Workplace Etiquette
Yeonoh was never one to decline physical touches. He loved it. Everytime Jaehyuk so much as grazed his skin, his heart went into overdrive and his whole body was on fire. And it wasn’t just physical, the touches put his mind at ease like no medication had ever been able to.
And that was amazing.
At home, that is..
The issue was that, for the vice-president of a huge company, Jaehyuk seemed to have a lot of free time. He would show up on set, unannounced, or appear at the broadcasting station. And with no regard for the time and place, he never failed to ask for a kiss.
Yeonoh was already having a hard time acting nonchalant around him, as it was. So saying no, when Jaehyuk was being adorable and asking for permission was nearly impossible. And when he took too long to think about it, the man had already managed to sneak a kiss. Proud of himself, he would go on as if nothing happened, leaving Yeonoh a blushing and stuttering mess.
Unfair.
He couldn’t deny that Jaehyuk had a talent for being sneaky, but the more he did it, the bolder he got. And Yeonoh wouldn’t be surprised if in two months’ time, Jaehyuk just grab and kiss him in front of the whole crew. A part of his brain, filled with fantasies he couldn’t even admit to himself, adored the idea. The functioning, reasonable part of his brain, was horrified at the prospect.
But I like it when he kisses me. He sighed, fidgeting with the wine glass in his hands. And it’s exciting to be living a secret love affair…
Although he knew that if Jaehyuk could get his way, they would get married and announce it to the world. Something he wouldn’t mind either…
This was the only downside to his celebrity status: not being able to go out and date comfortably like most people did. And the fact they were both men made things a lot harder. Even once he was ready to put his career aside to focus on his private life, it would become a public affair. And he was not looking forward to it.
Right now, all they could do for dates was either rent private rooms, the whole place (Jaehyuk’s favourite option of the two but it was a bit much for him), go overseas where it was easier to be incognito or lastly, stay home.
Tonight they had chosen to stay home, and after eating the dinner jaehyuk had cooked for them, they were now cuddling on the couch, watching a movie of Yeonoh’s choosing, a glass of wine in hand.
Fifteen minutes into it, Yeonoh rested his legs on Jaehyuk’s lap and occasionally, the businessman would caress his ankle, sending tingles through his whole body. It felt nice but he wished the fingers would comb through his hair instead, caressing his nape and playing with his ears.
Surely, Jaehyuk wouldn’t mind.
He shifted his legs in a manner he meant to be subtle, slowly sliding them off of Jaehyuk’s lap, and put his glass down. Once that was done he crawled to his boyfriend, sat on the other end of the couch. The man was watching him from the corner of his eyes, an amused smile dancing on his lips. Yeonoh’s ears started tingling as the heat crept up his neck. Even after being together for a long time, he couldn’t help getting shy around Jaehyuk. He had no control over the butterflies that invaded his stomach every time he saw him. And he could never admit to how it felt once they did so much as graze each other’s skin. This was only for him to know and keep secret.
Jaehyuk never commented on it, but his knowing smile said it all. He knew Yeonoh was smitten with him and he loved it. He would let him go at his own pace and anything the actor initiated, he would give back ten folds.
And tonight was no exception.
So when he rested his head in Jaehyuk’s lap, soft fingers immediately ran through his hair. softly massaging his scalp. The familiar touch was so soothing, Yeonoh couldn’t help but close his eyes and sigh in contentment. He didn’t even pay attention to the movie anymore, it felt like his whole body was melting.
When the fingers touched his ear and played with his lobe, he raised his shoulders by reflex.
“It tingles.” He mumbled through a giggle. How Jaehyuk could even understand what he’d said, he had no idea. But soft lips planted a chaste kiss on his cheek before whispering a “sorry” in his ear.
He giggled again, and stroked the thigh he was resting on. His way of showing his appreciation for the cuddles he was getting. But his resolution was no match to the absolute relaxation that came from Jaehyuk caressing his nape. He felt tingles run down his spine and into every fibre of his body and it wasn’t long until he could hear the sound of his own snoring. He tried to chase the drowsiness away but to no avail.
When he woke up the next morning, Yeonoh was safely tucked into bed. Jaehyuk was nowhere to be seen but remnants of him were everywhere. Yeonoh flipped to his other side and grabbed the pillow his boyfriend slept on. Whenever he would wake up or go to sleep on his own, he would bury his face into it and inhale the familiar scent. It wasn’t as nice as being directly in Jaehyuk’s arms but it did the trick when he missed him.
Once he was woken up enough to function, Yeonoh dragged his body to the shower and then the kitchen. In each room, he found a little post-it left behind by Jaehyuk, wishing him a good day, reminding him to take his vitamins and telling him there was breakfast for him. All the different little ways in which Jaehyuk let it known that he loved him.
He smiled as he read the last one. These little notes made it feel like Jaehyuk was right here with him. And every time the businessman was away on a trip, he would hide even more of these everywhere around the house. Some in obvious places, and others not. Making it so that Yeonoh would always be reminded of him.
The actor loved it when he was persuaded he’d found them all, only to be proven wrong when he went to get some paper towel or shoe wax, days , weeks or even months later.. Sometimes they would find one together, making them laugh.
As for Yeonoh, his way of keeping connected with his boyfriend was to send him pics of what he was doing throughout the day. Sometimes with little paragraphs to give more context, but often, it was just a bunch of emojis. And it was fun seeing Jaehyuk try to understand and reply using emojis as well. More often than not, he would put them in an unfortunately suggestive sequence and Yeonoh could easily imagine the scowl of concentration on his face as he did so.
“Ah, I wanna see him already.” He sighed, slouching against the back of his chair. Maybe it was because he fell asleep while they were watching tv and couldn’t bid him goodnight properly last night, but he missed him.
“When did I get so clingy?!” He chuckled derisively. At times, he still felt insecure about making the first step. He was scared of being too much.
It was no doubt a remnant of the rocky start of their relationship.
But would Jaehyuk really see it that way? Things were different now that they were in a long-term relationship. Their bond was stronger than ever before and Jaehyuk was the first one to show up at his workplace, eager to offer him words of encouragement or steal a kiss or two. Unknowingly making his whole day.
He wished his insecurity wouldn’t get in the way of him doing the same and surprising him at work. He wanted to go see him with a coffee, watch over him as he worked late and kiss his temples when the fatigue started getting to him.
Unfortunately, right now, all he could manage was sending a couple texts and pictures.
He sighed, he hated how meek he acted at times. Especially as he didn’t doubt Jaehyuk’s feelings one bit. It was just hard putting himself in a position where he could be rejected.
“Screw it!” Yeonoh got up. “What’s the point of wallowing in self-pity?! I should just go if I want to see him. It’s not a crime and if he doesn't like it then I'll advise on what to do.”
Filled with new-found determination, Yeonoh immediately went to get ready, he slipped on Jaehyuk’s black turtleneck and a pair of jeans. He did his hair and sprayed on a bit of cologne. He might be overdoing it but it couldn’t hurt to put all the chances on his side.
On his way to Jaehyuk’s office, he stopped to get coffee and dinner for him. He let the assistant know he was on his way and she was there to greet him when he arrived.
“I brought him a meal, could you bring it to him later?” He asked her.
“Actually, he was about to take his break now, so you can take it in.” She let him know with a smile.
“Taking his break at noon, that’s good.” He chuckled.
“It’s not always the case though.” She sighed. “Sometimes I have to fight him to make him stop and eat something. So I’m glad you’re here, today.” She breathed a sigh of relief.
“I’ll talk to him.” Yeonoh half-sighed, half-laughed.
He felt a bit guilty. Surely, if Jaehyuk spent less time coming to see him, he wouldn’t have to rush his deadlines like that.
“It’s greatly appreciated, thank you.” She chuckled. “I’ll be outside if you need me.”
“Thank you.” He bowed politely.
He knocked on the massive door and entered without waiting for an answer. Jaehyuk was at his desk, so absorbed in the task he was doing, he hadn’t even heard him enter.
Taking a break, my ass! He thought.
“Are you going to ignore me for long?” He asked, feigning annoyance.
Blue eyes shot up immediately, and the scowl of concentration turned into surprise.
“Yeonoh?”
“If you can’t even recognise me anymore, you really need the break.” He teased him.
He was walking towards him but before he could reach the desk, Jaehyuk had gotten up and met him halfway.
“That’s a nice surprise.” He smiled.
And Yeonoh felt the familiar butterflies in his stomach.
“I can’t say the same. Apparently, you’re forgetting to eat!” He scolded him, a finger stabbing at the hard chest in front of him.
“That’s a bit rich coming from you.” Jaehyuk raised an eyebrow.
“I made an effort!” He contested. “You should know, I send you pics of my meals every single day.”
“After I insisted you do so.”
“And since it works, that’s what I’m going to do with you too!”
They were so close now, their noses were almost bumping. Blue eyes were fixed on hazel ones and their breaths were synchronised. Jaehyuk slid an arm around his waist and held him closer, bumping their foreheads together.
“Is there enough for the two of us?” Jaehyuk asked him.
“There should be.” Yeonoh giggled.
“Then let’s eat together.”
“Sure.”
Yeonoh stood on his toes to plant a kiss on Jaehyuk’s lips. But his boyfriend wasn't satisfied with just that, he grabbed his face between his palms and kissed his whole face. Yeonoh tried to free himself from his grasp, twisting around as an uncontrollable laugh escaped his lips.
“It tickles!”
“But the more you giggle, the more I want to kiss you.” Jaehyuk said against his ear before slightly biting it.
“You need to eat and get back to work, we can do this at home tonight.” Yeonoh chuckled.
“I’d rather cuddle with you than eat.”
“No.” Yeonoh pushed his face off with his hands clasped on Jaehyuk’s mouth
“If you eat, I’ll sit on your lap while you work.” Yeonoh offered.
Jaehyuk considered the offer for a second before a grin broke on his face.
“Sounds like a good deal.”
He freed Yeonoh’s face but grabbed his hand to lead him to the coffee table. They sat on the couch next to one another and Yeonoh unpacked the meal.
“Did you really buy that much just for me?” Jaehyuk asked with a knowing smile. Yeonoh’s face heated up, he couldn’t deny anything as he took out two servings of each dish.
“Well, I was planning on studying my script today and figured I could do this here, in your office.” He did not look in Jaehyuk’s direction, until a hand firmly turned his face. He didn’t have time to register what was happening that Jaehyuk was kissing him, his tongue entering his mouth and eagerly moving against his. By the time Jaehyuk pulled away, Yeonoh was feeling dizzy.
“Thank you for coming.” Jaehyuk said, planting one last kiss on his lips before starting to eat.
“My pleasure.” Yeonoh blabbered, still in a daze.
“Are you ok?” Jaehyuk laughed. “It’s not like it’s our first kiss.”
“But I was unsure whether you’d be happy to see me or not, so I guess I’m relieved.” Yeonoh admitted. Jaehyuk stopped chewing and looked at him with soft eyes.
“Why would I not want you around when I'm the first one running to you, while you work?” He reassured him. “I’m so hooked on you, my secretary actually threatened to lock me up in my office to get me to do my job.”
Yeonoh’s cheeks rose up, he felt so warm hearing how much Jaehyuk craved his presence.
“I like it when you come.” He told his boyfriend. “But I do worry about you taking too much time off to see me, and then having to over exert yourself to meet your deadlines. And while I'm happy to see you at my workplace, you’re getting too comfortable and that’s stressing me out.”
There was silence and Yeonoh felt his stomach churn. He hadn’t meant to say all of that, he just meant to say he liked to see him too.
Shit, what do I do now ?
“Sorry.” Jaehyuk told him. “I tend to forget my surroundings whenever I'm with you. I’ll be careful.”
“It’s not that I hate it. But if someone catches us…” Yeonoh tried to soften the blow, feeling bad. “If my career didn’t depend on it, I would kiss you any place, any time.”
“That’s fine, Yeonoh.” Jaehyuk put his hand on top of his. “I’m not mad, I understand. I’m the one that has been inconsiderate.”
“But it doesn’t mean you can't come!” Yeonoh insisted, heart beating hard in his chest. Truth be told, he’d be sad if Jaehyuk stopped showing up.
“Then, how much is reasonable?” Jaehyuk asked him, with an amused smile.
“When we’re in my dressing room, we can kiss all we want. But around others, you need to stick to touching my upper back, or shoulders. It should be fine for you to wrap your arm around my shoulders too.“ Yeonoh listed, blushing as he did so. “You can drink from my cup too, and use my lip balm, and…” His eyes met Jaehyuk’s gaze, who smiled.
“What?” He asked.
“You’re adorable.” Jaehyuk explained. “That’s why I can’t help but be all over you, all the time.”
“I think you’re very lovely too.” Yeonoh said in one breath.
“Is that why you came today?” Jaehyuk grinned.
He nodded.
“I heard you when you said we couldn’t kiss at your job. But what about mine?”
Jaehyuk looked at him with a barely hidden smirk that made his whole body flush.
“Well…” He cleared his throat, avoiding the piercing blue eyes that made his stomach twist in knots. “It’s a private office, with wooden doors that can be locked and anyone that comes in, needs to warn you first, so… it should be okay.”
“And what about what we did, here, on this couch last time?” Jaehyuk got closer to him. “Is that ok too?”
If Yeonoh had been blushing before, he now looked like he was literally on fire.
Vivid memories were rushing back of the first time Jaehyuk had brought him to his new office. They had been newly reconciled then and were constantly all over each other. So what had started as an innocent cuddle on the couch, had ended up as a steamy session all around Jaehyuk’s office. The first of many. Truth be told, Yeonoh couldn’t remember a time where they stopped by Jaehyuk’s office where they hadn’t gotten a little handsy.
“Well it was at night, when everybody else had gotten home already.” He stuttered as Jaehyuk started planting kisses on his neck.
“Mmh but today is the first day I didn’t have to drag you here, so it’s special.” The businessman whispered in his ear and a hand slid to his inner thigh. “It’s only polite that I show you my gratitude.”
Yeonoh could have tried to reason with him but deep down, he wanted this too. So why waste any time? The only thing was that he felt bad for the assistant, who seemed to believe he could help change Jaehyuk’s bad habits.
“Just once, then you need to get back to work.”
“Of course, I just need to get it out of my system, once should be enough.” Jaehyuk smiled innocently.
“I’m serious, otherwise your assistant will hate me and she’s nice, so I don’t want that to happen.”
“Sure.” Jaehyuk absentmindedly said as his hand slipped under Yeonoh’s clothes.
“Ah, you’re really something.” Yeonoh sighed in resignation.
He let himself be pulled into Jaehyuk’s lap and wrapped his arms around him. His boyfriend did not let up for a second, kissing every inch of his skin visible, and leaving a trail of tingles in his wake. It wasn’t long before Yeonoh was a blushing and giggling mess. Like he always was with Jaehyuk.
“If you keep being this adorable, I won't be able to stop at one round.” Jaehyuk warned him.
“I forgot to bring dessert, so we can add another round to compensate for that.” Yeonoh suggested with a chuckle.
And it was all that Jaehyuk needed to sink his claws into the willing deer.
