Work Text:

Moonlight spilled across the marble floors of the decadent ballroom, casting a silvery sheen over Talia Kane's figure as she descended the grand staircase. She was the embodiment of high society grace, her gown hugging each curve with deliberate precision, the fabric shimmering like the night sky. A murmur of appreciation rippled through the gathering, and from her vantage point, Laurel could see heads turning, eyes following Talia with admiration and not-so-subtle desire.

Laurel stood in the corner of the crowded room, her Daily Planet lanyard hung from her neck, dressed to blend in rather than to stand out. Her gaze was hawk-like, intense and unwavering as she monitored every interaction from behind her champagne flute, her attention divided between Talia and her target, the man in the gaudy red suit. Talia did not have to wait long for the man to come up to her and strike up a conversation. Laurel watched transfixed on the way Talia tilted her head in feigned interest, laughter spilling from her lips like music, all the while drawing whispers of interest from the lips of the other elite. It wasn't often that Talia Kane showed herself at one of these events, she was much more private and avoidant of the spotlight than any of her sisters. But that was the point, they needed all eyes on Talia for any of this to work.

As Talia played her part flawlessly, ensnaring the partygoers with her allure and wit, Laurel couldn't shake the tendrils of jealousy that coiled in her stomach. It was irrational, she knew, to feel this way when Talia was on a mission, but the sight of men leaning a little too close, their eyes lingering a fraction too long, ignited an ember of possessiveness within her.

Laurel had been so caught up in the unwanted attention Talia was receiving that she almost missed her cue, Jacqui, knocking into the crimson dressed man as he flirted with Talia. Laurel used her heightened vision to watch as their team captain very delicately pulled a USB from the man's pocket as she apologized profusely. Once far enough away she signaled that they had what they needed. Catching Talia's eye, Laurel gave a silent nod before springing into action with the rest of their team. In just a few short minutes, they had sealed the fate of the insidious criminal syndicate lurking beneath the guise of civility at the event.

The ride back to their base was mostly silent. Laurel sat with a pout, her expression catching Talia's confused gaze every now and then. "Is something bothering you?" Talia finally asked, breaking the awkward stillness. Laurel shook her head in response, averting her gaze, choosing instead to stare out the window. She knew it was silly being mad over something Talia had absolutely no control over but she wasn't being rational. Emotions were rarely logical. "Fine suit yourself but I can tell you're upset about something," Talia resigned.

"Laurel's just jealous because of all the attention you were getting, Tal," Laurel flinched at Jess' teasing remark.

"It's not like I wanted attention!" Laurel exclaimed, crossing her arms over her chest defensively, "I was just offended...for Talia. The way they looked at her was just gross. She should have told them to back off."

"Geeze, you two are constantly at each other's throats bickering. You're just making up reasons to fight now." Laurel opened and closed her mouth in shock at Jacqui's harsh words, unable to come up with a decent retort.

"We don't always fight," Laurel muttered beneath her breath and blush spreading across her cheeks.

Once they arrived at their base, Laurel quickly made her exit, she was ready to get out of her stupid office clothes and into her Supergirl uniform. Talia followed a few paces behind her, leaving the rest of their team behind as well to debrief with their leader. Laurel speed up, not really wanting to continue their from where their previous conversation left off. She had desperately hoped that Talia would drop it and switch focus to going on patrol but that didn't seem to be panning out. "Laurel," Talia called out as she caught up to her teammate. Laurel kept walking, she was almost to her bedroom door, it would have been so easy to outpace her but the Talia would know for certain that Laurel was avoiding her. "Laurel Ella Kent." Laurel stopped dead in her tracks but didn't turn around to face Talia. "What's really bothering you?" Talia asked softly as she reached out to gently touch Laurel's arm.

Laurel finally turned around, facing Talia with a mix of embarrassment and frustration in her eyes. "It's nothing...just..." her words trailed off as she noticed Klarienne sauntering by. Without waiting for a response, Laurel quickly pulled Talia into her room. She could feel Talia's expectant gaze on her as she closed the door behind them. Finally alone and behind closed doors, Laurel's resolve crumbled, "did you have to be so-"

"So what?" Talia prodded, a knowing glint in her eye.

"Hot," Laurel finally managed to breathe out, her voice barely above a whisper.

Talia's lips curved into an alluring smile, "you think I'm hot?" she echoed back.

"How could I not?" Laurel inched closer, tucking a stray strand of hair behind Talia's ear, "you're my girlfriend after all."

Talia slowly turned her back towards Laurel, sweeping her long brown hair to one side, before sliding her fingers over the top of the zipper at the back of her dress. "You know, I wore this for you," she murmured, her voice soft but laden with intent. "Every second tonight, I was imagining you taking it off of me Beloved." A mischievous glint sparked in her emerald eyes as she tilted her head just so, gazing back at Laurel with a sultry smile, "won't you help me out of it?"

Laurel's heart skipped a beat as Talia's words echoed in her mind. She could feel the heat rising in her cheeks, a blush spreading like wildfire across her face. Excitement coursed through her body, causing a fluttering sensation in the pit of her stomach. She knew it was risky, the team could come looking for them at any moment, yet the thought of "helping" Talia out of her dress was too tempting to resist. She stepped closer, her hands trembling as she reached for the zipper at the back of Talia's dress. The fabric felt smooth beneath her fingers as she slowly pulled it down, revealing more and more of Talia's bare skin. Every inch revealed took Laurel's breath away, making her heart pound faster with desire.

As the zipper reached its end, Talia's dress fell to the floor in a pool of fabric, leaving her standing before Laurel in nothing but her lace lingerie. The intensity of their kiss only grew as they surrendered to their desires, lost in the moment together. Talia quickly whipped around, her lips pressing to Laurel's with urgency.

Without breaking their kiss, Talia guided Laurel towards the bed with the precision only someone trained to fight blind could have. Her hands trailing down Laurel's back as they stumbled onto the mattress together, Talia's hands moved to the hem of Laurel's blouse, slowly lifting it up and over her head before tossing it aside.

Laurel could feel her heart racing as Talia’s lips moved from her mouth to her neck, leaving a trail of hot kisses that sent shivers down her spine. It didn't matter how many times they had been together like this, it always felt fresh and exhilarating, as if their bodies were rediscovering each other all over again. Every touch, every kiss was like a new discovery, igniting a fire within her that burned brighter with each passing moment.

Just as Laurel was beginning to lose herself to the ecstacy of the moment, a sharp knock on the door snapped her back to reality. "Laurel?" Gigi's voice rang out from the other side, "Jacqui needs you in the briefing room."

With a start, Laurel scrambled to her feet, her heart racing with adrenaline. "Ummm...just a minute! I'm changing!" Her words came out rushed and frantic as she quickly tried to gather the pieces to her uniform. Talia did the same, moving with practiced efficiency. Thankfully, had been carrying her uniform in a duffle, never one to be caught unprepared.

"Ok!" Laurel sighed with relief as she heard Gigi's footsteps fading away down the hallway only to freeze once more when they came back with more urgency, "wait. Have you seen Talia?"

The two women exchanged alarmed glances in silence, finally Laurel blurted out, "She's here. She's...changing too."

"Ok great! Jacqui needs you both." To both of their relief, Gigi didn't seem fazed by this information at all.

"We'll be right there," Talia spoke up finally, her voice calm despite the tension in the room. Talia turned her stoic gaze upon Laurel, who had resumed her pouting. "What's wrong now?"

"It's just...how much longer can we keep this a secret?" Laurel let out a frustrated sigh.

"As long as possible," Talia responded with a shrug. "It would only be a liability if we were to reveal ourselves. We have enough to worry about already."

Laurel's heart sank at the thought of their relationship remaining hidden forever. The weight of secrecy felt heavy on her shoulders, like an unspoken burden that they both carried. She knew Talia had her reasons and that what she said made sense, despite this, she couldn't help but ask, "but...isn't it exhausting always having to hide?"

Talia's expression softened as she sensed Laurel's trepidation. "I know it's not ideal, but think about it this way...secrets can be exciting , can they not?" A small smile tugged at the corners of Laurel's lips at Talia's words, she always had a way of making everything sound more romantic than it was. Talia leaned in closer, the soft touch of her lips on Laurel's reigniting the fiery passion within her. "Plus, I must admit, I do enjoy watching you get jealous." Talia added with a mischievous glint in her eye.

Laurel couldn't help but laugh at the teasing tone in her voice, feeling a rush of butterflies fluttering around in her stomach. Together, they walked towards the debriefing room, their laughter echoing through the hallway and filling the air with joy. As they moved, their intertwined fingers felt like a perfect fit. Laurel could live with this for now, a secret that only they shared.
