“Got what we needed?” Ghost shifted in the doorway, eyes laser focused on the area around him. You always thought him to be the best guard dog; tall, menacing, looking like he was ready to bite at anyone who even dared to breathe in his direction. You’d be lying if you said you didn’t feel safer with him around. Who wouldn’t?
“Think so,” You stepped back out into the frigid air. “Hopefully nobody notices the radio silence out here. But if they do, it’ll take them at least a day to fly all the way out here.” He slid your rifle off of his shoulders, handing it back to you with the strap loosened out to fit his bigger frame.
“We got 6 days ‘til our CIA friends show up, so let’s hope they don’t notice too quick.” He chuffed, turning the corner to head back to the cabin. There was an empty gnawing in the pit of your stomach, feeling as if you were forgetting something. You got the radio stations, gaiter is still on and none of your knives are missing—
There’s a soft click of a chamber being pulled back into place.
