Spoilers for The Ballad of Never After
After vampire Chaos had killed Evangeline, Jacks uses the four stones of the Valory arch to travel back in time, realizing that he cannot save the girl he desires without changing the course of the Magnificent North’s history. Selfishly, he turns the time back to the day that she first came stumbling into his church, broken-hearted and desperate, in order to prevent her death, which had unfortunately wiped all her memories of him too. He knows now what he needs to keep her by his side, until the end of time.
