Boom!
Crack!
Sounds of thunder and lightning shattered through the air and the patter of rain began to grow on the windows of Monkey King's cottage. Heavy raindrops began to fall more frantically as the thunder boomed like a stampede of animals.
Trees shook and blew intensely as their leaves fluttered and danced in the savage wind. Branches held onto trees for dear life as the mess outside intensified. Flower Fruit Mountain was usually known as a peaceful escape, but tonight was an exception.
The king and warrior were fast asleep in their bed, cuddling each other. Wukong wasn't really bothered by storms so it didn't wake him up, Macaque, due to his six ears had to wear soundproof headphones to muffle out the sounds
Unfortunately, three little ones weren't so lucky.
Bai-He and Rumble were huddling together under the covers trembling with fear as each boom grew louder than the last. "Uh, how long is this storm supposed to last?" Bai-He asked wearily.
"Uh, all night apparently." Rumble answered. Her eyes widened in terror as an another crack whipped through the air.
"You girls are so scared, it's just a little rain." Savage snorted, slowly uncovered himself from the blanket.
"Then why are you hiding?" Rumble looked at him, trying to see if he was joking.
Another boom echoed through their bedroom Savage cleared his throat as he gets out of their bed, peeks his head out the window. "I wasn't hiding, I was just making sure you girls and Chao-Xing were alright."
The three of them glanced to the crib where their baby brother slept soundly, hugging his stuffed toy, not bothered by the noise.
Wow, talk about a heavy sleeper.
"Besides, it's just a storm. It'll go away, right?"
Another crack of lightning whipped through the air and a silhouette of an eerie hand flashing through the window. Savage's eyes widened and his fur bristled up.
"Aaaaaaahhhh!!" The three of them screamed.
Being woken up by their screams, Wukong rushes into the room and sees big moving lumps under the covers. "Hey, what's the matter?"
The blanket moves and the three of them quickly rushed towards him. "Bàba!" Wukong kneeled down and open his arms as the three of them rushed into his arms.
"There's a ghost outside, the old grandpa's ghost is back!" Savage cried, trembling in his arms. A confused look on the simian's face, he turned to their window to see it wasn't a ghost, but a tree branch.
Wukong smiled tiredly and rubbed their back to calm them down. "Aw it's okay kids, it's only a tree branch," He reassured them walks towards their bed and sat down. "It's just a storm, there's nothing to be scared of." Wukong pulled them close to his chest and gently rocked them, like a mother to her cub.
"I wasn't scared, I-I was just making sure they were okay." Savage grinned nervously, trying to put on his 'tough guy' act.
Wukong gave him a gentle smile. "It's alright kid, I understand." He nuzzles his cheek against his making purr a bit. "Now come on guys, it's time to go to sleep."
"We can't. Could you...maybe sing to us Bàba?" Bai-He asked, still a bit nervous to go back to sleep. Wukong looked a bit surprised by her request, usually it'd be Macaque singing them to sleep. So it his heart just simply melted.
Wukong chuckled and nodded. "Sure my little cubs." He cleared his throat and took a deep breath.
When you wish upon a star
Makes no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires
Will come to you
If your heart is in your dream
No request is too extreme
When you wish upon a star
As dreamers do
Like a bolt out of the blue
Fate steps in and sees you through
When you wish upon a star
Your dreams come true
After he was finished, the trio fell asleep, melting into Wukongs body making him whimper. 'Oh my gosh, it's so cute!~' He thought in his head.
Wukong held them closely, pressing his lips on each of their foreheads. He gently lays them down and placed the covers over them.
The Monkey King then starts to leave the room has he slowly closes the door. "Good night my little cubs."
