It was the middle of the night. Luz lay awake, thoughts running through her mind. Is Eda and King ok? Will she ever see them again? How were Luz and the others going to get back to the demon realm? It had been a few days since the day of unity and those thoughts were constantly living in her head. It was hard for her to get any sleep, the thoughts keeping her up.
She looked around her room seeing Amity and Willow sleeping on different beds next to her, she had guessed that Vee was probably sleeping as well since Luz could not see Vee on the top bunk.
Luz kept trying to sleep but she couldn't, those thoughts were haunting her. Then Luz remembered something she used to do, before Luz had discovered the demon realm Luz did something where if she couldn't sleep because of something that had happened that day, or something was keeping her awake, she would go down to the kitchen and make herself a snack to get her mind off things (Luz wasn't really able to do this in the demon realm, there wasn't a whole ton of food that was edible for her, and she didn't want to waste any that were already at the owl house).
So Luz quietly got up out of the bunk bed and out her room, headed down the stairs to the kitchen.
Luz made her way down stairs. Despite not being able to sleep she was really tired. She didn't realize how tired she was until she got up and started going downstairs.
Luz tiredly made her way to the kitchen and turned on the light. Once she did she saw someone at the table and got startled "ACK!-" Luz quickly realized it was Hunter. "I'm sorry Hunter, I didn't expect anyone to be there" Luz chuckled a little awkwardly, she felt embarrassed for screaming when she saw Hunter.
"Oh! Uh- It's fine" Hunter said, seemingly startled himself.
For a few seconds they were just staring at each other, not really knowing what to do until Luz broke the silence "so.. why are you up?"
Hunter seemed kind of scared almost "I just couldn't sleep" Luz knew it was more than that. "What about you?" Hunter asked, looking up at Luz.
"Same reason" Luz said with a frown on her face. They both stood there in awkward silence for a few minutes until Luz finally said something "I was gonna make myself a snack, do you want one?" Luz offered.
"What Are you making?" Hunter asked.
"Some ramen" Luz said, forgetting they didn't have that in the demon realm.
"What?" Hunter asked, confused about whatever ramen was.
"Ohh right, you guys don't have anything like ramen on the boiling isles" they both got quite when Luz had mentioned the boiling isles. Luz knew despite Hunters life on the boiling isles being not that great he still missed it, she knew that he still had attachments to things even if they were the reason for his life being not that great.
“Could I try some?” Hunter asked, curious on what it tasted like.
“Sure!” Luz replied. “I just need to make it first, it should only take a few minutes”
Hunter watched in silence as Luz made the ramen.
It was almost annoying how silent it was. They both wanted to talk about something, they both knew what it was.
Finally Luz got done making the ramen. She split the ramen into two bowls,got forks, set one bowl and fork down in front of Hunter, Sat down across from him and set the other bowl and fork in front of her.
They both sat there, staring at the bowls and each other.
Eventually Luz started eating her ramen. Hunter looked at his bowl, and then watched Luz eat. Luz noticed that Hunter wasn't eating. “You don't have to eat it if you don't want to”
“It's not that..” Hunter looked to the side, he seemed almost.. uncomfortable?
Luz looked at Hunter a little concerned “do you wanna talk about it?”
Hunter looked at Luz, then at his bowl of ramen, like he was preparing to get yelled at. “I.. miss Belos.”
“And that's ok,” Luz said.
Hunter looked up at Luz, surprised at her response. “B-but he was a witch hunter! He killed so many people, and he tried to kill us! And-”
“And he was also the one who raised you, Hunter.” Luz cut Hunter off. “It's ok to miss someone even if they hurt you.”
Hunter stared at Luz, still surprised. Tears started to form in the corners of his eyes. “R-really..?”
Luz watched as Hunter quickly wiped the tears off his eyes. “Really.”
Hunter looked at Luz with a tired smile “I don't want the others to know..”
Luz smiled back at Hunter. “Don't worry, I won't tell them unless you want me to.”
“thanks..”
“No problem,” Luz replied.
Hunter took a bite of his ramen “this stuff is really good!”
Luz chuckled. “Glad you like it” Luz thought to herself for a moment. “Say, whenever one of us wants to talk, we meet back here and make ramen?”
“Sounds like a plan.” Hunter replied.
