Chapter Text
Los Angeles Diaz Residence 2019.
Eddie had just finished putting Chris down the 8 year old had been unwell for the last week and it hurt both Eddie and Buck seeing their normally happy go lucky son in such pain but they knew Chris was a fighter and they made sure to give him loads of cuddles and when he wanted to spend the night in their bed they said yes and they also promised him when he was better they would take him to the zoo but for now Eddie had to clean the house up and put a wash on as Chris had gone through loads of jammies since becoming ill.
Eddie is half way through the third wash load when Buck comes in the door and Eddie can tell something is wrong with his boyfriend the moment he sees him and he hopes it wasn't a bad shift as Eddie hated not having his back but Buck said Chris comes first.
When Eddie had joined the 118 he didn't think he would fall for Evan "Buck" Buckley but when the man had helped him get Carla as a home health aid for Chris that's when he knew he had fallen in love with Buck and when Buck told Eddie he felt the same way that made Eddie completely happy.
After Buck met Chris one day Eddie knew he had found the person he was supposed to be with.
It only took about a month before Eddie and Buck had moved in together and by that time Chris was already attached to Buck so things became so much easier for the new couple and Buck made sure to never over step his boundaries when it came to parenting Chris.
Eddie had told Buck that he trusted Buck with his son and knew that Buck loved Chris like his own and he knew Buck would always do what's best for Chris.
Buck was angry and he didn't even bother to change at work he just grabbed his things and left.
“Evan everything ok?” Eddie asks his boyfriend.
“No, not really,” Buck says.
“Well, do you want to tell me?” Eddie asks.
“We had gotten a call about a car that had gone off a cliff side and when we got there Captain Nash had me go down and he ordered Firefighter Han to partner up with me and when I was going down Han decided to let me hit the side of the cliff rather than pay attention to his job” Buck says and he is angry.
“Lift up your top Evan. I need to see if you have any bruising?” Eddie asks his boyfriend.
Buck lifts up his top and Eddie gasps as there is already bruising starting to appear but it doesn't look too bad and hopefully Buck isn't in pain.
“Don't worry I'm going to report it to the chief when I next see him” Buck says and Eddie is glad that Buck's not ignoring it.
“I'm glad but before we go to bed you'll need to put ice on the bruise to stop it getting worse” Eddie says and Buck gives him a look as to say I'm not stupid.
The time Eddie has been working at the 118 he has noticed that Firefighter Han and Captain Nash are more nasty towards Buck and Eddie didn't like it and at first he kept quite as he didn't want to make waves but once him and Buck began dating Eddie had asked about it and Buck had told him that's their problem and it's probably because when he first started he told them he wasn't going to tolerate their hazing.
Eddie found out that Buck was a really intelligent person and he had been in the NAVY SEALS and he had 2 University Degrees.
People thought Buck had washed out of the NAVY but they were wrong. Buck had been involved in an accident and he was medically discharged and his records were sealed as Buck was and still is involved in dangerous cases.
When Buck moved in he told Eddie everything about his life and his family and how Buck was actually adopted and he lived in Hawaii with his 2 dads and his little sister and when he reached 18 he chose to go to university then he joined the NAVY.
Eddie had been keeping a record of everything that Captain Nash and Firefighter Han had been doing and along with Firefighter Wilson who genuinely seemed like a good friend to Buck.
Buck had been getting sick of being at the 118 as he wasn't doing the job he signed up for and half the people at the 118 were completely toxic.
After Buck told Eddie what had happened he went to check on Chris and then he went to get out of his uniform.
Eddie grabs two beers from the fridge and he puts them on the table and Buck comes back and he is in his sweats and he takes his beer and sits on the sofa.
“How's our superman doing?” Buck asks.
“He seems to be through the worst of it” Eddie says.
“That's good I hate seeing him unwell” Buck says.
“Me too” Eddie says and he leans into his boyfriend and wraps his arm around him.
Buck wraps his arm around his boyfriend and he just relaxes.
“Bucky is that you?” Christopher asks coming into the living room.
“Hey buddy” Buck says and he gets up from the sofa and goes and picks Chris up.
When Chris gets ill he gets really clingy and demands most of his dads attention.
Buck sits back on the couch and he makes sure his son is comfortable and Eddie puts the blanket over Chris so he isn't cold.
Chris hates when he is ill as it makes his body sore and he becomes more tired and he doesn't feel like doing anything.
Chris just lies there and he starts to fall back to sleep and after Buck checks he gets up and he takes him into his and Eddie room and puts him on the bed and once he is confident that Chris is still asleep he walks out the room.
“I think we should get a doctor's appointment?” Buck asks.
“Buck it's just a bug he has, he will be OK in a few days” Eddie says.
“I know but if he isn't” Buck says.
“Ok if he isn't then we make a doctor's appointment” Eddie says.
“I've been thinking how about if we go to Hawaii for 2 weeks once Chris is better?” Buck asks.
“You want both your dad's to meet Chris?” Eddie asks.
“Eddie I want both my dads to meet you and Chris and hopefully they love you both” Buck says.
Eddie pulls Buck into a massive kiss and he puts all his emotions into it and Buck reciprocates and Eddie can tell Buck feels the same.
After pulling apart and smiling at each other and after a few minutes Eddie goes into the kitchen and gets an ice pack and gives it to Buck and he places the pack on the bruise and lets it rest there for a little while.
Half an hour later Eddie checks his boyfriend and the ice has helped so as long as they ice it for a few days then the bruise will heal but for now Eddie and Buck go to bed and Buck makes sure all the doors and windows are locked.
Buck and Eddie only wake up a few times during the night with Chris being sick and both men just take it in their stride.
The next morning Buck wakes up and he looks at Eddie and Chris and he smiles but when he looks at Chris he notices that something is wrong with him.
Buck reaches out, places his hand on the boy's head and it's burning up.
“Eddie, I need you to wake up,” Buck says, waking Eddie to get him up.
Eddie opens his eyes and he smiles but when he looks at Buck his smiles fade and worry replaces his face.
“What's wrong?” Eddie asks.
“It's Chris he is burning up” Buck says.
Eddie gets out of bed and he immediately runs to the house phone and calls 9-1-1 and when he is connected to the other person on the line he tells them what's happening and they tell him that they are sending an ambulance right away.
After Eddie gets off the phone he runs back into the bedroom and Buck has stripped Christopher off his pajamas and he has gotten a damp cloth and he is dampening Christopher's head.
Eddie informs Buck that the paramedics are on their way and they should be here soon and Buck says that's good.
A few minutes later there is a knock on their front door and Eddie goes and answers it and when he comes face to face with Hen.
Hen was covering someone on B-Shift and she was actually enjoying B-Shift and they weren't like A-Shift as all.
Eddie let Hen and her partner in and they immediately went to the bedroom and both Hen took over from Buck and she knew immediately that Christopher needed to go to the hospital.
Once Christopher was loaded into the ambulance Hen and worked on Christopher while her partner drove and both Buck and Eddie were in the back with her.
The ambulance pulled up at the hospital and they got Christopher into the hospital and Hen gave the information to the doctors and she told both Eddie and Buck when her shift is over she and Karen will stop by.
Both Eddie and Buck said they appreciate it and that would be nice of her.
Hen leaves the hospital and she hopes Christopher is going to be OK.
Buck pulls out his phone and dialed the Chief's number and told him what's happened and the man told him that he and Eddie have a few days off and he will personally inform Captain Nash and Buck thanks the man and hangs up.
All Buck and Eddie can do is wait to see if Christopher is going to be OK.
While waiting on news about Christopher Eddie tells Buck he is going to phone his Abuela and Tia Peppa and tell them what's happened.
Eddie heads into the hallway and takes his phone out his pocket and presses his Abuela's contact information and he waits for her to answer it.
Once Eddie hears his Abuela on the other end he tells her what's happened with Christopher and she immediately tells him that she is on her way with his Tia Peppa and he tells her to be careful.
Eddie heads back to Buck and he sees the man pacing and he goes to his boyfriend and takes his hand and tells him his Abuela and Tia Peppa are on their way.
Abuela and Tia Peppa arrive ten minutes later and they immediately go straight to Eddie and Buck and pull them into a hug and they all just wait to find out if Chris will be OK.
