He knew that his heart would give away the bluff no matter what he said. The way it twisted, pounding against his ribs, a fist beating against a cage with the very desperation Jon accused him of.
“I don't. Call it a scientific curiosity.”

“You are going to move on with your life, make up for your lost time,” He sighs. “I will be left alone, as always,” The two are silent, and Jonathan turns his eyes back to the screen. “It’s unfair, isn’t it,” Damian continues, “That I am the only bat without friends? Maybe it is the price I pay for my mother and grandfather,”
Damian lets his hand trail further up Jonathan’s thigh. He doesn’t seem to notice, or if he does, Jonathan doesn’t understand. “Dami, you know I’d never leave you,” Jonathan chuckles nervously.
Damian lets his eyes go lidded, looking up at Jonathan as pathetically as he can make himself. “Prove it,” He demands, closing his grip on Jonathan’s thigh, really letting him know the intentions. “Prove to me you won’t leave,”

MARCH 31ST, 2006.
An eight month old baby is peacefully in the arms of his mother, blissfully unaware of the state of sadness surrounding him. He stares blankly, and his mother wipes a tear from her eye.
"Habibi," She says. Her voice is soft, almost... mournful. Her eyes focused solely on the bundle in her hand, her arms trembling with the amount of weight she feels lies on her shoulders.
"You will be safe here." Her hand comes to brush hair out of his face, a sad smile coming to rest on her face.
...
It's 8 in the morning when a baby is discovered on the doorsteps of an adoption center in Gotham. It's the worst possible place he could've ever been put.
But his mother disagrees.
Nobody will ever know that.
OR: In order to protect her baby, Talia Al Ghul fakes his death and drops him off to an adoption center in Gotham.
9 years later, Bruce Wayne adopts (kidnaps) a child off the cold streets of Gotham city after an attempted pickpocketing.
These two events are not related in any way.
