Chapter Text
“All right, we have chips, cheese, crackers, a couple of different kinds of fruit too!” Charlie says, pointing out everything as she lists it off.
“Looks good!” Angel comments. Husk narrows his eyes at Angel from the bar.
After Alastor pulled a few strings (and limbs) and somehow got Angel out of his contract with Valentino, Husk has been keeping an eye on him.
Just to make sure he’s okay.
No other reason.
And Husk has started to notice that Angel is indeed a very good actor. Every time he is served food, he picks at it and pushes it around his plate while having a lively conversation. He also sneaks Fat Nuggets some of his plate. And somehow no one but Husk has noticed how odd Angel is around food.
It’s definitely not because Husk is the only one who’s been obsessively watching Angel every chance he gets. Nope.
So after the party, when everyone goes back to their rooms, Husk knocks on Angel’s door.
“Come in?” Angel calls.
Husk walks in, a protein bar in his hand. He had to go to eight separate shops to find one that would fit Angel’s specifications he has for the things he does eat.
“Hey,” Husk says, shuffling awkwardly into his room.
“Hey, Whiskers,” Angel smirks.
Husk ignores the jab and walks a bit closer, pausing to look around the room. It’s very pink. Wallpaper, bedsheets, pillows, almost all the decorations… everything is pink.
Even Angel. Husk thinks to himself, smiling.
“What’s up?” Angel asks, his eyes sliding down Husk’s body and immediately getting suspicious when he spots the protein bar.
Husk notes the change in attitude and sits on the edge of the bed, unwrapping the protein bar. He takes a bite and fights a grimace. The bar is far too sweet for him but he notices Angel relax when he starts eating it instead of forcing it on him.
“Bored.” Husk shrugs, looking at the food in his hand. “Dude this thing tastes like straight sugar what the fuck? How did they even manage that?”
There’s a pause where Husk pretends to look at the ingredients and Angel chews his lip.
“Can I try?” Angel asks finally.
Husk looks up and shrugs, breaking off a piece of the bar and handing it to the spider.
Angel pops it in his mouth and chews. “I dunno.” He mumbles. “Not the sweetest thing I’ve ever eaten.” He eyes the rest of the bar and Husk smiles to himself, proud.
“Ugh, I don’t know how you can stand it,” Husk says, maybe a little too dramatic. Angel holds out his hand for the rest of the bar and Husk deposits it in his hand, not realizing his mistake.
Husk moves to go pet Fat Nuggets, not wanting Angel to feel like he’s watching him. But he does glance over… and immediately curses his stupidity when he sees Angel reading the nutritional facts.
Fuckkkk so it’s a calorie thing. Husk thinks to himself, looking away right before Angel makes eye contact with him. And even though he’s paying the most attention to Fat Nuggets he possibly can, he doesn’t miss the dull thunk of the protein bar hitting the bottom of the trash can.
Fuck. Gonna have to get more creative. Husk thinks after bidding Angel and Fat Nuggets a good night.
