She could hear the clock ticking on the wall behind them, its beat much, much slower than her racing heart.
“I wanted you to help me with the ceremony.”
He rocked back onto his heels as though she'd struck him. “What?”
“I think it's a cool idea.”
His chest was rising and falling quickly, and she tried not to take his shock and apparent horror personally. “Are you out of your mind? No.”
She swallowed down her hurt as her heart sank. “Why not?”
His eyes widened in disbelief. “Because wolves don't have sex with witches.”Or
