You’re the Reason

Summary:

I understand this probably won’t get much attention, but I feel it is necessary to share a new song that I wrote, or at least just the lyrics, so y’all can get a better idea of what I’ve been going through. I’m really proud of this song, but it probably sounds better in my head when I know what it sounds like versus what it sounds like to someone who’s never seen it before. So I guess it can mostly be taken as a poem because I don’t have the music.

Notes:

Okay, so, this song was written before I fell down into my sins, last September, I think I finished it on the first. When I wrote this one, I was thinking about those who do not believe in God, the unfaithful, and exactly how I was supposed to help them realize what they’ve done. Let it be known that when I’m talking about “you“, I’m referring to those who don’t believe as a whole, and there’s nothing in particular I was actually telling them that they’d done, it’s just generally speaking. Your actions are not the cause of your faith, but rather, your faith is the cause of your actions.

When I originally wrote this song, I was trying to express how much I care deeply for those who don’t know God the way I do, and sort of that I was willing to die to tell them of me and my relationship with God, and that I would shout it from the rooftops to tell them that God is the reason. 🙏🏻

Work Text:

You’re the Reason - Lyrics:

(1st Verse)
When I look around myself I see
so many people playing mean
They think that they’re doing things correctly
When really all they’re doing is being unfriendly
They don’t know what I know
They don’t know how to see
That this is not the way
And the reason I know that
is because they’re not singing

(Chorus)
You’re the reason, You’re the reason, You’re the reason for my life
Oh, Lord You’re the reason, You’re the reason, You’re the reason I’m alive
Oh, Lord You’re the reason, You’re the reason, You’re the reason for my life
Lord, You’re the reason, You’re the reason
And now it’s do or die

I just want to shout it from the rooftops
I just want to sing it from my grave
I just want to let the whole world know that You’re the one I praise

I just want to shout it from the rooftops
I just want to sing it from my grave
I just want to let the whole world know that there’s a better way

(Bridge)
It doesn’t have to be like this
Oh, no, you know it doesn’t have to be like this

(2nd Verse)
This is cold, this is cruel, this is nothing like the love of the Lord, no
When the Lord calls, what do you do?
You turn away and why?
Is it because you do not believe in what you can not see?

(Bridge)
Well, let me tell you something

(3rd Verse)
You can’t see the wind
And yet you know it’s there
You can’t see the air we breathe
And yet you know it’s there and why?
It’s for the same reason that I know that God is there

(Bridge)
You’re all so lost
Lord, why?
And I think the saddest part of all, is that you’re not singing

(Chorus)
Oh, Lord You’re the reason, You’re the reason, You’re the reason for my life
Oh, Lord You’re the reason, You’re the reason, You’re the reason I’m alive
Oh, Lord You’re the reason, You’re the reason, You’re the reason for my life
Lord, You’re the reason, You’re the reason
And now it’s do or die

I just want to shout it from the rooftops
I just want to sing it from my grave
I just want to let the whole world know that there’s a better way

I just want to shout it from the rooftops
I just want to sing it from my grave
I just want to let the whole world know that You’re the one I praise

(Bridge)
Lord, I praise
I praise You
I really wish that
You did too

(4th verse)
When I see all the stuff you do
It makes me so sad for you
And the reason for that is because
You don’t know God the way I do
There’s a better way
And it starts with the Lord

(Bridge)
Lord, I praise
I praise You
I really wish that
You did too
I don’t want you to go
And that’s why I am singing

(dramatic music crescent)

I just want to let the whole world know that there’s a better way (there’s a better way)

I just want to shout it from the rooftops
I just want to sing it from my grave
I just want to let the whole world know that You’re the one I praise (You’re the one I praise)

(music dramatically stops)

I just want to shout it from the rooftops
I just want to sing it from my grave
I just want to let the whole world know that there’s a better way

(Ending)
There’s a better way

Notes:

Yes! Let the whole world know that there’s a better way! I absolutely love the ending of this song, because it’s absolutely the truth. Now can you see why I was so surprised I fell so low when I was so devout (as was one of the lines in I Couldn’t Get Out)? I was supposed to be the one who lifted others up, not the other way around (also a line from I Couldn’t Get Out).

Anyway, that’s the last of the Christian songs I’ve written for now. Stay tuned for more updates about my life and my walk with Christ, and hopefully next time, I won’t be talking about how I fell once again. We can only pray ✝️ 🙏🏻.

I’m also probably going to get back to Scenario 1: Won’t Admit it (Sickness) soon, just as soon as I can figure out exactly how to write Jackson throwing up. 🫢

Take care! God bless you all!!
