…”

Then there was quiet…

The wind blows past them, peaceful and ignorant.

In the distance, he could hear some sort of generator. However, there seemed to be no life around them, no birds, no insects, no voices except for what seemed to be an echo of Kohane’s, or maybe it was the insane looping of his mind.

“…Shinonome-kun?” Kohane squeaks.

Akito, slowly, veeeery slowly, unclenches his hands from his face to peek at her.

Kohane, for lack of any other words, looks mortified. Her hands desperately try to cover her face, though her bright red ears still stand out against her blond hair. She faces her knees, which on closer inspection seem to be shaking.

“It’s weird isn’t it?” She ekes out.

Akito’s silence becomes even more intense. He then remembers where he is, who he is, and why he’s here in the first place.

“Did. Your. Parents. Not. Hear?” He manages to grind out.

“T-they’re—” Kohane starts, voice a solid 5 pitches above normal. She snaps her mouth shut, swallows. “Usually very heavy sleepers.” She finishes only 2 pitches above normal.

“Why didn’t you go to them?” From what he knows, her folks are probably more understanding—

Kohane pales.

“No! That would be— no!” She shakes both her fists up and down as if holding maracas. “That’s way too embarrassing!”

And this isn’t?!

“Of course.” Akito dryly responds.

He stares at the ground between them.

It could also be that she knows he’s… No, she doesn’t, it’s not possible.

He hears Kohane shuffle awkwardly, and then:

“What… what do you think it means?” She asks, so genuinely, so cautiously, as if she didn’t just ask the most stupid question in existence following what felt like the most horrible 5 or so minutes of Akito’s life.

Akito continues to stare at the ground.

“Please,” he begs the non existent gods up above for mercy. “Tell me you’re joking.”

“…I don’t… understand?” They laugh in his face.

Akito practically folds himself in two, burying his head in his arms.

“Shinonome-kun?”

“Akito.”

“Akito-kun?”

He knows he only has himself to blame, but Akito doesn’t want to accept the fact, so he skips over blaming Kohane and blames An instead. That makes him feel a little better. Then an image of her flashes in his mind, and he barely contains his retch.

“It’s called a wet dream,” he says, though he refuses to acknowledge it’s him saying it.

Kohane lets out a little “ah,” and he could just feel her perking up as she realises he has the answer she’s looking for once again.

Akito the always right. Akito the all-knowing. Akito the ever so reliable. Akito the doesn’t want to fucking have this converSATION—

“That makes sense!” She exclaims. “Considering—”

He unfurls himself quickly, interrupting her before he gets even more visuals that he does not want.

“They’re dreams that make you or—” he hacks, he’s going to fucking tell her if he has to drag the word out his throat himself, anything to make this end faster. “—Org—asm.”

“Oh? Like men do? But what’s the use—”

He brings a hand up to shield his face like he would to the sun, glaring holes into the ground again.

“Look it up,” he deadpans. “Point is, you got excited and all that.” He bats at the air.

“From An-chan?”

Yes.”

“B-but?! Why?!”

Why does she sound so baffled? WHY does he have to EXPLAIN THIS to her?

“Want my guess?” He doesn’t give her a chance to respond. “You think she’s—” he shudders. “Attractive.”

“I— An-chan?! But she’s a girl?!”

“Oh my god.”

Akito inhales deeply, he exhales slowly.

“Aki—”

“Yes she is. And you are attracted to her.”

“But i’m a girl? I’m not supposed to—”

“There are just girls who like other girls like that, and guys who like other guys like that too. Hell, some like both. They exist.”

Kohane goes silent at this.

“Happy?”

Kohane eventually nods, and since she’s no longer in a semi-fetal position, he takes it as a win.

An awful win.

A win he’d give everything to take back.

“I’ll be going then.” He just barely stops himself from booking it out of the park, settling for a faster than normal speed-walk. Kohane can figure the rest out for herself.

Surely.

Hopefully.

“Ah! Thank you Akito-kun!” He hears her shout behind him.

He has so much to bleach from his mind.
