Work Text:
It feels like today is raining with acid burning down whole past and all memories - that's why Seledine doesn't understand where she is and what's going on. How Kentin can be dead? She've texted with him a moment ago... His words are still here, his smiling photo, the teddy bear on a drawer. How Seledine can be at alive's man funeral?
They told her that he killed himself. That he opened his arms like a bird ready to fly and jumped of the roof, right into golden sunset. Impossible, there's no sun. It's been raining for days. Why's everyone in the church? Why someone lit the candles? And why is so stuffy in here...? Right, lilies... They're everywhere, white flood is drowning the blakc box, because of that smell Seledine can't breath... She wants to scream - "I can't breath! I can't breath!" - but fear's icy fingers are grasping her throat. So she's just holding Castiel's hand, weirdly cold. Why didn't she hold Kentin's hand? Why is he sleeping? Everyone's wating for him to wake up.
That black suit looks riddiculous. Ken hates formal clothes, Seledine remembers his blush when she convinced him to try on one. Why wouldn't he open his eyes? His eyelids are so pale, white as lilies petals. Seledine has no idea how did she get in here - she've just been sitting on hidden in shadow mahogany bench, but now the whole church is behind her back, Castiel dissapeared (who's Castiel anyway?), Ken is so close and he's not smiling. Is he mad at her? She didn't do anything mean... He's her best friend. More than friend. She always knew it. She was missing him that whole year he left, when Kentin was so short and inconspicuous-looking, hiding his beautiful eyes behind the glasses.
"Open your eyes", whispers Seledine. Ken looks like a sleeping prince on ebony bed, surrounded by white flowers. He's holding a snow-white rose in his hands; his fngers are even whiter.
He must feel so cold, thinking's Seledine. He would freeze to death.
She has to wake him up. She've never had a courage, being to afraid that it may destroy their friendship, but...
Seledine's leaning towards Ken and kissin his lips, still red. Cold. She's touching his chest. Silence. White rose petal's falling silently. They told her that Ken killed himself. He one had told her - and she thought he was joking - that he'll trade his whole life for one kiss of her. Whose tears are running down his cheeks, smelling like a lilies, shining like a diamonds in candlelight? Kentin would never let her cry alone. He would hug her, close her in his warm, strong arms, he would protect her from the whole world.
Some people are pulling her away, Seledine's letting them lead her like a walking doll. What happened? Ken, what are you dreaming about? White lilies and roses? Are they whitering? Is that what's makes you cry? Seleidne's looking back and she sees that they're closing Ken inside the black box, crushing him with waterfall of whitered lilies and ebony ribbons.
"NO!" her scream's cutting the air into silky shreds, Castiel's hands are holding her with iron strenght, he won't let her go. "STOP! HE CAN'T BREATH!!!"
"He's dead" saying Castiel. "Calm down! He's already dead, Seledine!"
And you're the one who killed him, says icy smell of lilies.
Seledine's falling on her knees, screaming with tears, and everything's blacking out. When she's waking up, there's no candles, flowers nor Ken, nor ebony box. There's only suffocating scent of mourning flowers...
