the high elder is drunk

Summary:

Dan Feng had a bit too much to drink and went to find Yingxing.

Work Text:

Vidyadhara don't get drunk easily but when they do, they tend to be very affectionate to the one they like; Dan Feng included.

When the High Elder had a bit too much, he sneaked from Scalegorge and headed to the Artisanship Commission to find Yingxing.

The craftsman have long heard of the Vidyadhara's tendency to do this when they imbibe too much alcohol so he was not surprised; but he was astonished that this particular Vidyadhara Elder who had always put on a serious face and criticized the way he did things, ended up here.

Knocking on his door, smelling faintly of floral osmanthus wine, his cheeks and ears pink and flushed. Dan Feng was unhesitant and quite shameless about his desire. He muttered a 'kiss me, now' and stared up at the craftsman's face.

The Vidyadhara's lips pursed, curved, pouted gently, and the craftsman could not resist either; he gave one kiss, and another, before the two were tightly pressed together against the wall of the house. The Vidyadhara also liked their hair touched, their horns too, in this state.

And Yingxing did just that. He stroked the fine lengths of Dan Feng's hair, in between kisses, marveling at how soft that hair was. If water could feel like silk, it would be how it wove like glittering waves around his fingers, Yingxing thought.

He broke their kiss, and kissed one of Dan Feng's horns, gently because he'd never done this before - the coldness of the horn's exterior touched his lips, the texture he felt was as smooth as kissing the most precious, and luxurious jade. He heard Dan Feng's breathing quicken.

Even the fierce and stern Imbibitor Lunae became tender and adoring in his arms like this. That mouth which chanted the deadliest cloudhymn magic, hands which drove sharp spears into his enemies - were now kissing the craftsman back, touching him in return with sweet yearning.

"That's enough," Yingxing said, stopping their kisses. "You can't stay here tonight."

"They won't look for me," Dan Feng protested, his eyebrows lowering, his lips thinning. He was still drunk. When did Yingxing smell so intoxicating? Dan Feng's head swirled.

He can't remember if he ever did confess his liking. The craftsman must be shocked at this gesture. Slowly, Dan Feng lowered his arms. Only for Yingxing to pull him closer.

"I know what your heart wants," Yingxing laughed, "You are easy to read. But you can't stay tonight."

Dan Feng was silent.

Was he rejected? Yingxing did not let him go, and he was still held in the man's embrace.

"We can meet tomorrow night. There's something I must do tonight." The craftsman promised. It sated the dragon's heart some and Dan Feng returned to the Palace.

There's still sometime before he can call this man his true beloved. But Dan Feng knew the path that both of them will walk on, will be a thorny one.

As he returned to Scalegorge, one nagging thought clung to Dan Feng's mind.

What was Yingxing hiding from him?
