They were everywhere.
In her head.
Her body.
Her soul.
They stole her spirit. Her control.
They took away Sabine Wren and replaced her with a devious monster.
And she could do nothing. Nothing at all.
She was helpless.
Defenseless.
Then a light broke through the darkness. A gentle hand on her arm;
She woke with a start, weapons drawn, mind’s alarm.
The light backed off and raised his hands.
He would never hurt her.
Though she nearly hurt him.
You’re safe, he says, as she gathers close.
The nightmares fade, panic cascades.
I’m fine, she insists;
He knows it not true,
For she cowers in her tiny room.
It matters not, for it has passed.
His smile,
A blinding light purges fears.
He would never hurt her.
She would never hurt him.
It has passed.
You’re safe, he says.
In your body.
Your soul.
Your spirit is in your control.
