Blazer Sox

Summary:

Not even a movie "date", a sleepover, and lots of wholesome times can get them to ask each other the question that's been in their heads for a long, long time:

"Do you wanna be my Girlfriend?"

Even then. There's no place they'd rather be than with each other.

(Loosely based on a Green Day song titled Bobby Sox)

Chapter 1: You're not just any type of girl.

Chapter Text

Do you wanna be my Girlfriend?

Every single time that question pops up in Stelle's head she freezes up instantly, what's stopping her from asking Firefly out?! It's been nothing but infuriating for the grey haired girl as there have been many attempts to confess or ask out the girl she likes AND maybe has interest in her, all of it to end with her backing out or playing it safe. This has left Stelle confused for a while as she already has dating experience with some men and women, so why is it that all of the sudden she's acting like this is the first time she's had a crush on someone? It doesn't help that Firefly really isn't just any other type of girl in her life, even though she's only gotten to know her very recently, that cute smile and the kindness she's shown have definitely grown on her after spending some time with her. Firefly was also one of the few people that was there to comfort Stelle when she was at her lowest and Stelle having experienced such loving kindness has also done the same for Firefly as well, it's why these two have had such a healthy friendship over the years with how often they support and listen to each others problems and achievements which have made these two practically inseparable.

Regardless of the many difficulties, Stelle did manage to get a small win yesterday as Firefly agreed to watch a movie with her at the mall called "The Great Tatalov" which Stelle has seen plenty of times while Firefly hasn't. The movie is a lighthearted action/adventure movie that is marketed towards mostly kids, even though Stelle wasn't the main demographic of the movie, the absurd humor that was present in it's runtime and her admittedly weird obsession with trash cans was enough to keep Stelle wanting to watch it again from front to back, now with Firefly by her side too.

"Hi Stelle! Have you been waiting for me for a while?" Firefly greets as she approaches the "Galactic Baseballer" in the distance near the Cinema in the mall. That nickname always stuck with her ever since Stelle made that name up after an intense baseball match that pushed the girl to her limits, Firefly had never laughed so hard in her life with how unserious Stelle can be, which made her very funny in her eyes.

"I haven't waited too long, just needed to buy some stuff for Pom-Pom, they really love having the house always filled with a stock of snacks." Stelle replies, she double checks her bag to see if she bought all the snacks that Pom-Pom wanted, she made a habit of this ever since she forgot to buy Pom-Pom's most favorite snack and wouldn't talk to her for a week.

After shortly checking her bag she lifts her head up to see Firefly with her trademark hair, along with her attire which is a white shirt and grey pants, casual sneakers, and a denim jacket that fitted her arms perfectly.

"You look great." Stelle commented, as soon as she saw a pink hue form on Firefly's cheeks she too blushed as well, only now realizing what she just said. "Did I really just say that?!" Stelle says in her thoughts.

"T-thank you...you look great too." Firefly decides to return the compliment, even though it's the same outfit that Stelle usually wears, she can't deny how handsome she always manages to look even if Firefly herself has seen it a thousand times.

To break the eventual awkwardness that comes with compliments Stelle decides to take initiative. "Well anyway, let's go buy the tickets shall we?" Firefly nods and soon the both of them go up to the counter, there they see a tall lady with both violet hair and violet eyes, this intrigues Stelle as it kinda reminds her of a certain girl who's known to have a Scythe. Stelle shakes off that thought as to not keep the lady waiting too long.

"Two tickets to the Great Tatalov please." Stelle says, the lady hands them the tickets and gets the cash that Stelle put on the counter, she couldn't help but notice how cute these two are and decides to add in a comment before they go.

"Thank you for choosing SoulGlad Cinema, hope you two enjoy your date." The lady grins and winks at the two, causing the both of them to blush while they walk towards the theater where the movie was showing. The two were about to enter the theater until Stelle realized that she forgot something.

"Shit. I forgot to buy popcorn and soda." Stelle quickly thinks of what to do, after a few seconds she hands Firefly her ticket and says "You go on ahead, I won't take long!" Firefly then sees Stelle start a light jog as she rushes to find the snack bar. Before Firefly can say anything, Stelle disappears into the crowd in the distance. "Well I hope she makes it before it starts" Firefly comments to herself and then enters the theater.

She sees the seats and the big screen and realizes there aren't many people around, she knows it's been showing for some time now and most of the people in the theater were parents and their children who wanted to see the movie before it gets taken off and replaced with another film coming out soon. Firefly finds her and Stelle's seat which is comfortably situated in the upper-middle part of the theater. "This is perfect." Firefly thinks. She sits down and watches the pre-show and trailers for some upcoming movies that while intriguing, barely makes her interested. Firefly found it more enjoyable watching a series or a movie on a streaming platform and in the comfort of her own bed, the only time she remembers ever going out of her way to watch a movie was whenever one of her friends invited her and that girl she dated a long time ago but never went anywhere with. Besides, it's always more enjoyable when you have company right? But now it was different...

She's going watch a movie with none other than Stelle.

Stelle was different. Stelle wasn't just any type of girl.

She has never felt so happy being with someone, Firefly felt understood, she felt like Stelle really was always there for her. There was always this excitement in her heart, a spark that seemed to just grow into electricity whenever she sees her and it's only a matter of time until it explodes. She knows the grey haired girl has or at least given some sort of sign that she likes her back but the fear of ruining their relationship or being friend zoned overwhelms her whenever she made an attempt and has continued to deter her from confessing altogether, even though she wishes she can just confess already and be on a more intimate level with her supposed "best friend".

Firefly sighs, this was such a tough predicament to be in. After all she couldn't just confess on a whim and Stelle doesn't seem like the type who would confess randomly. It's either Stelle confesses first or she manages to find a perfect time and place and confesses first instead. Regardless, the thought of Stelle finally being able to know how she really feels is enough to warm her body and face up even in a fully air-conditioned theater.

Firefly checks her phone only to realize that 15 minutes have gone by with Stelle being nowhere to be seen yet and the movie already starting, this gets her worried and she quickly brings out her phone to text Stelle:

Firefly: Where are you? The movie's about to start.

Stelle: Sorry!! I didn't think the line in the snack bar would be this long.

Firefly: How close are you to buying the snacks?

Stelle: ...about 30 minutes.

30 minutes?! At this rate Stelle might as well just skip out the first part of the movie! Stelle told her yesterday that "The Great Tatalov's" runtime is only 2 hours and how was she gonna enjoy it knowing Stelle is stuck in a line?

Firefly: 30 minutes?! What happened?

Stelle: Apparently they somehow ran out of everything. Snacks, Soda, Popcorn, you name it.

Firefly: ...

Firefly: You know what? Forget the popcorn and snacks, I don't wanna watch this movie all by myself.

Stelle: Really? But what about the drinks?

Firefly: Forget the drinks! I have a water bottle with me anyways.

Stelle: fiiiineeeee I'm on my way.

Firefly breathed a sigh of relief as she read the last message. She saw the movie start and begin with the opening narration of..... Lots and lots of trashcan people.

"Of course she likes this movie." Firefly giggles to herself, she already knew that this movie would have trash cans in it though what she didn't expect it to be about is an entire civilization of trash cans, she's also known about this weird fixation that Stelle has for trash cans ever since they met and seeing how this movie is about that, well no wonder Stelle's seen it many times before already. A little bit after the movie starts, Stelle appears, rushing to see where Firefly is.

"I'm here." Stelle hurriedly goes to her seat next to Firefly with her sweating and breathing heavily. "You're sweaty, here use this to wipe it off." Firefly says, as she hands Stelle a towel that she uses to wipe her face followed by a quick "Thanks".

Some time later, that warm feeling returns to Firefly's chest as she sees Stelle calm down and enjoy the movie with her. Stelle's eyes light up whenever she recognizes a joke or a hidden reference in the scenes. Little does she know that Stelle feels the exact same way now too, with Firefly laughing at the jokes regardless of if they were corny or well executed. They both kept stealing glances at each other without realizing it and soon they both get lost in the image of each other's smiles. It almost makes the both of them want say the question that they wanted to say to each other for such a long time now.

Do you wanna be my Girlfriend?
